Smash Into Pieces sont de retour avec un nouvel album Ghost Code. Ce dernier fait suite à Disconnect (2022) et est disponible depuis le 12 avril.
Trigger débute avec une introduction entraînante qui met rapidement le chant en avant. On débute tranquillement cette nouvelle aventure chill. Des chœurs font rapidement leur arrivée, donnant de la puissance et de la profondeur, notamment avec le refrain qui se dégage bien et qui donne un petit coup de peps à l’ensemble. La deuxième partie change un peu et fait monter quelque peu les choses. On découvre une belle explosion durant les quarante dernières secondes et cela termine parfaitement bien le morceau. Afterglow ouvre sur un piano, créant une ambiance différente, plus douce et sérieuse. On se prend au jeu et le groupe vient jouer avec nos sentiments. On s’ambiance un peu plus avec l’arrivée de la batterie et qui débouche sur un moment plus touchant. Le chant est très prenant et je l’apprécie beaucoup, ainsi que les passages instrumentaux. Il y a quelque chose qui ressort de profond et qui me parle, créant un vrai coup de cœur pour ce morceau. Heroes are Calling reprend une influence du titre précédent, avant de partir sur quelque chose de plus rapide et surtout de plus dynamique. Le refrain est une véritable explosion et entre en tête très facilement, notamment avec son côté balade. J’aime beaucoup la place de l’électro ici, qui semble faire partie entièrement du groupe et être un membre à part entière, amplifiant parfaitement le titre. L’ajout de chœur sur la fin, permet de gagner encore en profondeur et de donner une ambiance plus épique.

Flow débute avec une introduction dynamique et qui va jouer avec le chant. Les instruments sont plus rapides et vont taper un peu plus. Une ambiance différente des titres précédents apparaît et donne envie de sauter dans tous les sens, globalement plus positive et surtout rayonnante. On va jouer sur le rythme, notamment avec une deuxième moitié où on ralentit et où l’ensemble prend un côté plus grave, ponctué de quelques scream. Une atmosphère radicalement différente avec un refrain qui revient plus fort que jamais. The Tide semble être sur la retenue. Un chant vraiment mis en avant et qui donne l’impression d’être chuchoté à l’oreille. Une nouvelle fois, on joue sur les rythmes, créant une sorte d’escalade et quelque chose de plus sérieux globalement. On alterne entre deux ambiances et j’aime beaucoup ce petit jeu, qui va faire bouger la fosse comme il faut ! Six Feet Under débute avec un côté plus chill, on prend notre temps. La guitare et la batterie sont mises en avant et donnent un peu plus de dynamisme à l’ensemble, jouant sur une certaine profondeur. Le tout nous conduit à un refrain entraînant et aérien, qui donne envie de le reprendre à tue-tête et avec un côté plein d’espoir. Il est ralenti vers la fin, nous permettant d’en profiter comme il faut, avant de revenir plus fort que jamais sur la fin, se mélangeant même au chant d’une femme, percutant et puissant.
Venom nous donne envie de sauter dans tous les sens dès le début. Cela se calme un peu avec l’arrivée du chant. Les instruments passent au second plan et semblent n’attendre que d’exploser à nouveau. Le refrain se dévoile et semble plus agressif. Un titre assez court et qui a un côté assez “hymne” incroyable. Let It All Out débute avec une guitare dynamique et un chant qui colle parfaitement. La batterie se rajoute rapidement et nous prépare à quelque chose de grand. Le chant se dévoile, varie les tempo. On ne s’ennuie pas une seule seconde, passant des sonorités différentes à d’autres. Des passages vocaux qui entrent en tête rapidement et l’ensemble donne un titre complet et qui se hisse directement dans ma playlist de titres préférés. Out of Here débute avec des sonorités différentes et plus aiguës, créant rapidement une ambiance plus Far West qui nous change radicalement ! Le rythme est vraiment cool et le chant se colle dessus parfaitement. Les instruments n’apparaissent que plus tard, avec une touche de dynamisme bienvenue. A nouveau, le chant accapare toute l’attention et l’ensemble permet de faire une petite pause. On se prend vite au jeu et on se surprend à se dandiner sur notre chaise !

