Après plusieurs EP, le groupe australien Void of Vision revient avec un nouvel album : What i’ll Leave Behind, qui nous permet d’entrer pleinement dans la nouvelle ère du groupe. Ce dernier sera disponible dès le 20 septembre, via UNFD.
Ce nouvel album débute avec Oblivion qui ouvre avec un beau scream et des instruments énervés. La présence de sonorités électro est également présente et fait maintenant partie intégrante de l’identité du groupe. Un chant rapide et qui va se calmer au moment du refrain, qui est prenant et assez calme. J’aime beaucoup la dualité qui se crée ici et je suis totalement convaincue par ce refrain. L’instrumentalité est forte et imposante, nous proposant un premier morceau incroyable. Blood for Blood débute avec un chant assez lointain où il se mélange avec l’électro, il prend finalement le premier plan et le tout devient explosif et très rapide. Les instruments tabassent comme jamais et l’électro vient ponctuer l’ensemble de quelques touches. Quelques effets sur le chant viennent pointer le bout de leur nez et permettent de relancer le titre. Le tout se conclut d’une façon incroyable et nous promet un album sensationnel. Supernova est l’un des morceaux qui m’a le plus marqué. On trouve la présence de chant féminin qui renforce l’univers et la profondeur, un chant masculin très rapide et qui vient vraiment rythmer l’ensemble. Le chant clair montre une nouvelle fois sa puissance et de nombreuses sonorités vont nous surprendre.

Neurotic a une instrumentalité forte et des sonorités décalées. Le chant semble même différent des titres précédents, le tout créant une ambiance assez étrange. L’ajout d’un chant féminin en devient même presque dérangeant. Le titre entre vite en tête, mettant en avant le chant clair et laissant une position secondaire aux scream. Le final est vraiment explosif et crée encore plus de profondeur. Gamma Knife débute avec de l’électro entraînant et un chant qui semble plus être des paroles, énoncées très rapidement. Le rythme semble s’accélérer à l’infini et le tout éclate, laissant place au chant clair. Le mélange des deux genres est intéressant et le refrain, très énergique, va très bien soudé les deux ensemble. Un titre lourd et violent où l’électro arrive à se glisser et renforcer le tout. L’introduction de Beautiful Things est entièrement basée sur des notes électro, puissante et dynamique. L’ensemble évolue doucement, notamment avec l’apparition du chant clair. Cela donne quelque chose de plus intime, se combinant parfaitement ensemble et captivant les auditeurs. Un titre qui change et qui marque.
Empty est l’un de mes morceaux coup de cœur, il débute avec un chant dynamique et mis en avant, avant que tout n’explose. Cela se calme un peu mais va vite repartir dans son rythme de croisière. Le refrain en clair est une vraie force, débordant d’énergie et avec une touche aérienne. Une nouvelle fois, une dualité va se créer et j’aime l’effet que cela donne au titre. Quelques courtes pauses viennent ponctuer le tout et redonner de l’énergie à un titre qui en déborde déjà. Midnight Sweat a un rythme rapide et très électro et les instruments viennent s’y ajouter, conservant cette vibe, donnant le sentiment que cela ne s’arrêtera jamais. Le chant va venir apporter un surplus de violence et tout va se mettre au même niveau, nous enfonçant toujours plus. Un morceau complet mais surtout puissant. L’introduction de Decades a des notes assez claires et va se calmer avec l’apparition du chant. Le clair va être un peu différent mais il nous conduit à un refrain puissant et qui fait face à une belle violence instrumentale. Il va finalement s’imposer toujours plus et l’ensemble va tout piétiner sur son passage. Arrive le dernier titre : Angel of Darkness. Le chant clair semble assez loin et surtout doux, les instruments sont quant à eux au premier plan. Il y a un côté pop, assez intriguant, qui ressort et qui s’adapte très bien. Le rythme reste le même, mettant en avant le dynamisme du groupe et l’agressivité que le chant peut apporter.
J’écoute Void of Vision depuis leur début et le groupe ne m’a jamais déçu. Ils m’ont surpris, donné envie de sauter dans tous les sens et surtout hâte de les voir, encore et encore, en concert. Ce nouvel album regorge de pépites et continue de creuser l’univers du groupe, sombre et violent, comme on les aime.

After several EPs, the Australian group Void of Vision returns with a new album: What i’ll Leave Behind, which allows us to fully enter the new era of the group. The latter will be available from September 20, via UNFD.
This new album begins with Oblivion which opens with a beautiful scream and angry instruments. The presence of electro sounds is also present and is now an integral part of the group’s identity. A fast song which will calm down during the chorus, which is gripping and quite calm. I really like the duality that is created here and I am totally convinced by this chorus. The instrumentality is strong and imposing, offering us an incredible first piece. Blood for Blood begins with a fairly distant song where it mixes with electro, it finally takes the foreground and everything becomes explosive and very fast. The instruments beat like never before and the electro punctuates the whole with a few touches. Some effects on the vocals come to the fore and allow us to revive the title. It all ends in an incredible way and promises us a sensational album. Supernova is one of the songs that struck me the most. We find the presence of female singing which reinforces the universe and the depth, very fast male singing which really punctuates the whole. Clean singing once again shows its power and many sounds will surprise us.

Neurotic has a strong instrumentality and offbeat sounds. The singing even seems different from the previous tracks, all creating a rather strange atmosphere. The addition of female vocals even becomes almost disturbing. The title quickly comes to the fore, highlighting the clean vocals and leaving a secondary position for the screams. The finale is truly explosive and creates even more depth. Gamma Knife begins with catchy electro and singing that seems more like lyrics, spoken very quickly. The rhythm seems to accelerate infinitely and everything explodes, giving way to clean singing. The mixture of the two genres is interesting and the chorus, very energetic, welds the two together very well. A heavy and violent track where electro manages to slip in and reinforce everything. The introduction to Beautiful Things is entirely based on electro notes, powerful and dynamic. The whole thing evolves slowly, particularly with the appearance of clean vocals. This results in something more intimate, combining perfectly together and captivating listeners. A title that changes and marks.
Empty is one of my favorite songs, it begins with a dynamic and forward vocal, before everything explodes. It calms down a little but will quickly return to its cruising speed. The clear chorus is a real force, brimming with energy and with an airy touch. Once again, a duality will be created and I like the effect that this gives to the title. A few short pauses punctuate everything and restore energy to a track that is already overflowing with it. Midnight Sweat has a fast and very electro rhythm and the instruments add to it, maintaining this vibe, giving the feeling that it will never stop. The singing will bring an excess of violence and everything will be at the same level, pushing us ever deeper. A complete but above all powerful piece. The introduction to Decades has quite clear notes and will calm down with the appearance of the vocals. The clear one will be a little different but it leads us to a powerful chorus which faces a beautiful instrumental violence. It will ultimately impose itself more and more and the whole will trample everything in its path. The last title arrives: Angel of Darkness. The clean vocals seem quite far away and above all soft, the instruments are in the foreground. There is a pop side, quite intriguing, which stands out and which adapts very well. The rhythm remains the same, highlighting the dynamism of the group and the aggressiveness that singing can bring.
I’ve been listening to Void of Vision since their debut and the band has never disappointed me. They surprised me, made me want to jump in all directions and above all look forward to seeing them, again and again, in concert. This new album is full of gems and continues to explore the group’s universe, dark and violent, just as we like them.
