[ENGLISH BELOW] L’un des plus grands groupes de Folk Metal, Eluveitie est de retour avec un nouvel album intitulé Ànv, disponible à partir du 25 avril 2025 par le label Nuclear Blast.
Embarquons dans un voyage épique, tout d’abord avec Emerge qui sert d’introduction au titre suivant et fait plein de promesse sur ce qui arrive. Et en un instant Taranoìas prend le relai et offre une belle mise en bouche portée par la voix de Fabienne Erni qui contre balance avec la rapidité d’exécution de la batterie. Pour accentuer la partie Folk The Prodigal Ones, va mettre les bouchées doubles en y ajoutant des solos de guitares endiablés.
L’envoutement est primordial et inévitable avec Ànv. Cette interlude unique voix / chœur va vous faire voyager et vous apporter une sérénité inavouée. Une surprenante pause qui fait du bien tant par sa simplicité et pureté sans égales. Et avec toute cette douceur, Premonition vient casser par sa brutalité musicale mais sans oublier l’esprit folk, et c’est aussi là qu’Awen fait son entrée en scène avec une rythmique dans les couplets très classique du Metal.
Autre interlude présente avec Anamcara mais cette fois-ci elle est sous la forme guitare acoustique et voix parlée, pour enchainer direct avec The Harvest qui laisse de côté la subtilité pour aller direct dans le vif du sujet mais toujours avec une dextérité hors norme. Une avalanche de riffs de plus en plus lourds. Un petit esprit de taverne s’installe doucement avec Memories Of Innocence, un autre type d’interlude qui montre que le groupe est aussi doué avec des instruments classiques mais aussi insolites, et que la qualité reste toujours là.
All Is One me donne une énorme impression de déjà vu au niveau de la rythmique du refrain, elle pourrait être l’enfant entre The Call Of The Mountain et Memento, et ça fait du bien d’entendre qu’ils n’ont pas oubliés les classique tout en y ajoutant leur patte actuel. Un vrai plaisir de découvrir cette chanson avec toutes les bonnes vibes qu’elle dégage. Et cette sensation ne va pas s’arrêter là avec Aeon Of The Crescent Moon, encore un pur plaisir. Mais je pensais que la barre nous pouvait pas être plus haute et c’est là que The Prophecy fait son eentrée our une conclusion en beauté de 5 minutes de bonheur absolues.
Eluveitie revient en force avec un album riche en mélodie, inspirations diverses et toujours avec beaucoup de force de charactère et une précision sans faille. Un album qui ravira les fans de la première heure tout comme les petits nouveaux. C’est un véritable plaisir de retrouver le groupe comme je l’ai connu mais aussi de voir leur évolution.

One of Folk Metal’s greatest bands, Eluveitie is back with a new album entitled Ànv, available from Nuclear Blast on April 25, 2025.
Let’s embark on an epic journey, starting with Emerge, which serves as an introduction to the next track, and is full of promises of what’s to come. Taranoìas takes over in an instant, offering a fine appetizer, with Fabienne Erni’s voice counterbalancing the speed of the drums. The Prodigal Ones pull out all the stops to accentuate the Folk side, adding some wild guitar solos.
Bewitchment is paramount and inevitable with Ànv. This unique vocal/choral interlude will take you on a journey and bring you an unspoken serenity. It’s a surprising pause that’s so good for you, for its unrivalled simplicity and purity. And with all this sweetness, Premonition breaks with its musical brutality but without forgetting the folk spirit, and it’s also here that Awen makes his entrance with a very classic Metal rhythm in the verses.
There’s another interlude with Anamcara, but this time it’s in the form of acoustic guitar and spoken voice, before moving straight on to The Harvest, which leaves subtlety behind to get straight to the heart of the matter, but always with outstanding dexterity. An avalanche of increasingly heavy riffs. A little tavern spirit gently settles in with Memories Of Innocence, another kind of interlude that shows that the band is just as talented with classical instruments as with unusual ones, and that the quality is still there.
All Is One gives me a huge sense of déjà vu in the rhythmic chorus, it’s like the child between The Call Of The Mountain and Memento, and it’s good to hear that they haven’t forgotten the classics while adding their own contemporary flair. It’s a real pleasure to discover this song, with all the good vibes it gives off. And the feeling doesn’t stop there with Aeon Of The Crescent Moon, another pure pleasure. But I didn’t think the bar could get any higher, and that’s when The Prophecy comes in for a 5-minute finale of absolute bliss.
Eluveitie are back in force with an album rich in melody, diverse inspiration and always with plenty of character and flawless precision. An album that will delight fans and newcomers alike. It’s a real pleasure to rediscover the band as I knew it, but also to see their evolution.
