[ENGLISH BELOW] Que fait-on un jeudi soir à Bordeaux ? On profite du passage (hors capitale) plus que rare de Lordi pour se divertir. Et pour l’occasion le groupe était accompagné de Crimson Veil et de All For Metal. Un énorme merci à ma collègue Mary pour les photos, à l’équipe de la salle pour leur accueil ainsi qu’à Barbara de Reigning Phoenix Music pour l’invitation.
Et cette soirée commence avec Crimson Veil et on ne sait pas grand chose d’eux étant donné que c’était leur tout premier concert et le moins que l’on puisse dire c’est que ce n’est clairement pas à la portée de tout le monde. Malgré la présence très originale d’une violoncelliste en guise de basse et d’une énorme présence scénique avec leurs costume uniques et différents, cela n’a pas réussi à conquérir le cœur du public qui est resté très statique.
Ensuite nous avons eu le droit au jeune groupe allemand de Heavy/Power Metal, All For Metal et là les choses changent drastiquement, déjà par le charisme des deux chanteurs aux physiques différents, par la guitariste soliste qui n’a pas eu froid aux yeux, par la folie du bassiste qui même après le concert nous montrait qu’il avait encore de l’énergie à revendre mais aussi par les deux danseuses qui ont su animer l’entièreté des chansons toujours avec passion et joie. Moment mémorable à la fin de la chanson Raise Your Hammer où le chanteur guttural a pris son pied à exploser une table basse avec son marteau et le tout encouragé par le public. Ils ont même jouer en exclusivité Gods Of Metal issu de leur prochain album qui sortira cet été.

Et le moment qui nous attendions tous, les géants de Lordi font leur entrée sur scène et il y a beaucoup à dire, entre les décors de scène incroyables où Monsieur Lordi se fait un plaisir de passer et de repasser par les portes présentes. Un Freak Show d’1h30 avec la possibilité de voir un solo par chaque musicien présent sans que l’attention soit monopolisée par le chanteur, mais comment être discret quand on est le leader d’un groupe qui porte des plateformes tellement hautes qu’elle m’en ont donné le vertige. Parlons du maquillage et des costumes aussi qui sont tous unique et incroyable au niveau des détails. Et enfin parlons de l’ambiance à coups de riffs et de sonorités creepy, Lordi a su faire bouger son public surtout avec les anciens albums qui ont remémorés des souvenirs à tous. Personnellement j’attendais avec impatience Blood Red Sandman, Who’s Your Daddy?, Devil Is A Loser, Would You Love A Monsterman ? et bien évidemment Hard Rock Hallelujah et je n’ai pas été déçue de l’interprétation et de la réaction du public. Monsieur Lordi en a même profité pour se payer la tête des français à coups de Excellent ! ou OUI OUI ! qui ont fait rire un bon nombre de personnes présentes.

What do you do on a Thursday evening in Bordeaux? We take advantage of Lordi‘s rare appearance (outside the capital) to enjoy ourselves. And for the occasion, the band was accompanied by Crimson Veil and All For Metal.
A huge thank you to my colleague Mary for the photos, to the venue team for their warm welcome and to Barbara from Reigning Phoenix Music for the invitation.
The evening began with Crimson Veil, and we don’t know much about them, given that this was their very first concert, and the least we can say is that it’s clearly not for everyone. Despite the highly original presence of a cellist as bass and a huge stage presence with their unique and different costumes, they failed to win over the hearts of the audience, who remained very static.
Then we were treated to the young German heavy/power metal band, All For Metal, and here things changed drastically, already with the charisma of the two singers with different physiques, the solo guitarist who didn’t shy away, the craziness of the bassist who even after the concert showed us that he still had energy to spare, and also the two dancers who brought the whole song to life, always with passion and joy. A memorable moment came at the end of the song Raise Your Hammer, when the guttural singer took it upon himself to smash a coffee table with his hammer, with the audience cheering him on. They even played an exclusive set of Gods Of Metal from their forthcoming album, due out this summer.

And the moment we’ve all been waiting for, the giants of Lordi take to the stage, and there’s a lot to say, between the incredible stage sets where Mr. Lordi takes pleasure in passing through the doors again and again. A 1h30 Freak Show with the possibility of seeing a solo by each musician present without the attention being monopolized by the singer, but how can you be discreet when you’re the leader of a band wearing platforms so high they made me dizzy. Let’s talk about the make-up and costumes too, which are all unique and incredible in their detail. And finally, let’s talk about the atmosphere, with its riffs and creepy sounds, Lordi knew how to get its audience moving, especially with the old albums that brought back memories for everyone. Personally, I was looking forward to Blood Red Sandman, Who’s Your Daddy?, Devil Is A Loser, Would You Love A Monsterman ? and, of course, Hard Rock Hallelujah, and I wasn’t disappointed by the performance and the audience reaction. Mr Lordi even took the opportunity to make fun of the French with his Excellent! and OUI OUI! comments, which had a good number of people laughing.
