[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] La Reine de la Scène Bimbocore est de retour! SCENE QUEEN s’apprête à sortir son tout nouvel EP, METALICIOUS , ce vendredi 11 septembre via Hopeless Records et elle a encore des choses à dire, des trucs à faire et de la rage à revendre!
C’est avec Pink Flip Phone que démarre ce nouvel EP, un morceau puissant qui rappelle littéralement ce petit objet avec notamment les « Ring,Ring », il y’a également pas mal d’effets et une espèce de chaos ambiant qui illustre parfaitement l’univers de Hannah Collins (Scene Queen) , le morceau dure moins d’une minute et on se fait déjà un avis sur ce qui nous attend pour la suite! Et c’est Manicure qui déboule, un titre plus catchy que le précédent, plus de riffs qui donnent envie d’ouvrir le pit et des couplets inspirés Rap tout en gardant un côté très Pop dans son ensemble avant une partie bien plus Heavy où on retrouve des parties plus gutturales où on distingue clairement les nombreux « You fucked up my nails », en même temps on s’attendait à quoi quand on parle de Manicure? Mais ce genre de paroles qui semblent Fun cachent en réalité des thèmes plus lourds comme les violences faites aux femmes (« Hold up, this piece of shit pushed her head into a wall.So I need these bitches thick, gimme the cat claws. ‘Cause if I see one more bruise, there’s nothing else I can do.But dig my new gel tips into his baby blues »), Scene Queen semble d’humeur à ruiner ses manucures pour défendre les femmes battues et on ne peut que la féliciter pour ça et en profitera pour dire au mec qu’il a ruinée sa belle manucure.
Rap, voix claire , scream la palette vocale de la Reine est pleinement exploitée sur Shopaholic! Les touches de synthé apportent une nouvelle profondeur au morceau est en font un des titres indispensables sur ce nouvel EP. Là encore, elle s’attaque cette fois-ci à un homme infidèle qui promettait le mariage et monts et merveilles et qui finira par transformer sa partenaire en accro au shopping qui se servira allégrement sur le compte en banque du bougre infidèle. Drop Dead Gorgeous est le premier featuring et c’est avec son label-mate TX2 que Scene Queen s’associe, les voix des deux artistes fonctionnent particulièrement bien ensemble, l’invité profite d’un petit moment plus Rap mais ici on retrouve tout les éléments qui rythment Metalicious notamment un passage Heavy avec des riffs super incisifs, une première collaboration plutôt réussie donc!
Le single Tracksuit tape directement dans le tas, c’est Heavy et Metal dès le début mais tout en arrivant encore à mêler toutes ses influences tout au long du morceau, l’artiste arrive à se démarquer encore une fois, des couplets forts et un refrain accrocheur c’est tout simplement la recette parfaite et Tracksuit reste un très bon morceau autant pour faire la fête que pour s’éclater dans un pit en concert. Là encore pour elle, les hommes restent des hommes et dans les paroles elle s’apprête à faire couler du sang sur le velours rose de son survêtement. T!ts Out At Brunch est un morceau très fun et bien plus moderne avec encore une fois un chaos savamment orchestré avant le final sur le titre éponyme METALICIOUS en featuring avec le groupe de Deathcore Left To Suffer. Les deux univers éclatent pour n’en faire qu’un seul et c’est particulièrement réussi une nouvelle fois, et ici c’est un hymne pour les nanas qui aiment aller dans les pogos, headbanger et mosher bref une nouvelle fois on est conquis même si sur le papier ce n’était pas forcément la collaboration qui nous branchait le plus!
SCENE QUEEN continue son ascension avec un EP à son image, qui mixe toutes ses influences, sa rage féministe et des collaborations ultra efficaces! Une chose est sûre, on a hâte de découvrir la suite de ses aventures pailletées, heavy et rose !

[ENGLISH VERSION] The Queen of the Bimbocore Scene is back! SCENE QUEEN is set to release her brand-new EP, *METALICIOUS*, this Friday, September 11, via Hopeless Records, and she still has things to say, things to do, and rage to spare!
The new EP kicks off with “Pink Flip Phone,” a powerful track that literally evokes that little device—notably with the “Ring, Ring” sounds. There are also plenty of effects and a sort of ambient chaos that perfectly captures Hannah Collins’ (Scene Queen) world. The track lasts less than a minute, and you’re already getting a sense of what’s to come! Next up is “Manicure,” a track even catchier than the previous one, with more riffs that make you want to start a mosh pit and rap-inspired verses—all while maintaining a very pop-oriented vibe overall—before transitioning into a much heavier section featuring more guttural vocals where you can clearly make out the repeated “You fucked up my nails.” Then again, what else would you expect from a track called “Manicure”? But these seemingly playful lyrics actually hide heavier themes like violence against women (“Hold up, this piece of shit pushed her head into a wall. So I need these bitches thick, gimme the cat claws. ’Cause if I see one more bruise, there’s nothing else I can do. But dig my new gel tips into his baby blues”), Scene Queen seems determined to ruin her manicures to stand up for abused women, and we can only commend her for that—and take this opportunity to tell the guy he ruined her beautiful manicure.
Rap, clean vocals, screams—the Queen’s vocal range is fully showcased on “Shopaholic”! The synth touches add a new depth to the track, making it one of the must-hear tracks on this new EP. Once again, she takes on an unfaithful man who promised marriage and the world but ends up turning his partner into a shopaholic who happily helps herself to the unfaithful guy’s bank account. “Drop Dead Gorgeous” is the first collaboration, and Scene Queen teams up with her labelmate TX2; the two artists’ voices blend particularly well together. The guest artist gets a brief rap-heavy moment, but the track still features all the elements that define “Metalicious”—notably a heavy section with razor-sharp riffs. A rather successful first collaboration, then!
The single “Tracksuit” hits you right in the face—it’s heavy and metal from the get-go, yet still manages to blend all her influences throughout the track. The artist stands out once again with powerful verses and a catchy chorus—it’s simply the perfect recipe, and “Tracksuit” remains a great track for both partying and going wild in a mosh pit at a concert. Once again, as far as she’s concerned, men are still just men, and in the lyrics, she’s ready to spill blood on the pink velvet of her tracksuit. “T!ts Out At Brunch” is a very fun and much more modern track, featuring yet another expertly orchestrated chaos before the finale on the title track “METALICIOUS,” featuring the deathcore band Left To Suffer. The two worlds collide to become one, and it’s particularly well-executed once again—this time as an anthem for girls who love to pogo, headbang, and mosh. In short, we’re won over yet again, even if, on paper, this wasn’t necessarily the collaboration that excited us the most!
SCENE QUEEN continues her rise with an EP that’s true to her style, blending all her influences, her feminist rage, and ultra-effective collaborations! One thing’s for sure: we can’t wait to see what’s next in her glittery, heavy, and pink adventures!
