[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Sorti ce 24 Avril après une carrière sur 40 ans, le groupe SEPULTURA nous prépare à la fin avec leur EP de 4 titres “ THE CLOUD OF UNKNOWING” un titre évocateur, une dernière déclaration forte pour clôturer cette magnifique carrière, nous avons eu la chance de l’écouter en avant première.
L’album s’ouvre sur le titre “ ALL SOULS RISING” une vraie claque , une ouverture dans le vif du sujet et puissante, avec une instrumentale orchestrale en fond qui fait monter la tension.
Les riffs de guitares sont incroyables et techniques, ainsi que bien placés dans le morceau.
Les lyrics sont incisifs et accompagnés d’un scream qui sort du plus profond de soi,
Le morceau inspiré d’un livre sur la rébellion des esclaves en 1780 à Haïti, nous projette un peu dans ce qui se passe actuellement dans notre société, un titre légèrement politique mais très bien exécuté.
Le second titre “ BEYOND THE DREAM” s’ouvre sur une instrumentale aux consonances plus country, très différentes du morceau précédent, mais très agréable à écouter.
La voix de DERRICK GREEN très grave et posée presque reposante, suivie de la guitare et de ses riffs endiablé.
Un morceau très complet où la voix et les instruments se complètent d’une façon incroyable.
“SACRED BOOKS” quant à lui est plus puissant aussi, dans le même thème que “ALL SOULS RISING” un morceau qui attaque et puissant, une sorte de claque dès les première notes, un morceau de 2 minutes 52 qui nous offre ce côté metal, mais aussi classique avec ce mélange de piano avec les riffs de guitare, un morceau court mais, net et précis avec un scream présent et presque venu d’ailleurs.
l’EP se termine par “ THE PLACE” 5 minutes 59, une sorte d’en revoir du groupe, une ouverture sur une guitare progressive qui monte crescendo, ce morceau est aussi une
reflection sur la société actuelle, un peu comme le premier morceau, la voix de DERRICK est incroyable dans ce morceau posée et délicate, avec un fry assez puissant qui lui aussi monte crescendo, un morceau très intéressant techniquement parlant avec des riffs fort.
l’EP de SEPULTURA est un vrai en revoir au fan et un remerciement pour ses 40 années de carrière,, un EP sans filtre , libre et humain, une dernière offrande avec le rideau qui se ferme sur cette carrière monumentale sur un groupe aussi puissant et versatile dans son genre, SEPULTURA restera une pointure dans le genre et clôture bien sa carrière.

[ENGLISH VERSION] Released on April 24 after a 40-year career, the band SEPULTURA is preparing us for the end with their 4-track EP “THE CLOUD OF UNKNOWING” an evocative title and a final, powerful statement to bring this magnificent career to a close. We were lucky enough to get an early listen.
The album opens with the track “ALL SOULS RISING” a real punch to the gut, a powerful, straight-to-the-point opener, with an orchestral instrumental in the background that builds the tension.The guitar riffs are incredible and technically masterful, as well as perfectly placed within the song.The lyrics are incisive and accompanied by a scream that comes from the deepest part of one’s being,
The track, inspired by a book about the 1780 slave rebellion in Haiti, offers a glimpse into what’s currently happening in our society, a slightly political song, but one that’s very well executed.
The second track, “BEYOND THE DREAM,” opens with a more country-sounding instrumental, quite different from the previous track, but very pleasant to listen to.
DERRICK GREEN’s voice is very deep and calm, almost soothing, followed by the guitar and its wild riffs.
A very well-rounded track where the vocals and instruments complement each other incredibly well.
“SACRED BOOKS,” meanwhile, is also more powerful, following the same theme as “ALL SOULS RISING” a track that hits hard and packs a punch, a real slap in the face from the very first notes. This 2-minute-52-second track offers a metal edge, yet also a classical touch with its blend of piano and guitar riffs; it’s a short track, but crisp and precise, featuring a scream that feels almost otherworldly.
The EP concludes with “THE PLACE” (5 minutes 59 seconds), a sort of farewell from the band, opening with a progressive guitar that builds to a crescendo. This track is also a reflection on today’s society, much like the first track; DERRICK’s vocals are incredible here, calm and delicate, with a fairly powerful growl that also builds to a crescendo. It’s a very interesting track technically speaking, featuring strong riffs.
SEPULTURA’s EP is a true farewell to the fans and a thank you for their 40-year career as an unfiltered, free, and human EP, a final offering as the curtain closes on this monumental career of a band as powerful and versatile as any in its genre. SEPULTURA will remain a heavyweight in the genre and bring their career to a fitting close.
