[ENGLISH BELOW] Le nouvel album de The Ghost Inside intitulé Searching For Solace sera disponible ce vendredi 19 avril via Epitaph Records. Chaque album du groupe étant particulièrement attendu par leur fan-base, on a pu se pencher sur celui-ci et voici ce que ça donne!
Going Under tape fort en ouverture et c’est le cas de le dire, le morceau explose dès les premières secondes, le scream de Jonathan Vigil est presque surprenant quand au refrain en chant clair il sera aisément repris en live par toutes les fosses, un titre classique de TGI mais ici on aime leurs morceaux efficaces et ce premier titre n’est absolument pas une déception. The Ghost Inside arrive comme d’habitude à allier parfaitement les moments les plus lourds mais aussi leur côté plus mélodique autant au niveau du chant que des parties instrumentales autant gorgées de parties plus émotionnelles que de grosses Mosh-Part même si les morceaux plus lourds sont carrément les bienvenus comme le single Death Grip. Light Years reprend les variations de rythmes, le chant clair est vraiment un gros plus pour TGI et emmènent les morceaux dans une dimension qui peut toucher un plus large public même si en soit, l’approche reste quelque chose d’assez classique dans le Metalcore.
Sur Secrets, on retrouve majoritairement du chant clair ce qui change un peu l’ambiance et en fait un morceau plus « posé » même si Jonathan rajoute toujours un peu plus de furie dans les morceaux bien évidemment. Probablement un des meilleurs morceaux sur ce nouvel opus. Split s’ouvre avec des riffs de guitare qui donnent un côté presque Djent et plus technique à son intro, on va d’ailleurs retrouver ce côté Djenty tout le long du morceau un choix assez intéressant face au côté plus Heavy apporté par la batterie et le scream du leader. Le single Wash It Away continue sur sa lancée avec toujours son côté très hymnique dans le refrain qui donne envie de hurler à plein poumons. Beaucoup de morceaux sont centrés sur le fait de reprendre confiance en soi et de se battre pour soi-même comme Wash It Away, des thématiques assez récurrentes dans le milieu plus Hardcore dans lequel The Ghost Inside évolue également. Moment surprenant là encore, Cityscapes casse le rythme en étant une « ballade » mais l’impression est vite fausse car là encore les guitares et les parties vocales screamées reviennent bien vite mais le chant clair se veut bien plus « Emo » que sur les précédents titres. Searching For Solace va se refermer avec Breathless , le groupe innove et propose de nouvelles sonorités un peu « Electro » subtiles comme sur Wash It Away, mais également un final accoustique pour clore ce nouveau chapitre en douceur.
Searching For Solace ne sera sûrement pas l’album de l’année mais comme chaque album de The Ghost Inside, il vaut largement son écoute, le groupe arrivant parfaitement à maîtriser son côté fédérateur mais également son côté plus émotionnel. Un très bon album dont on retrouvera sûrement des extraits dans leur set-list lors de leur passage à Paris le 18 octobre prochain au Bataclan.

[ENGLISH VERSION] The Ghost Inside‘s new album, Searching For Solace, will be available this Friday 19 April via Epitaph Records. As each of the band’s albums is eagerly awaited by their fanbase, we were able to take a closer look at this one, and here’s what it sounds like!
Going Under kicks off the album with a bang, and there’s no denying it: the track explodes from the very first seconds, Jonathan Vigil‘s scream is almost surprising, and the clean-singing chorus will easily be taken up live by any pit. It’s a classic TGI track, but here we love their effective songs, and this first track is by no means a disappointment. As usual, The Ghost Inside manage to perfectly combine the heavier moments with their more melodic side, both in terms of the vocals and the instrumental parts, which are as full of emotional parts as they are of big mosh-parts, although the heavier tracks are very welcome, like the single Death Grip. Light Years takes up the rhythmic variations, the clean vocals are a real plus for TGI and take the tracks into a dimension that can appeal to a wider audience, even if the approach remains fairly classic metalcore.
Secrets features mostly clean vocals, which changes the mood a little and makes it a more ‘composed’ track, even if Jonathan always adds a little more fury to the songs, of course. Probably one of the best tracks on this new opus. Split opens with guitar riffs that give an almost Djent-like, more technical feel to its intro, and this Djenty feel is to be found throughout the track, a rather interesting choice compared to the heavier side provided by the drums and the leader’s scream. The single Wash It Away continues in the same vein, with its anthemic chorus making you want to scream at the top of your lungs. Many of the tracks, like Wash It Away, are centred on regaining self-confidence and fighting for oneself, themes that are fairly recurrent in the more hardcore scene in which The Ghost Inside also operate. Surprisingly, Cityscapes breaks the rhythm by being a « ballad », but the impression is quickly proven wrong, as here again the guitars and screamed vocal parts return very quickly, but the clear vocals are much more « Emo » than on the previous tracks. Searching For Solace closes with Breathless, the band breaking new ground with subtle new ‘electro’ sounds like on Wash It Away, as well as an acoustic finale to bring this new chapter to a gentle close.
Searching For Solace will certainly not be the album of the year, but like every album by The Ghost Inside, it’s well worth a listen, the band managing perfectly to master both its unifying and its more emotional sides. It’s a very good album, and we’re sure you’ll find extracts from it in their set-list when they play in Paris at Le Bataclan on 18 October.
