Stand Atlantic : F.E.A.R (EN)

Stand Atlantic‘s third album, F.E.A.R (Fuck Everything And Run) will be released this Friday via Hopeless Records. After all the singles and especially the top collaborations, is the rest of the album in the same vein?

The opener doomsday is probably my favourite new track from the Aussies, it’s full of pop energy and it’s the kind of track that automatically puts you in a good mood. . we find here elements that the band already worked on the previous album (Pink Elephant) like the electronic drums and the synth parts. as for the vocals and the content of the lyrics, it’s clearly one of the first tracks on which Bonnie releases all her frustrations. pity party with with Royal & The Serpent remains in the same vein but is still a fucking anthem against hypocrisy, for sure this track is going to be a big hit live, I’m a big fan of it since it’s release.

On F.E.A.R, Bonnie‘s lyrics take on a whole new dimension, especially on van gogh and its cool metaphor (« shall I pull a Van Gogh? I’ll do anything to shut you up… ».) for the cultural reminder, Mr. Van Gogh cut off an ear…, the scratch riffs undoubtedly take us back to the Skinny Dipping album. hair out is just another banger, the kind of sound that makes you want to run into the pit with your mates for a little family pit, the guys don’t lose the rhythm and accompany Bonnie to the max, a crazy track once again! Of course we find deathwish (so best featuring ever) with nothing.nowhere, a more Pop track with a typical Pop-Punk chorus where the rapper’s verse is grafted on samples. deathwish is since its release one of my favorite tracks and continues to turn in loop at the same time this collaboration is just crazy!

On switchblade, the more Pop melodies mix perfectly with more…Hard-Rock chords! Special mention for Potter‘s super efficient guitar solo. nails from the back, this time the band operates a change of pace for something slower, still in a punchy but more quiet atmosphere like in the Coffee At Midnight era (and god I missed this atmosphere in their tracks), basically this track will definitely please the fans of the first hour (like me). On bloodclot, it’s Bonnie‘s voice that definitely made the biggest impression on me, the frontwoman sings with her guts and gets the fans in the same place.

xo is clearly the most experimental track on this album, the band continues to break all barriers with this very Emo Pop compo! Cabin Fever is literally the darker side of STAT, the track starts with a gloomy Trap sound on which Bonnie‘s voice is laid down before things accelerate with the arrival of the other band members for a Punk but angsty chorus and above all we hear Bonnie really screaming and damn the surprise is crazy (« I’m gonna f*ck it all up with some real weird shit! »). The album ends with a final banger, Molotov [OK], a furious, fast and effective track on which Bonnie faces her inner demons to break the societal norms.

In short, I would have thought that Carpenter Brut would be my album of the year, but it’s not! Stand Atlantic beat him to the punch, this album is full of hits but also more experimental tracks but also a new fury and here I love it! Can’t wait for Slamdunk to see these new tracks on stage!
