Frozen Crown nous présente son cinquième album intitulé War Hearts disponible à partir du 18 octobre 2024 par le label Napalm Records.
Le ton est donné directement dès les premières secondes de War Hearts, ce que l’on nous promets pour le reste de ce nouvel album. Ca sera vif, harmonieux et surtout ça va rester dans la tête. Tout comme Steel And Gold qui va alterner entre riffs lourds, couplets mélodique et refrains simple et efficace qui pourront être scandé par tout un public enflammé. La recette reste inchangé pour To Live To Die et Night Of The Wolf qui vont confirmé que nous écoutons bien un groupe de Power Metal avec en prime un solo incroyable pour chacun de ses morceaux.
On Silver Wings m’a fait penser à toutes ces covers Metal que l’on peut trouver sur youtube avec son introduction à la guitare aux sons dans les aigus et une batterie frénétique. Edge Of Reality va surement remonter le niveau avec plus de brutalité dans le rythme, exactement Bloodlines qui va s’imposer et se démarquer un peu plus des précédentes. I Am The Wind va accentuer cet effet avec un joli duo entre la chanteuse et le guitariste.
King Of The Sky sert d’introduction plutôt épique instrumentale que je verrai bien dans un jeu à la Ziggurat. Puis enfin Ice Dragon fait son entrée pour une conclusion sur les chapeaux de roues. Entre passage purement Power Metal et ceux guitare acoustique / voix qui viennent accentué l’ambiance donné par l’introduction, sans compter l’interlude avec les chœurs qui rajoute une touche en plus.
Frozen Crown nous propose un album plutôt long et assez répétitif dans la construction instrumentale des morceaux malgré des textes parfois profonds et intéressants. Cela reste un très bon album, qui est agréable à l’écoute.

Frozen Crown presents its fifth album, War Hearts, available from October 18, 2024 via Napalm Records.
The tone is set from the very first seconds of War Hearts, which is what we’re promised for the rest of this new album. It’s going to be lively, harmonious and, above all, it’s going to get stuck in your head. Just like Steel And Gold, which alternates between heavy riffs, melodic verses and simple, effective choruses that can be chanted by an entire audience. The recipe remains unchanged for To Live To Die and Night Of The Wolf, which confirm that we are indeed listening to a Power Metal band, with the added bonus of an incredible solo on each track.
On Silver Wings reminded me of all those Metal covers you can find on YouTube, with its high-pitched guitar intro and frenetic drumming. Edge Of Reality will surely raise the bar with more brutal rhythm, as will Bloodlines, which will stand out a little more from its predecessors. I Am The Wind will accentuate this effect with a lovely duet between the singer and guitarist.
King Of The Sky serves as a rather epic instrumental introduction, which I could see in a Ziggurat-style set. Then finally, Ice Dragon makes its entrance for a rousing conclusion. A mix of pure power metal and acoustic guitar/voice passages accentuate the mood set by the introduction, not to mention the interlude with choirs that adds an extra touch.
Frozen Crown‘s album is rather long and repetitive in its instrumental construction, despite the sometimes profound and interesting lyrics. It’s still a very good album, which is pleasant to listen to.
