Lundi 25 juin, j’ai eu le plaisir de vivre une soirée assez incroyable au Transbordeur de Lyon. Plus qu’un concert, c’était un « mini festival » qui proposait initialement 5 artistes !
Make them suffer, ERRA, Bury Tomorrow et While she sleeps ont tout retournés Malheureusement, Thrown n’a pas pu assurer son set. Les membres étant tombés malades, nous leur souhaitons le meilleur rétablissement ! La salle a tenu à faire résonner quelques-unes de leurs chansons en hommage. Ce groupe était très attendu par beaucoup d’entre nous !
Les horaires ont été modifiés à cette occasion, le concert a débuté à 18h45 avec le groupe Make Them Suffer. La salle était très chaude dès le début. Là où il y a généralement un échauffement, les Lyonnais ont rapidement montré que ce n’était pas une plaisanterie. Il faut dire que chacun des groupes présents ce soir-là est un poids lourd de la scène et possède une fanbase bien établie. Personne n’a été laissé pour compte.
Make them suffer
La soirée débute avec Make Them Suffer, seul groupe de la soirée avec une musicienne. Ce groupe originaire d’Australie a tout de même plus de 15 ans d’expérience. Le chant féminin apporte une touche de légèreté qui fonctionne à merveille. Jaya, chanteuse et claviériste, a une présence scénique très captivante.
Le concert débute avec « Ghost of Me » , morceau emblématique du groupe sorti il y a environ un an. Le set ne dure qu’une trentaine de minutes, c’est bien trop court pour ce qu’ils méritent. J’admets avoir découvert le groupe récemment et je ne suis pas habituée aux groupes avec une chanteuse. Cependant, Make Them Suffer a réussi à me faire changer d’avis ! Le concert était incroyable et j’aimerais les revoir en tête d’affiche lors de prochaines dates, ils le méritent, la fanbase est présente en France !

C’est un groupe que j’affectionne particulièrement. Le concert débute bien entendu avec « Cure » , chanson phare de l’album du même nom sorti en avril dernier. J’avais vraiment hâte de voir ce groupe en live, je les ai découverts cette année un peu avant la sortie de leur album. C’est le groupe qui se démarquait ce soir-là par son style et ses sonorités très aériennes, mais c’est également le groupe qui m’a fait pleurer d’émotion. Ça ne m’était pas arrivé depuis… Ouf, avant 2020 je crois !
Le set complet a été un voyage incroyable, la voix du guitariste m’a surprise tant elle était identique à ce que l’on peut entendre sur les albums studio, et c’est très rare ! C’était un pur bonheur. Un peu comme se plonger dans un bain chaud après une bonne randonnée de 6h (c’était un peu le cas, Lyon est sacrément vallonnée par rapport à Bordeaux !)
L’interprétation de “Blue Reverie” me faisait peur en live, mais très certainement parce que je savais que j’allais totalement laisser mes émotions en roue libre et craquer. C’est exactement ce qu’il s’est passé. Cette chanson nous a enveloppés tel un cocon de bonheur et nous a pris aux tripes. Cela fait clairement partie des concerts les plus agréables de ma vie.

Déjà vu en septembre dernier à Londres, également avec While She Sleeps. J’ai profité du concert de manière bien différente, et je dirais même que c’était encore plus agréable que la première fois ! Le nouvel album sorti le 31 mars dernier a été largement représenté dans ce set, mais également des morceaux dont on ne se lasse jamais, tels que “Black Flame” ou “Choke” . Mais mieux encore, c’est le banger “Villain Arc” sorti il y a un mois que nous avons eu le plaisir de voir en live ! Quelle soirée ! C’était la folie. Les agents de sécurité n’ont eu de cesse d’évacuer les slameurs qui arrivaient vague après vague, si bien que j’ai moi-même été obligée de m’extirper tant bien que mal de la salle pleine à craquer pour aller chercher de l’air. J’ai rarement vu un tel chaos en si peu de temps ! Le public était déchaîné, c’était incroyable !

