A l’occasion de la sortie de leur deuxième album Chapter II : Legacy nous avons eu la chance de poser quelques questions à Korbinian bassiste d’Ad Infinitum.

1. Salut, peux-tu nous présenter le groupe ?
Salut moi c’est Korbinian d’Ad Infinitum. Nous sommes un groupe relativement jeune de Metal symphonique d’Allemagne et du Danemark.
2. Peux-tu nous décrire le groupe en 3 mots ?
Puissant, intense, énergique.
3. Quel est votre processus pour écrire des chansons ?
Tout le monde apporte ses idées et on travaille ensemble comme un groupe. Pour Chapter II en raison de la pandémie et du confinement, nous l’avons écrit par Skype.
4. Quel chanson de cet album te représentes le plus ?
C’est difficile à dire. Elles sont comme des enfants. Nous les aimons tous déjà. Chacunes représente l’album. Nous sommes plus intéressés par ce qu’en pense les fans.
5. Peux-tu nous parler des noms des deux albums et l’histoire qu’il y a derrière ?
Nous voulions écrire à propos de Vlad Tepes alias Dracula. Pour certains c’était un tyran qui a oppressé les gens, pour les autres il défendait son pays de l’invasion ottoman et pour la plupart il est à l’origine du mythe des vampires. C’est en raison de ses trois facettes de sa personnalité qu’il en est un sujet fascinant pour l’album.
6. Pourquoi avoir choisi Nils Moulin pour Afterlife ?
Nils est l’un des meilleurs chanteurs de Metal et sa voix collait parfaitement a la chanson Afterlife. Au début nous osions pas lui demander puis un jour nous avons tenté et par chance il a accepté.
7. Quel est votre premier influence musicale ?
Chacun d’entre nous a sa propre influence mais pour ma part c’était les albums de mes parents Van Halen, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Rolling Stones ect… Plus tard à l’adolescence j’ai découvert Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Nightwish, et d’autres groupes de Metal géniaux.
8. Avec quel groupe souhaiterais tu travailler ?
Pour ma part je réaliserais un rêve de travailler avec Nightwish ou Within Temptation.
9. Qui a dessiné le visuel de l’album ? Peux tu nous parler de ce qu’il représente ?
Nous travaillons avec Nat Enemede qui est espagnole. Elle a un talent incroyable et c’est elle qui a fait le visuel pour Chapter II : Legacy.
10. Pourquoi avoir choisi cette apparence pour le groupe ?
Nous avons une vision et quelques idées quand nous écrivions les chansons et on les a partagées avec Nat Enemede. Ensemble avec sa créativité et le visuel déjà existant c’est comme ça que le look est né. Les nouveaux masques ont été dessinés et crées par Sofia Daümler et Valentina Stoisits de Munich en Allemagne.
11.Dans toute ta discographie quelle chanson préfères tu jouer en live et pourquoi ?
C’est difficile à dire. Il y en a pleins. Pour en nommer qu’une par album je dirai Live Before You Die de Chapter I et Unstoppable de Chapter II.

1. Hi, Can you start by introducing the band for us?
Hi, this is Korbinian from Ad Infinitum. We are a relatively new band from Denmark and Germany. Many describe our style with the term symphonic metal.
2. Can you describe the band with 3 words ?
Power, Intensity and Energy.
3. What’s your process to write songs ?
Everybody brings in his / her own ideas and we work together on them as a band. For Chapter II and because of the pandemic and lockdowns we wrote the songs via Skype.
4. Which songs on this album represent you the most ?
That’s very hard to say. They are like our children. We love them all dearly. Each one represents the album. We are way more interested what the listeners think about the songs.
5. Can you talk about the name of both albums and tell us the story behind ?
We wanted to write about Vlad Tepes aka Dracula. For some he was a tyrant who oppressed his people, for others he defended his homeland against the invading Ottomans and for most he is known as the origin of the myth of vampires.
This three part aspect of his persona makes him a fascinating topic to write an album.
6. Why did you choose Nils Molin for “Afterlife” ?
Nils is one of the best singers in metal and his voice fits perfectly into the song Afterlife. At first we didn’t dare asking him, but then we decided to just go for it and luckily he said yes.
7. What’s your first music influence ( Bandname) ?
Each one of us has their own first influences but for me (Korbinian) it is the LPs of my parents. Van Halen, Deep Purple, ACDC, Whitesnake, Rolling Stones etc…Later in my teens I discovered Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Nightwish and then more and more great metal bands.
8. Which band would you like to work with ?
For me personally it would be a dream come true to work with Nightwish or Within Temptation.
9. Who designed the album visual ? Can you talk about what’s the representation?
We worked together with Nat Enemede from Spain. She is incredibly talented and she did the pictures and artwork for Chapter II – Legacy.
10. Why did you choose this look like for the band ?
We had a vision and some ideas when we wrote the songs, we shared them with Nat Enemede. Together with her creativity the current artwork and look came into life. The new masks were designed and crafted by Sofia Däumler and Valentina Stoisits from Munich, Germany.
11. In all your discography, which song is your favorite to perform and why ?
That’s hard to say. There are many. If I have to name one of each album it is Live before you die from Chapter I and Unstoppable from Chapter II.