Watching Over You ouvre tout en douceur. On prend notre temps et le chant aussi. Les sonorités sont plutôt douces, jusqu’à une légère accélération et quelques effets sur le chant. Les instruments appuient un peu plus, sur de courts passages, qui donnent un bon rythme. Un titre simple et efficace. Sleepwalking a une ambiance assez atmosphérique pour ouvrir. Le chant s’y colle, créant quelque chose de plus sérieux et de presque mystérieux. Le refrain est différent, plus aérien et qui éclate avec la présence de chœur. Ces derniers permettent de créer quelque chose de plus profond et de jouer sur plusieurs niveaux. Un morceau globalement dynamique et intéressant, avec une fin qui se termine dans un murmure. Bleed débute directement avec le chant et la batterie qui sont derrière. On s’énerve légèrement, tout en accélérant le rythme. La pression monte et nous conduit à un refrain qui rentre en tête dès la première écoute. On joue sur le rythme, sur la profondeur et cela donne un très bon titre pour clôturer ce nouvel album.
Smash Into Pieces nous livre un nouvel album frais et captivant. J’ai été totalement conquise par ces nouveaux titres, débordants d’énergie et de passages plus doux !

Smash Into Pieces are back with a new album, Ghost Code. It follows Disconnect (2022) and is available on April 12.
Trigger begins with a catchy introduction that quickly puts the vocals to the fore. We are slowly starting this new chill adventure. Choirs quickly arrive, giving power and depth, especially with the chorus which emerges well and which gives a little pep to the whole. The second part changes a bit and ramps things up a bit. We discover a beautiful explosion during the last forty seconds and it ends the song perfectly. Afterglow opens with a piano, creating a different atmosphere, softer and more serious. We get into the game and the group comes to play with our feelings. We get a little more excited with the arrival of the drums and which leads to a more touching moment. The singing is very engaging and I really like it, as well as the instrumental passages. There is something deep that stands out and speaks to me, creating a real crush on this piece. Heroes are Calling takes influence from the previous title, before moving on to something faster and above all more dynamic. The chorus is a real explosion and comes into the lead very easily, especially with its ballad side. I really like the place of electro here, which seems to be entirely part of the group and to be a full member, perfectly amplifying the title. The addition of chorus at the end allows for even more depth and gives a more epic atmosphere.

Flow begins with a dynamic introduction that plays with the vocals. The instruments are faster and will hit a little more. A different atmosphere from the previous titles appears and makes you want to jump in all directions, overall more positive and above all radiant. We’re going to play on the rhythm, especially with a second half where we slow down and where the whole thing takes on a more serious side, punctuated by a few screams. A radically different atmosphere with a chorus that comes back stronger than ever. The Tide appears to be holding back. A song that really stands out and gives the impression of being whispered in the ear. Once again, we play on the rhythms, creating a kind of escalation and something more serious overall. We alternate between two atmospheres and I really like this little game, which will get the pit moving just right! Six Feet Under begins with a more chill side, we take our time. The guitar and drums are highlighted and give a little more dynamism to the whole, playing on a certain depth. It all leads us to a catchy and airy chorus, which makes you want to sing it again at the top of your lungs and with a side full of hope. It is slowed down towards the end, allowing us to enjoy it properly, before coming back stronger than ever at the end, even mixing with the singing of a woman, percussive and powerful.
Venom makes us want to jump around from the start. It calms down a little with the arrival of the song. The instruments fade into the background and seem just waiting to explode again. The chorus reveals itself and seems more aggressive. A fairly short title that has quite an incredible “anthem” feel to it. Let It All Out begins with a dynamic guitar and vocals that fit perfectly. The drums build up quickly and prepare us for something big. The song reveals itself, varies the tempo. We don’t get bored for a single second, moving from different sounds to others. Vocal passages that come to mind quickly and the whole gives a complete title that goes directly into my playlist of favorite titles. Out of Here begins with different and higher tones, quickly creating a more Wild West atmosphere that radically changes us! The beat is really cool and the vocals fit perfectly. The instruments only appear later, with a welcome touch of dynamism. Once again, the singing monopolizes all the attention and the whole thing allows for a little break. We quickly get into the game and find ourselves waddling in our chair!

Watching Over You opens gently. We take our time and so does the singing. The sounds are rather soft, up to a slight acceleration and some effects on the vocals. The instruments press a little more, in short passages, which give a good rhythm. A simple and effective title. Sleepwalking has quite an atmospheric vibe to open. The singing sticks to it, creating something more serious and almost mysterious. The chorus is different, more airy and bursts with the presence of the choir. These allow you to create something deeper and play on several levels. An overall dynamic and interesting piece, with an ending that ends in a whisper. Bleed begins directly with vocals and drums behind it. We get slightly angry, while accelerating the pace. The pressure builds and leads us to a chorus that comes to mind from the first listen. We play on rhythm, on depth and that gives a very good title to close this new album.
Smash Into Pieces delivers a fresh and captivating new album. I was totally won over by these new titles, overflowing with energy and softer passages!