Tout le monde le sait maintenant, WSS, ce sont des showmen. Chaque concert est unique, incroyable et surtout rempli de bonnes vibes. Nos amis anglais savent nous faire vivre un moment exceptionnel à chaque concert ! Le show commence avec « Rainbows » , extrait du dernier album sorti en début d’année. C’est une belle façon de débuter le concert. Les lumières scintillent aux couleurs de l’arc-en-ciel, le public est déjà chaud dès les premières notes, et la fosse devient un véritable champ de bataille en un éclair ! On s’attend, quoi qu’il arrive, à ce que ce set ne soit pas reposant. Du début jusqu’à la dernière seconde. Et ça a effectivement été le cas ! N’ayant malheureusement pas pu prendre de photos, j’ai profité des joies du mosh pit et du headbanging autant que possible ! (Coucou les courbatures)
Les chansons traditionnelles défilent, « Sleep Society » et « Guilty Party » mettent tout le monde sur la même longueur d’onde, celle du OUT OF CONTROL. « SELF HELL » est présente, mais la chaleur de notre propre enfer et même de celui des autres se fait sentir, il fait très chaud dans la salle, c’est la folie, le public est en ébullition. À chaque début de chanson, on entend des « OH » et des « AH ». Nous les connaissons quasiment tous par cœur ces chansons, le plaisir est intense et partagé !
J’apprécie particulièrement le moment où « Four Walls » est jouée car elle fait partie des morceaux emblématiques du groupe, un vestige de ce qui est à mes yeux leur meilleur album. C’est un moment fort à chaque concert, cette mélodie qui envahit la salle accompagnée de toutes ces voix chantant en chœur. Que c’est beau.
Et en parlant de beauté et de moments forts, impossible de ne pas mentionner « To the Flowers« . Cette chanson provient également du dernier album. Elle a marqué les esprits à sa sortie avec un clip vidéo émouvant et des paroles fortes. Sur scène, Loz porte un bouquet qu’il jette ensuite à la foule. Si ce morceau n’était pas aussi énergique, il nous aurait laissé le temps de pleurer toutes les larmes de nos corps.
Malgré le fait que le dernier album ne m’ait pas autant plu que les précédents, les chansons jouées en live fonctionnent à merveille. Comme d’habitude, c’était un concert incroyable.

Ce concert était une date à ne pas manquer, tout comme très certainement celle du jour suivant à la Laiterie de Strasbourg. La qualité du son était exceptionnelle, les lumières époustouflantes.
La programmation était de qualité, le son très bien réglé. Le public fantastique. Je remercie énormément Sounds Like Hell Productions pour l’accréditation presse et pour cette soirée plus que réussie. Mentions spéciales également au personnel de la Croix-Rouge et aux agents de sécurité présents ce soir-là, ça n’a pas dû être de tout repos, mais vous avez assuré !

On Monday, June 25th, I had the pleasure of experiencing an incredible evening at the Transbordeur in Lyon. More than just a concert, it was a « mini festival » featuring initially 5 artists!
Make Them Suffer, ERRA, Bury Tomorrow, and While She Sleeps absolutely rocked the house. Unfortunately, Thrown was unable to perform their set. With the band members falling ill, we wish them a speedy recovery! The venue made sure to play some of their songs as a tribute. This group was highly anticipated by many of us!
The schedule was modified for this occasion, and the concert began at 6:45 pm with the band Make Them Suffer. The venue was already buzzing with energy from the start. Where there is usually a warm-up, the people of Lyon quickly showed that they meant business. It must be said that each of the bands present that evening is a heavyweight in the scene and has a well-established fanbase. No one was left disappointed.

The evening kicks off with Make Them Suffer, the only band of the night with a female musician. This Australian band has over 15 years of experience. The female vocals add a touch of lightness that works wonderfully. Jaya, the singer and keyboardist, has a very captivating stage presence.
The concert starts with « Ghost of Me » , a standout track released by the band about a year ago. The set lasts only about thirty minutes, which is far too short for what they deserve. I admit that I recently discovered the band and I am not used to bands with a female singer. However, Make Them Suffer managed to change my mind! The concert was amazing, and I would love to see them headlining in future dates. They deserve it, their fanbase is strong in France!

