(English version below)

Your album « Manifest » is mixed by Jacob Hansen, as others of your albums.

Version Anglaise:

Chairyoursound: You are putting out your sixth album, « Manifest » in October. How do you reflect on all that happened to the band since its creation?

Johan: These last 10-11 years have been pretty hectic and a lot of amazing things has of course happened. But there has also been alot of struggle in terms of working with the wrong people and people who didn’t have the same view and ideas on where this band should be going. At some points it felt like some peoples only interest was to sabotage, deceive and lie to the band. However, we who are AMARANTHE now made a decision to re-organize ourselves and sorting out the bad apples in the basket.
But I do believe that the struggles and issues we were dealing with has only made us stronger and now we are striving for not only getting bigger
but also better in every aspect, it has really been tiening the « family bonds » much harder and stronger!

Chairyoursound: What did you chose to put from your previous works into the new one?

Johan: I think this would be a more suitable question to the main songwriters, Elize and Olof. But in general we put down a lot of energy and creative spirit in this album. And most important, an open mind to try things we haven’t done before for various reasons.

Chairyoursound: What can fans expect from this new album musically?

Johan: As always with AMARANTHE we are once again pushing the boundaries and borders in every direction. If not it would not be AMARANTHE!  A little more of everything and in some points, less than everything… I think. Or actually, I am very convinced that this new album is going to hit bigger than any previous AMARANTHE album.

Chairyoursoud: In terms of lyrics, what main themes run through the new album?

Johan: There is some social criticism in terms of environnemental issues and also how people seems to live their lives in front of the screen and not seeing the reality for what it is…

Chairyoursound: Nils joined the band before « Helix » got recorded, how was working with him for the new album?

Johan: Nils is just a pure genius! He have a great understanding for music and what the ideas are and where it should go. Unfortunately, due to Covid 19, I was not able to be in the studio when he did his  recordings but followed closely in every possible way. And he is also a fantastic guy to hang around, with so he is that one missing piece in the puzzle to make it complete.

Chairyoursound: On the album you recorded one song with Angela Gossow (ex Arch Enemy) and another one with Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast). What can you tell us about those songs and both recordings?

Johan: Angela is our manager and we thought it would be cool if she would do some guest vocals, since she have´t done anything since her departure from Arch Enemy. And with Noora it was a thing we wanted to do since we where supposed to be on an US tour together at this very moment and it would be a nice little « extra treat » for the audience if there was some guests on stage.

Chairyoursound: Your album « Manifest » is mixed by Jacob Hansen, as others of your albums. What do you think he brings to the sound of the band and how was it
to work with him again?

Johan: Jacob has a fantastic way of understanding where the music is going and what the meaning of it all is. He is really our 7th member and to work with him has always been fantastic. However…unfortunateley on this album I was not able to go to Denmark and record, because of that damn virus and also me living in Finland. So it would be liability to try and cross to closed
borders and too unsecure so on this album I went to Helsinki and recorded with good friend and producer Joonas « Johnny » Parkonen ( ex; Santa Cruz) and it worked out really good.

Chairyoursound: You did one of the few big tours of 2020 with Sabaton early this year. What memories do you keep of this tour? And what impact did the tour have on
the band?

Johan: My biggest memory and feeling from that tour is on word. HUMILITY!! We have known the Sabaton guys for some years now and they are all just fantastic people and so easygoing in every way! And you really got a feeling that they had handpicked every single one on that tour not only by their professionalism but also warm heart and kindness!
And as an impact it gave us the insight of how and with who we want to make this band as big as possible.

Chairyoursound: Your tour with Beyond The Black has been moved due to the pandemic. What can people expect from this tour next year?

Johan: Nothing but pure fantastic energy delivered with a vengeance from having to cancel and postpone tours and shows!

Chairyoursound: One last word you want to tell to our readers about the new album?

Johan: Actually, I have deliberately not listen to the album in a while in order to have a good open mind to it. And I just happened to have listen to it and all I can say is…This one is going to knock it out of the ballpark!

Chairyoursound: Thank you for your answers!
