[ENGLISH BELOW] Le groupe allemand de Metal Industriel Eibrecher est de retour avec un dixième album studio intitulé Kaltfront° !, disponible depuis le 14 mars 2025 par le label Hansa – Sony Music Entertainment.
Pour ce nouvel opus, le groupe se sépare de l’un de ses membres fondateurs Noël Pix, en charge de la programmation, de la guitare et des chœurs. Il s’agit donc de Maximillian « Maximator » Schauer qui occupera le poste au synthétiseur et à la programmation mais uniquement de session.
Minus 90 Grad ouvre le bal avec une introduction qui fait littéralement froid dans le dos et sert de transition directe pour Everything Is Wunderbar. D’ailleurs celui-ci malgré le fait que le titre de la chanson soit mi anglais / mi allemand, elle ne déroge pas à la règle du groupe. Et une copie de Rammstein plus tard avec leur touche emblématique pour Kaltfront, elle reste classique dans sa composition.
Auf Die Zunge est un feat avec le groupe allemand Schattenmenn sans grand intêret car il n’y a aucune différence avec un son sans la collaboration mais il s’agit quand même d’un bon titre avec une bonne construction. Un petit détour du côté du Far West mais de courte durée avec Waffen Waffen Waffen dont l’introdution sera la seule originalité. Ce qui est tout le contraire de Dein Herz qui dès le début envoie du très lourd et va maintenir cette cadence jusqu’au refrain où l’ensemble va retomber comme un soufflé malgré la voix grave d’Alexander Wesselski. Das Nue Normal va accentuer l’atmosphère pesante et lourde avec en prime un joli signal de sirène d’alarme lors des ponts, et j’ai la sensation de retrouver les sonorités du groupe que j’aime tant. Et ce petit bonheur se retrouve aussi avec Einzelgänger ou encore Festung Der Eisamkeit.
Zeitgeist en feat avec Joachim Witt (chanteur solo, ancien membre du groupe Duesenberg), propose un mélange intéressant surtout au niveau du mélange des voix mais rien d’extraordinaire sauf les chœurs qui sont sublimes. Encore un feat oubliable avec Die Hoffnung Strirbt Zuletzt qui nous présente Sotiria (ancienne chanteuse du groupe Eisblume), qui avait collaboré avec Jena Lee pour l’adaptation d’une de leur chanson en 2010 (oui je sais c’est loin tout ça !). Au-delà de cette anecdote la chanson est oubliable tout comme sa voix. Toi Toi Toi part totalement en cacahuète ou alors le choix a été fait de ne plus se prendre au sérieux lors de la composition.
Tränen Lügen Nicht se positionne comme la ballade sur fond de chorale d’église ou de berceuse pour les enfants… Plus rien ne va dans cet opus. La raison est donc partie en vacance avec Satt, qui a quand même une belle mélodie mais c’est tellement en dehors du temps et en décalage complet avec le reste, puisqu’Auf Kalt est une conclusion plutôt étrange sur fond de radio militaire.
Eisbrecher nous a habitués à BEAUCOUP mieux que cet album qui est très largement oubliable et ce malgré les bonnes idées qui peuvent être présentes. Le développement, la construction, le choix des artistes lors des featuring mais aussi la durée font que cet album n’est pas à la hauteur de mes attentes, alors que c’est un groupe que j’aime énormément. J’attends de voir ce que cela donne en live peut-être qu’il sera meilleur ou plus facilement écoutable.

German industrial metal band Eibrecher is back with its tenth studio album, Kaltfront°! available from Hansa – Sony Music Entertainment on March 14, 2025.
For this new opus, the band is parting company with one of its founding members, Noël Pix, in charge of programming, guitar and backing vocals. Maximillian “Maximator” Schauer will take over the synthesizer and programming duties, but only on a session basis.
Minus 90 Grad opens the ball with a spine-chilling introduction that serves as a direct transition to Everything Is Wunderbar. And despite the song’s half-English/half-German title, it’s no exception to the band’s rule. And a copy of Rammstein later, with a touch of their emblematic Kaltfront, it remains classic in its composition.
Auf Die Zunge is a feat with the German band Schattenmenn without much interest, as there’s no difference with a sound without the collaboration, but it’s still a good track with a good construction. A short detour into the Wild West with Waffen Waffen Waffen, whose introduction is the only original feature. This is in stark contrast to Dein Herz, which kicks things off with a bang and keeps up the pace right up to the chorus, where it falls like a soufflé despite Alexander Wesselski’s deep voice. Das Nue Normal will accentuate the heavy, ponderous atmosphere, with the added bonus of a nice siren signal during the bridges, and I have the sensation of rediscovering the band’s sounds that I love so much. And I’m equally happy with Einzelgänger and Festung Der Eisamkeit.
Zeitgeist, a feat with Joachim Witt (solo singer, former member of the band Duesenberg), offers an interesting mix of voices, but nothing extraordinary, except for the sublime backing vocals. Another forgettable feat is Die Hoffnung Strirbt Zuletzt, which introduces us to Sotiria (former singer of the band Eisblume), who collaborated with Jena Lee on the adaptation of one of their songs in 2010 (yes, I know it’s a long way off!). Beyond this anecdote, the song is as forgettable as her voice. Toi Toi Toi goes totally off the rails, or maybe the choice was made not to take itself so seriously when composing it.
Tränen Lügen Nicht is positioned as a ballad set to a church choir background, or a lullaby for children… Nothing is right with this opus. Reason has gone on vacation with Satt, which still has a nice melody, but it’s so out of time and completely out of step with the rest, since Auf Kalt is a rather strange conclusion with a military radio background.
Eisbrecher has accustomed us to MUCH better than this album, which is largely forgettable, despite the good ideas that may be present. The development, the construction, the choice of artists for the featuring, but also the length, mean that this album doesn’t live up to my expectations, even though this is a band I like a lot. I’m waiting to see what it sounds like live, perhaps it will be better or more listenable.