ERRA
ERRA is a band that I particularly cherish. The concert naturally begins with « Cure » , the flagship song from the album of the same name released last April. I was really looking forward to seeing this band live; I discovered them this year just before the release of their album. They were the band that stood out that evening with their very airy style and sound, but they were also the band that moved me to tears. It hadn’t happened to me since… Wow, before 2020, I think!
The entire set was an incredible journey; the guitarist’s vocals surprised me as they were so similar to what you hear on the studio albums, which is very rare! It was pure bliss. It felt like soaking in a hot bath after a good 6-hour hike (which was kind of the case, Lyon is quite hilly compared to Bordeaux!).
I was afraid of the live performance of « Blue Reverie » , but probably because I knew I was going to completely let my emotions run wild and break down. And that’s exactly what happened. This song enveloped us like a cocoon of happiness and struck a chord with us. This concert clearly ranks among the most enjoyable ones of my life.

Having already seen them in London last September, also with While She Sleeps, I enjoyed the concert in a very different way this time, and I would even say it was even more enjoyable than the first time! The new album released on March 31st was heavily featured in this set, as well as songs that we never tire of, such as « Black Flame » or « Choke » . But better yet, it was the banger « Villain Arc » , released a month ago, that we had the pleasure of seeing live! What a night! It was madness. The security guards were constantly evacuating the crowd surfers who kept coming wave after wave, so much so that I myself had to struggle to make my way out of the packed venue to catch some fresh air. I have rarely seen such chaos in such a short time! The crowd was wild, it was incredible!

Everyone knows it now, WSS are showmen. Every concert is unique, incredible, and above all, filled with good vibes. Our English friends know how to give us an exceptional moment at every show! The show kicks off with « Rainbows » , a track from their latest album released earlier this year. It’s a beautiful way to start the concert. The lights shimmer in the colors of the rainbow, the audience is already hyped from the first notes, and the pit turns into a real battlefield in an instant! You expect, no matter what, that this set will not be relaxing. From the beginning to the last second. And that was indeed the case! Unfortunately, I couldn’t take any photos, so I enjoyed the joys of the mosh pit and headbanging as much as possible! (Hello, muscle soreness)
The traditional songs play out, « Sleep Society » and « Guilty Party » get everyone on the same wavelength, that of being OUT OF CONTROL. « SELF HELL » is there, but the heat of our own hell and even that of others is felt, it’s very hot in the venue, it’s madness, the crowd is in a frenzy. At the start of each song, you hear « OH » and « AH. » We almost know all these songs by heart, the pleasure is intense and shared!
I particularly enjoy the moment when « Four Walls » is played because it’s one of the band’s iconic tracks, a relic of what I consider to be their best album. It’s a powerful moment at every concert, that melody that fills the venue accompanied by all those voices singing in unison. It’s beautiful.
And speaking of beauty and powerful moments, it’s impossible not to mention « To the Flowers » . This song is also from the latest album. It made a lasting impression upon its release with its moving music video and strong lyrics. On stage, Loz carries a bouquet that he later throws into the crowd. If this track wasn’t so energetic, it would have given us the time to shed all the tears from our bodies.
Despite the fact that the latest album didn’t resonate with me as much as the previous ones, the songs played live worked wonderfully. As usual, it was an incredible concert.

This concert was a must-see event, just like the one undoubtedly following the next day at La Laiterie in Strasbourg. The sound quality was exceptional, the lighting was breathtaking.
The lineup was top-notch, the sound was well balanced. The audience was fantastic. I am very grateful to Sounds Like Hell Productions for the press accreditation and for this more than successful evening. Special mention also to the Red Cross staff and security agents present that night, it must not have been easy, but you did a great job!
