[ ENGLISH BELOW ] Le groupe grec de Power Metal Firewind revient avec un dixième album intitulé Stand United, disponible à partir du 1er Mars 2024 et produit par le label AFM Records.
Et le voyage commence avec Salvation Day qui nous permet de se familiariser avec l’esprit de cet opus. Des rythmiques classique qui rappellent les sonorités entendues au début des années 80, un petit retour dans le passé qui fait du bien et qui rend nostalgique. Stand United reprend le flambeau tout en y ajoutant un moment digne d’un cri de Horde. Je suis curieuse de voir ce qu’il donne sur scène.
Avec Destiny Is Calling on retourne encore plus dans le cœur des années 80 avec une construction musicale qui me fait vraiment penser à tout les groupes qui sont apparus à cette époque.
The Power Lies Within se permet d’accentuer un peu plus la batterie et ce dès le début, et ça fait du bien d’entendre quelque chose de légèrement différent, mais pas trop. Exactement comme Come Undone qui nous plonge directement au cœur de la synthwave avec son introduction mais revient vite sur ce qui a été commencé avant. Même combat avec Fallen Angel.
Chains m’a tout de suite fait penser à la mythique et inoubliable introduction de la chanson de Dire Straits intitulé Money For Nothing et ce petit rappel fait du bien. Pour le reste on dirait vraiment qu’ils se sont enchainés eux même. Même effet pour Land Of Chaos qui est juste plus heavy. Et Talking In Your Sleep vient les rejoindre pour accentuer encore plus ce voyage dans le temps.
Et la conclusion avec Days Of Grace alterne entre Heavy Metal et Slow Rock, une chanson qui ne sait pas vraiment sur quel pied danser.
Firewind nous propose un album typique des années 80 avec aucune nouveauté. Une énorme impression de déjà vu et entendu qui m’a percutée pendant toute l’écoute. Cela reste un bon opus qui peut plaire à un très large public.

Greek power metal band Firewind return with a tenth album entitled Stand United, available from March 1, 2024 and produced by AFM Records.
And the journey begins with Salvation Day, which introduces us to the spirit of this opus. Classic rhythms reminiscent of the sounds heard in the early ’80s, a nostalgic return to the past. Stand United takes up the torch and adds a moment worthy of a Horde scream. I’m curious to see how it plays out on stage.
Destiny Is Calling takes us back even further into the heart of the 80s, with a musical construction that really reminds me of all the bands that appeared at that time.
The Power Lies Within takes the liberty of accentuating the drums a little more right from the start, and it’s good to hear something slightly different, but not too different. Exactly like Come Undone, which plunges us straight into the heart of synthwave with its introduction but quickly returns to what came before. Same fight with Fallen Angel.
Chains immediately reminded me of the mythical and unforgettable intro to Dire Strait‘s Money For Nothing, and this little reminder is very welcomed. As for the rest, it really sounds like they’ve chained themselves together. Same effect here with Land Of Chaos who seems just heavier. And Talking In Your Sleep joins them to further accentuate this journey through time.

Firewind offers us a typical 80s album with nothing new. A huge impression of déjà vu that kept hitting me throughout. It’s still a good opus that will appeal to a very wide audience.
