[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Fêter Halloween à Londres avec un de mes groupes préférés à savoir Stand Atlantic? L’idée était bien trop tentante et en profiter pour découvrir Waterparks en Headliner sur la première date de leur tournée EU également. Retour sur cette soirée !
Ce soir, l’esprit de Halloween est présent autant dans la salle que sur scène, c’est donc costumés que les membres de Stand Atlantic investissent les planches! Et comme d’habitude, c’est l’effervescence la plus totale. Contrairement au public français, les australiens semblent être en terrain conquis et ça fait vraiment plaisir de les revoir après leur passage au Slamdunk l’an dernier. Le show va commencer avec hair out extrait du dernier album en date, avant d’enchaîner une collection de bangers! Le groupe en profitera pour glisser leur prochain single disponible ce vendredi 10 novembre : Sex On The Beach dans la set-list, une très belle surprise que j’ai hâte de ré-écouter sur les dates parisiennes et belges. Evidemment c’est majoritairement F.E.A.R le dernier album studio du groupe qui est joué ce soir, et je déplore évidemment l’absence totale de titres de leur premier EP dans la set-list (Rendez Coffee At Midnight SVP) mais aussi l’absence de pit même si j’ai fais peu de concerts à Londres je dois bien avouer qu’un seul peu d’activité dans la fosse aurait était la bienvenue en dehors du dernier morceau molotov [OK] . En bref, entre franche rigolade, set-list quand même qualitative on ne va pas se le cacher et énergie de fou furieux, Stand Atlantic remporte aisément la palme de meilleur concert de la soirée.
Waterparks fut une totale découverte ce soir-là pour moi et je dois bien avouer avoir été agréablement surprise par leur set. Le trio a également joué le jeu des costumes ce soir et débarque devant un parterre de fans complètement dévoués à la cause de
Awsten Knight qui provoque les hurlements de la foule dès son entrée sur scène pour jouer le premier titre

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY (dont 10 titres seront joués ce soir) sorti il y’a quelques mois. La set-list est ce soir composée de 24 titres, c’est peut-être un peu longuet quand on ne connaît pas un groupe mais la musique de
Waterparks est vraiment cool à écouter en live, leur énergie fait plaisir à voir et leur fan-base reprend les paroles de chaque titre à plein poumons (entre deux hurlements déchirants des groupies). Le trio nous gratifiera même d’une petite pause acoustique comprenant une cover de
Wonderwall de
Oasis mais également leurs titres
Violet!, 21 Questions et
High Definition. Un intermède bienvenue avant de reprendre sur
I Miss Having Sex but at Least I Don’t Wanna Die Anymore. On sent déjà que c’est bientôt la fin du set et
Waterparks va quitter la scène avant de revenir pour jouer trois derniers titres en rappel
REAL SUPER DARK, Turbulent et
FUNERAL GREY. Presque 1h30 de show c’est presque dingue maintenant quand on voit que certains groupes se contentent de bien moins,
Waterparks ont assurés comme des chefs et il me tarde de les revoir à Paris et Bruxelles!

Celebrating Halloween in London with one of my favourite bands, Stand Atlantic? The idea was just too tempting, and it was also an opportunity to discover Waterparks as headliners on the first date of their EU tour. Here’s a review of the evening!
Tonight, the spirit of Halloween is present in the room and on stage, so it’s in costume that the members of Stand Atlantic take to the stage! And, as usual, the crowd was crazy. Unlike the French audience, the Australians seem to be on conquered ground, and it’s a real pleasure to see them again after their appearance at Slamdunk last year. The show kicks off with hair out, taken from their latest album, followed by a collection of bangers! The band take the opportunity to slip their next single, Sex On The Beach, available this Friday 10 November, into the set-list, a lovely surprise that I can’t wait to hear again on the Paris and Belgian dates. Of course, F.E.A.R, the band’s latest studio album, is the majority of what’s played tonight, and I obviously deplore the total absence of tracks from their first EP in the set-list (Bring Back Coffee At Midnight please) but also the absence of a pit, even though I’ve only been to a few London gigs, I have to admit that a bit of activity in the pit would have been welcome apart from the last track molotov [OK] . In short, between a good laugh, a qualitative set-list and the fucking energy, Stand Atlantic easily won the award for best concert of the evening.
Waterparks were a complete discovery for me that night and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by their set. The trio also played the costume game tonight and arrived in front of an audience of fans completely devoted to the cause of Awsten Knight, who provoked howls from the crowd as soon as he entered the stage to play the first track ST*RFUCKER taken from the band’s latest studio album INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY (10 tracks of which will be played tonight) released a few months ago. Tonight’s set-list is made up of 24 tracks, which may be a bit long if you’re not familiar with the band, but Waterparks‘ music is really cool to listen to live, their energy is a pleasure to see and their fan-base is taking in the lyrics of each track at the top of their lungs (between two heart-rending howls from the groupies). The trio even treated us to a short acoustic break, featuring a cover of Oasis‘ Wonderwall as well as their own tracks Violet!, 21 Questions and High Definition. It’s a welcome interlude, before they pick up with I Miss Having Sex but at Least I Don’t Wanna Die Anymore. It was already clear that the set was coming to an end and Waterparks left the stage before returning to play three final tracks as an encore: REAL SUPER DARK, Turbulent and FUNERAL GREY. Almost 1h30 of show is almost crazy now when you see that some bands are content with much less, Waterparks did it like a boss and I can’t wait to see them again in Paris and Brussels!
