Le groupe de Hard Rock suisse Gotthard revient avec un nouvel album intitulé Stereo Crush, disponible depuis le 21 Mars 2025 par le label Reigning Phoenix Music.
Pour commencer cette aventure, AI & I qui parle du fait d’avoir un crush numérique sur fond de guitare saturée, rythme entêtant, et de paroles plutôt très suggestives. Ensuite c’est une chanson au rythme Pop / Rock mélancolique qui débarque avec Thunder & Lightning. La mélancolie continue avec Rusty Rose et son introduction aux inspiration modèle de synthé et malgré une bonne rythmique, la chanson devient très vite redondante. La même sentence s’applique ici avec Shake Shake, qui m’a ennuyée en à peine 30 secondes car j’ai une énorme sensation de déjà entendu.
Une introduction piano, un tempo lent avec une signature vocale minimaliste et en prime une guitare dépressive, pas de doute c’est bien un slow/Rock qui s’appelle Burning Bridges ou dans un registre similaire nous avons Life qui fait son apparition. Mais la solitude est de courte durée avec Drive My Car et Liverpool qui repartent sur les codes du Hard Rock que l’on apprécie tant. Le plus surprenant avec Boom Boom c’est que le tempo est définit par des battements de cœur par le biais d’un échographe. En effet le morceau est, à mon humble avis, une déclaration d’amour d’un parent à son nouveau-né, une belle métaphore.
Par contre Devil In The Moonlight présente enfin un potentiel incroyable avec une basse très appuyée et ça fait plaisir à entendre. Sans compter que le refrain m’a aussi fait bouger la tête en rythme et m’a emmenée en voyage dans un bar au fin fond du Tennessee, le comble pour un groupe suisse. Dig A Little Deeper essaye de s’inspirer de son prédécesseur avec une mélodie axée plus sur la basse et c’est un bon point mais les vagues de country qui ressortent ne collent pas vraiment mais je reconnais l’effort qui est fourni. Et pour finir on reste sur l’inspiration Country / Folk avec These Are The Days et son air d’harmonica qui fait du bien mais reste malheureusement trop hors du temps avec le reste de l’album.
Gotthard propose un album aux multiples variations de rythme, avec un large spectre de style et d’émotions balayés. Cependant je trouve que le groupe s’éparpille un peu dans la construction générale de cet opus et sur la durée car il en devient long dès le début. Cela reste un bon album qui reste accessible à tous les néophytes de la planète, tout comme aux fans de la première heure.

Swiss hard rock band Gotthard is back with a new album entitled Stereo Crush, available from Reigning Phoenix Music on March 21, 2025.
The album begins with AI & I, a song about having a digital crush, set against a backdrop of saturated guitar, heady rhythms and more suggestive lyrics. Then it’s on to Thunder & Lightning, a song with a melancholy pop/rock rhythm. The melancholy continues with Rusty Rose and its synthesizer-inspired intro, and despite a good rhythm, the song becomes very redundant. The same sentence applies here with Shake Shake, which bored me for barely 30 seconds as I got a huge sense of déjà vu.
A piano introduction, a slow tempo with a minimalist vocal signature and, as a bonus, a depressive guitar, there’s no doubt that this is a slow rock song called Burning Bridges, where, in a similar vein, we have Life. But the solitude is short-lived with Drive My Car and Liverpool, which return to the hard rock codes we love so much. The most surprising thing about Boom Boom is that the tempo is defined by heartbeats via an ultrasound machine. Indeed, in my humble opinion, the track is a declaration of love from a parent to their newborn child, a beautiful metaphor.
Devil In The Moonlight, on the other hand, finally shows incredible potential, with a very supportive bass that’s a pleasure to hear. Not to mention that the chorus also had me bobbing my head to the beat, taking me on a trip to a bar deep in Tennessee – the ultimate for a Swiss band. Dig A Little Deeper tries to draw inspiration from its predecessor, with a melody that relies more on the bass, and that’s a good point, but the waves of country that emerge don’t really fit, but I recognize the effort that’s being made. And last but not least, the Country/Folk-inspired These Are The Days, with its harmonica tune, is good but unfortunately too out of time with the rest of the album.
Gotthard offers an album of multiple rhythmic variations, with a wide spectrum of styles and emotions swept across. However, I find the band a little scattered in the overall construction of this opus and over its duration, as it gets long from the start. It’s still a good album, accessible to all the neophytes on the planet, as well as to die-hard fans.
