Vendredi 18 octobre au Bataclan, c’était une soirée 100% américaine by Live Nation ! Boundaries, Gideon, et The Ghost Inside ont tout donné, et l’ambiance était survoltée. La salle, presque pleine, murmurait d’impatience, chacun dans le public savait qu’on allait vivre quelque chose d’intense. Pas de doute, on allait ressortir secoués de cette soirée entre metalcore et hardcore, et sûrement avec quelques courbatures.
Boundaries
À 19h15, les lumières s’éteignent, et Boundaries débarque sur scène, prêts à balancer un set massif. Les gars viennent tout droit du Connecticut, et ils ne sont pas là pour faire dans la dentelle. Pas de gros effets de scène, juste un backdrop discret, mais dès les premiers riffs, on comprend qu’on va en prendre plein les oreilles. Leur musique, c’est du brut, une bonne dose de hurlements, des guitares tranchantes, et une énergie presque palpable. C’est un groupe que j’affectionne particulièrement depuis le début de cette année, un véritable coup de foudre musical. Le fait que le chant soit partagé avec le batteur est pour le moins impressionnant, et quelle voix, en plus ! J’étais là surtout pour eux ce soir-là, car les voir en France, c’est assez exceptionnel ! Les trois voix se relaient, s’entremêlent, pour un effet de contraste vraiment puissant. Ils enchaînent quelques titres de leur dernier album, *Death Is Little More* , comme “I’d Rather Not Say” et “Realized and Rebuild » et, malgré la salle qui continue de se remplir, les pogos démarrent sans attendre. Boundaries fait une sacrée entrée en matière, et on sent que le public en redemande déjà. Nombreux sont ceux qui ne connaissaient pas ce groupe fantastique et sont ressortis conquis. Une étoile montante !
Gideon
Après le raz-de-marée Boundaries, Gideon prend le relais. Ces mecs viennent d’Alabama, et dès que les visuels aux couleurs chaudes apparaissent, on sent l’ambiance du Sud américain. Le chanteur Daniel McWhorter arrive en cowboy avec un stetson et une veste moumoutée, prêt à faire monter la température d’un cran. Leur son mélange hardcore et rapcore, avec des basses lourdes et des riffs imposants. Et McWhorter sait comment chauffer la salle, il n’a aucun mal à faire réagir la foule, qui pogote et se laisse emporter par les breakdowns massifs. Ils nous jouent des morceaux de leur dernier album, *MORE POWER. MORE PAIN.* , et c’est un vrai déchaînement. En plein milieu du set, Aaron Matts, chanteur de Ten56., débarque pour un duo sur “Cursed” , et l’effet est immédiat. La tension monte encore, jusqu’à l’ultime “No Love/No One” , où McWhorter fait ouvrir un wall of death. Pas de répit, ça bastonne et ça transpire. Gideon, c’est la dose d’adrénaline qu’il fallait avant la tête d’affiche, et ils n’ont clairement pas déçu.
The Ghost Inside
Et là, c’est enfin au tour de The Ghost Inside. Le groupe, qui fête ses 20 ans cette année, démarre en force avec “Death Grip” et “Earn It.” Le chanteur Jonathan Vigil, casquette vissée et bombers sur le dos, se donne à fond, allant au contact des fans, qui chantent en chœur, scandent les paroles, et semblent complètement connectés au groupe. Le Bataclan devient un vrai champ de bataille, avec des fans en surf dans le pit, des mosh pits, et une énergie contagieuse qui ne retombe jamais. Vigil tente même quelques mots en français, histoire de communiquer avec le public. Le groupe joue plusieurs titres de leur dernier album, *Searching For Solace* , mais on a aussi droit aux classiques qui déclenchent les plus gros mouvements dans la foule. Mention spéciale à Andrew Tkaczyk, le batteur, qui impressionne par son énergie malgré sa prothèse, une véritable leçon de résilience et de détermination. Cet homme est pour moi, en tant qu’ancienne batteuse, une idole, et j’ai été extrêmement émue de le voir enfin pour la première fois. Quand “Engine 45” résonne pour conclure le show, c’est toute la salle qui chante à l’unisson, applaudissant le groupe pour cette prestation intense.

