[English version below] Les américains de Catch your Breath sont enfin passés en France ! Si vous n’y étiez pas cela se passait au Trabendo le 15 avril dernier. Fort de leur succès notamment grâce à Tiktok ils organisent en ce moment même une tournée en Europe sur laquelle ils ont invité deux autres groupes de metalcore : Of Virtue et Until I Wake. Nous avons pu nous rendre à ce show grâce à Live Nation , merci pour l’invitation. On reviens donc sur ce premier passage en Europe et tout particulièrement à Paris ! C’est Of Virtue, groupe originaire du Michigan aux Etats Unis, qui démarre la soirée dès 20h dans un Trabendo bien rempli ! Avec des titres très catchys et sympas la formation n’a pas de mal à chauffer la salle. Nous sommes particulièrement impressionnés par la voix claire du guitariste. Le groupe propose du Metal moderne avec des influences électroniques en background et dans la fosse ça bouge bien dès le deuxième titre : Hypocrite, sur lequel le public ouvre le pit.
Le groupe prends la parole pour se présenter et remercier Catch your breath de les avoir invités sur la tournée et continu son set sur Cold Blooded pendant que le public allume les flash des téléphones. Il poursuit sur un second titre plus calme et toujours chargé en émotion dénommé Sober. Le public fait des coeurs au groupe avec les mains tandis que le guitariste joue son solo avec virtuosité.
Après un moment calme Of Virtue poursuit avec des titres plus explosifs tels que Sinner et Cannibals. À la fin de ceux-ci le groupe se permet de demander qui connaissait le groupe ce soir, si peu de monde lève la main à notre grande surprise au vu de l’ambiance au Trabendo, le groupe ne se décourage pas et offre un très beau final à ce set haut en émotion. Le chanteur descendra notamment dans la fosse pour chanter avec un public qui saute tout autour de lui, un très beau moment.
C’est en toute simplicité et en invitant les fans présents dans la salle à venir les voir sur leur stand de merch que les américains font leurs adieux au public.
Until I wake prend place sur les planches du Trabendo aux alentours de 20h45. Avec un premier titre très inspiré nu-metal la formation originaire de New York fait une belle entrée en matière : « Yo Paris what’s up ?! » De nombreux fans hurlent alors, prouvant que le public avait aussi fait le déplacement pour les américains. Ces derniers poursuivent avec deux titres plus calmes et émotifs que le premier qui bougeait bien. L’ambiance dans la fosse est plus posée et les fans hurlent les paroles avec le groupe.
La formation repart dans l’explosif avec une instru très trap et une basse très présente. Le groupe relance les hostilités dans la fosse avec le breakdown abyssal et imprévisible d’Octane. Le public se mettra à sauter pendant Sinking Under qui suit derrière mais c’est bel et bien pendant Renovate que le pit s’enflammera de nouveau. Les musiciens de la formation se mettrons debout de chaque côté de la scène sur les gros ampli !
Until I wake finira par l’un de ses titres les plus connus : « If you know the words sing with me » demande le vocaliste avant de lancer Self Medicated. Ce sera la meilleure manière de clôturer son set pour les new-yorkais qui ont tout donné !
Il est deja 21h45 quand le groupe phare de la soirée, Catch your Breath, arrive enfin sur la scène du Trabendo. Et dans le public on sentait l’impatience gagner les fans ! Originaire du Texas la formation metalcore proposera des titres majoritairement issus de son dernier album : Shame on me.
Et si le groupe est relativement récent, il donneront tout sur scène. La prestation vocale de son chanteur nous donnera la chair de poule. Ce dernier sera du genre à beaucoup partager et discuter de ses titres avant de les lancer, ce qui est toujours le bienvenue ! Le public ovationne la performance de la formation sur Deadly, une chanson qui parle du fait de vouloir changer et devenir une meilleure personne mais dont quelqu’un ou quelque chose en empêche la possibilité.
Après ce passage émouvant la formation enchaîne avec Criminal, son morceau le plus ancien : « We gonna turn back the time, just a little« . Et ce sera l’occasion pour la fosse de s’amuser puisque la formation repart sur un titre plus émouvant pour Good in Goodbye. En effet, le groupe dédie le titre à la grand mère du guitariste qui était comme une mère pour lui et surtout leur première fan. Elle ne les aura cependant pas vu jouer en live une seule fois… Un moment de tendresse et de nostalgie partagé avec public qui envoie des petits coeur au guitariste, qui se cache humblement derrière sa guitare.
Le set repart sur du plus lourd avec le titre suivant et qui porte très bien son nom : Savages. Puis, l’ambiance repart dans l’émotion quand Joshua explique la raison de l’écriture de Cycles. Il explique l’avoir créée par rapport à ses parents qui ne lui accordaient pas d’importance lorsqu’il était enfant et il la dédie aux personnes dans la salle pour qui c’était le cas également. Il fini le titre par un « I love you you are not alone«
Le climax de la soirée sera cependant sur le titre que tout le monde attendait : c’est une vague de crowdfunding qui déambule dans le Trabendo pour Dial Tone et c’est un public en furie qui hurle les paroles partout dans la salle. Le groupe enchaîne dans la même énergie folle avec Shame On Me, titre éponyme de son seul et unique album.
