[ENGLISH BELOW] Après avoir sorti une collection de singles et 2 EP, l’artiste Pop-Punk LØLØ s’apprête à sortir son premier album, falling for robots and wishing i was one , le 7 juin prochain via Hopeless Records.
C’est une intro tout en douceur et accoustique qui va ouvrir ce tout premier opus la voix de la chanteuse et l’ambiance générale semblant tout droit sortir d’un rêve avant le single omg, des couplets relativement sobres avant l’explosion Punk-Rock du refrain. Ce premier titre parle du sentiment d’accablement et plus généralement du manque de confiance en soi avec notamment une petite référence au groupe Green Day ( « Will I ever be as cool as Green Day? »). faceplant et 2 of us sont également des morceaux bien connus de la fan-base, le premier étant un morceau de Rock Alternatif entraînant avec pour thématique le fait de tomber (au sens propre de la chute) amoureux et le second semble être une ballade qui se transforme en morceau Rock assez rapidement, quelque chose en soit d’assez basique mais de relativement efficace, la chanteuse aborde ici les relations toxique et le fait de ne pas vouloir laisser partir quelqu’un de nocif pour nous ( « When tears roll down my eyes onto my cheeks, onto my chest.Oh my god, I look pathetic ’cause you rip my heart in two And I’m still tryna see the good in you »).
gloria est donc le premier titre vraiment inédit sur cet album, une chanson accoustique sur laquelle la voix de LØLØ se veut touchante, un des premiers morceaux sur lequel sa voix est vraiment mise en avant! 15 morceaux cela peut sembler long mais ici les morceaux de l’artiste sont vraiment courts et le 6ème morceau et single Pop-Rock u turn me on (but u give me depression) prend place avec son refrain entraînant qui tourne encore une fois autour d’un chagrin d’amour avant wish i was a robot plus calme qui parle du fait de ne rien vouloir ressentir comme un robot pour éviter de trop ressentir. S’en suit le banger hot girls in hell qui commence doucement avant l’arrivée du côté très entraînant et quoi de mieux pour aborder les relations toxiques et se sentir presque powerful en l’écoutant? L’album alterne entre morceaux plus calmes et plus Rock comme l’enchaînement *thoughts from the shower* et le single poser même si on a vu plus entraînant comme titre sur l’album pour l’instant. kill the girl est un nouveau banger bien plus entraînant que poser et après la jolie ballade *snow in berlin*. Le schéma s’avère long et surtout répétitif avant le morceau final u & the tin man où la chanteuse y dissémine des références au Magicien d’Oz et notamment à l’homme de fer blanc.
falling for robots and wishing i was one est un bon premier jet pour une artiste comme LØLØ, presque teenage et vulnérable, qui aborde des thèmes intemporels le principal ici étant les chagrins d’amour. Même si le final de l’album semble un peu ralenti et presque trop monotone, la chanson finale permet de casser ce rythme. LØLØ est bien sûr une artiste à découvrir sur scène comme j’ai pu le faire à Eindhoven l’an dernier où son humour et son talent sont bien plus parlants.

[ENGLISH VERSION] After releasing a collection of singles and 2 EPs, Pop-Punk artist LØLØ is set to release her debut album, falling for robots and wishing i was one , on June 7 via Hopeless Records.
This debut opus opens with a gentle, accoustic intro, the singer’s voice and general ambience seeming to come straight out of a dream, before the single omg, relatively sober verses and the punk-rock explosion of the chorus. This first track deals with feelings of overwhelm and, more generally, lack of self-confidence, including a small reference to the band Green Day (« Will I ever be as cool as Green Day? »). faceplant and 2 of us are also familiar tracks to the fan-base, the former being a catchy alternative rock track about falling (literally) in love, and the latter seems to be a ballad that turns into a rock song pretty quickly, something quite basic but relatively effective, the singer dealing here with toxic relationships and not wanting to let go of someone harmful to us (« When tears roll down my eyes onto my cheeks, onto my chest. Oh my god, I look pathetic ’cause you rip my heart in two And I’m still tryna see the good in you »).
gloria is the first truly original track on this album, an accoustic song on which LØLØ‘s voice is touching, one of the first tracks on which her voice really comes to the fore! 15 tracks may seem like a long time, but here the artist’s songs are really short, and the 6th track and Pop-Rock single u turn me on (but u give me depression) takes its place with its catchy chorus, which once again revolves around a calmer heartbreak wish i was a robot, about not wanting to feel anything like a robot to avoid feeling too much. This is followed by the banger hot girls in hell, which gets off to a gentle start before arriving on the very catchy side, and what better way to deal with toxic relationships and feel almost powerful while listening to it? The album alternates between calmer and rockier tracks, such as the sequence *thoughts from the shower* and the single poser, even if we’ve seen a catchier track on the album so far. kill the girl is a new banger, much catchier than poser, and follows the pretty ballad *snow in berlin*. The pattern proves long and mostly repetitive before the final track u & the tin man, where the singer scatters references to the Wizard of Oz and in particular the Tin Man.
Falling for robots and wishing i was one is a good first draft for an artist like LØLØ, almost teenage and vulnerable, tackling timeless themes – the main one here being heartbreak. Even if the album’s finale seems a little slowed down and almost too monotonous, the final song breaks the rhythm. LØLØ is of course an artist to discover live, as I did in Eindhoven last year, where her humor and talent speak for themselves.