Ce concert a été une véritable claque. Boundaries a parfaitement lancé les hostilités, Gideon a fait monter la température, et The Ghost Inside a porté la soirée à son apogée avec une énergie débordante. Trois groupes, trois univers qui se complètent, et un public qui a répondu présent du début à la fin. On repart lessivés, mais avec un sourire immense et des souvenirs plein la tête. Cette soirée était bien plus qu’un concert ; c’était un moment de partage, de rage et d’émotion.

On Friday, October 18th, the Bataclan hosted a 100% American night by Live Nation ! Boundaries, Gideon, and The Ghost Inside gave it their all, with a charged atmosphere throughout the evening. The nearly full venue hummed with anticipation, and everyone knew we were in for something intense. No doubt, we were about to walk out of there shaken by this night of metalcore and hardcore, and probably with a few aches.

At 7:15 pm, the lights go down, and Boundaries take the stage, ready to deliver a massive set. These guys come straight from Connecticut, and they’re not here to mess around. No elaborate stage effects, just a simple backdrop, but from the very first riffs, you know you’re in for a powerful experience. Their sound is raw, with intense screams, sharp guitars, and an almost tangible energy. I’ve loved this band since the start of the year—it was an instant musical crush. Having the drummer share vocal duties is impressive, and what a voice too! I was mostly there to see them that night, as catching them in France is quite a rare treat. The three voices alternate and intertwine, creating a truly powerful contrast. They dive into a few tracks from their latest album, *Death Is Little More* , like “I’d Rather Not Say” and “Realized and Rebuild” , and even though the crowd is still filling in, mosh pits start immediately. Boundaries make an impressive entrance, and you can already tell the audience wants more. Many in the crowd who didn’t know this fantastic band walked away as new fans. A rising star!
Gideon
After Boundaries’ tidal wave, Gideon takes over. These guys hail from Alabama, and as soon as the warm visuals light up the stage, you can feel the Southern vibe. Lead singer Daniel McWhorter steps out dressed like a cowboy with a stetson and fur-lined jacket, ready to raise the heat. Their sound blends hardcore and rapcore, with heavy bass and powerful riffs. McWhorter knows how to work the crowd, easily getting reactions, as the audience moshes and rides the massive breakdowns. They play some tracks from their latest album, *MORE POWER. MORE PAIN.* , and it’s total chaos. In the middle of the set, Aaron Matts, singer of Ten56., joins for a duet on “Cursed” , and the effect is immediate. The tension rises even higher, leading up to the final “No Love/No One” , where McWhorter opens a wall of death. There’s no pause—it’s brutal and intense. Gideon was the perfect adrenaline shot before the headliner, and they certainly didn’t disappoint.
The Ghost Inside
Then, it’s finally time for The Ghost Inside. Celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, the band opens powerfully with “Death Grip” and “Earn It” . Lead singer Jonathan Vigil, with his cap on and bomber jacket, goes all out, interacting with fans who sing along, chant lyrics, and seem completely in tune with the band. The Bataclan turns into a battlefield, with fans crowd-surfing in the pit, mosh pits forming, and an infectious energy that never lets up. Vigil even throws in a few words in French, adding to the connection with the crowd. The band plays several tracks from their latest album, *Searching For Solace* , but we also get the classic hits that trigger the wildest reactions in the audience. Special mention to drummer Andrew Tkaczyk, who astounds with his energy despite his prosthetic leg, a true lesson in resilience and determination. As a former drummer myself, he’s an idol to me, and seeing him live for the first time was incredibly moving. When “Engine 45” echoes to close the show, the entire venue sings along, applauding the band for such an intense performance.

Leaving the Bataclan, we all had the same feeling: this concert was a real blast. Boundaries started the hostilities perfectly, Gideon raised the intensity, and The Ghost Inside took the night to its peak with boundless energy. Three bands, three styles that complement each other, and a crowd that was fully engaged from start to finish. We left exhausted but with huge smiles and memories to last a lifetime. This night was more than a concert; it was a moment of connection, raw energy, and emotion.