Catch your breath remercie le public à la fin de son hit pour sa venue, son soutien et promet de repasser dès que possible. La formation ne quitte la scène que très peu de temps pour compléter son set par Y.S.K.W et il s’agit là d’une super clôture pour un set à la fois énergique et chargé en émotions !
[ENGLISH VERSION] The American band Catch Your Breath are finally in France! If you weren’t there, it was at the Trabendo on April 15th. Building on their success, particularly thanks to TikTok, they are currently organizing a European tour, which they have invited two other metalcore bands: Of Virtue and Until I Wake. We were able to attend this show thanks to Live Nation thank you for the invitation. So, let’s take a look back at this first European appearance, especially in Paris!

Of Virtue, a band from Michigan, USA, kicks off the evening at 8 p.m. in a packed Trabendo! With catchy and fun songs, the band easily warms up the room. We are particularly impressed by the guitarist’s clear vocals. The band plays modern metal with electronic influences in the background, and the crowd really gets going from the second song, Hypocrite, on which the audience opens the pit. The band took the floor to introduce themselves and thank Catch Your Breath for inviting them on tour and continued their set with Cold Blooded while the audience turned on their cell phone flashes. They continued with a second, calmer and still emotionally charged track called Sober. The audience made hearts with the band while the guitarist played his solo with virtuosity.
After a quiet moment, Of Virtue continued with more explosive tracks such as Sinner and Cannibals. At the end of these, the band allowed themselves to ask who knew the band that evening. Although few people raised their hands, much to our surprise given the atmosphere at the Trabendo, the band didn’t give up and offered a beautiful finale to this emotional set. The singer went down into the pit to sing with an audience jumping all around him, a beautiful moment.
It was with simplicity and by inviting the fans present in the room to come see them at their merch stand that the Americans bid farewell to the audience.
Until I Wake takes to the stage at the Trabendo around 8:45 p.m. With a very nu-metal-inspired first track, the New York band makes a great start: « Yo Paris, what’s up?! » Many fans then scream, proving that the crowd had also made the trip for the Americans. They continue with two songs that are calmer and more emotional than the first, which was quite lively. The atmosphere in the pit is more relaxed, and the fans shout the lyrics along with the band.
The band gets back into the action with a very trap-like instrumental and a very present bass. The band reignites hostilities in the pit with Octane‘s abysmal and unpredictable breakdown. The crowd starts jumping during Sinking Under, which follows, but it’s during Renovate that the pit really gets going again. The band’s musicians stand on either side of the stage at the big amps! Until I Wake will end with one of their most famous songs: « If you know the words sing with me, » asks the vocalist before launching into « Self Medicated. » It will be the perfect way to close their set for the New Yorkers who gave it their all!
It’s already 9:45 p.m. when the evening’s flagship band, Catch Your Breath, finally arrives on stage at the Trabendo. And in the audience, we could feel the fans’ impatience growing! Hailing from Texas, the metalcore band will perform tracks mostly from their latest album: Shame on Me.
And even though the band is relatively new, they will give it their all on stage. The singer’s vocal delivery will give us goosebumps. He will be the type to share and discuss his songs a lot before launching them, which is always welcome! The audience applauds the band’s performance of Deadly, a song about wanting to change and become a better person, but someone or something is preventing that possibility. After this moving passage, the band continues with Criminal, their oldest song: « We’re gonna turn back the time, just a little. » And this will be an opportunity for the crowd to have fun, as the band returns with a more emotional track, « Good in Goodbye. » Indeed, the band dedicates the song to the guitarist’s grandmother, who was like a mother to him and, more importantly, their number one fan. However, she hadn’t seen them play live once… A moment of tenderness and nostalgia shared with the audience, who sent little hearts to the guitarist, who humbly hides behind his guitar.
The set picks up with the next track, which is aptly named: Savages. Then, the atmosphere becomes emotional again when Joshua explains the reason for writing Cycles. He explains that he created it in response to his parents, who didn’t care about him when he was a child, and he dedicates it to the people in the audience for whom that was the case. He ends the song with « I love you, you are not alone.«
The climax of the evening, however, comes with the song everyone was waiting for: a wave of crowdfunding swept through the Trabendo for « Dial Tone, » and a furious crowd screamed the lyrics throughout the room. The band continued with the same wild energy with Shame On Me, the eponymous track from their one and only album.
At the end of their hit, Catch Your Breath thanked the audience for their attendance and support, and promised to return as soon as possible. The band left the stage for a short while, finishing their set with « Y.S.K.W. » It was a great ending to a set that was both energetic and emotional!
