[ENGLISH BELOW] Les canadiens de Unleash The AArchers sont de retour avec un sixième album intitulé Phantoma, disponible à partir du 10 mai 2024 et produit par le label Napalm Records.
Et cet album commence avec Human Era qui propose une introduction avec des riffs et sonorités assez classiques du Heavy Metal, le tout porté par la voix de Brittney Slayes et apporte une douceur et une puissance assez sympa.
La suite avec Ph4nt0-ma qui cette fois ci envoie plus dès le début et ne fait pas trainer en longueur l’introduction, et c’est tant mieux car tout de suite on retrouve du punch et une signature vocale et rythmique entêtante. Même schéma pour Burried The Code qui ajoute en prime un solo incroyable.
The Collective me laisse perplexe avec son introduction 100% Electro et heureusement que la force du Metal prends le dessus car c’est clairement un morceau que j’aurai passé si c’était resté sur ces notes beaucoup trop ennuyeuse. Dans l’ensemble c’est une chanson puissante mais plus lente. Avec Green & Glass on enchaine encore une introduction bizarre à coup de zapping TV qui reproduit la même structure que la précédente.
Gods In Decay me parle tout de suite plus avec des riffs de guitare plus classiques et plus en adéquation de ce que j’attends d’un groupe de Heavy Metal. Un titre qui pourrait très facilement rejoindre une de mes playlist. Même chose pour Seeking Vengeance.
Avec Give It Up Or Give It All c’est une ballade de 7 minutes 36 qui nous attends, et c’est long mais malgré tout ce slow saura ravir les fans car il y a un joli enchainement, montée de puissance ainsi que des accélérations de rythme qui viennent casser la monotonie qui commençait à s’installer.
Ghosts In The Mist a le don de m’intriguer avec une introduction qui je pense s’inspire très largement des samples dans les films d’horreur et le tout jumelé encore une fois avec le Metal, ce qui donne un résultat plus que satisfaisant.
Et le final avec Blood Empress qui me laisse sur ma faim car j’ai l’impression que c’est le mélange de tout ce qui est présent sur cet album depuis le début, Le Heavy Metal, la guitare saturée, l’effet vocal ou électro. Malgré tout ça, et bien cela reste mou au niveau des refrains.
Unleash The Archers nous offre un album assez mixte dans les sonorités et qui pourrait en décourager plus d’un. Malgré tout cela, c’est un album qui reste très agréable à écouter.
[ENGLISH VERSION] Canada’s Unleash The Archers are back with a sixth album entitled Phantoma, available from May 10, 2024 and produced by Napalm Records.
The album kicks off with Human Era, an introduction featuring classic heavy metal riffs and tones, all carried by Brittney Slayes’ vocals, which add a gentle yet powerful touch.
Next up is Ph4nt0-ma, which this time delivers more from the outset and doesn’t drag out the introduction, which is just as well, because right away you’ll find punch and a heady vocal and rhythmic signature. Burried The Code follows the same pattern, adding an incredible solo.
The Collective perplexes me with its 100% electro intro, and fortunately the strength of the Metal takes over, because it’s clearly a song I’d have passed by if it had stayed on those far too dull notes. Overall, it’s a powerful but slower song. Green & Glass follows with another bizarre TV-zapping intro that reproduces the same structure as the previous one.
Gods In Decay immediately speaks to me more, with its more classic guitar riffs, more in keeping with what I’ve come to expect from a heavy metal band. A track that could very easily join one of my playlists. The same goes for Seeking Vengeance.
With Give It Up Or Give It All, we’re treated to a 7:36 minute ballad, and that’s a long time, but in spite of everything, this slow song will delight fans, as there’s a nice sequence, an increase in power and accelerated rhythms to break the monotony that was beginning to set in.
Ghosts In The Mist has the gift of intriguing me, with an introduction that I think is largely inspired by samples in horror films, and once again combined with Metal, the result is more than satisfying.
And the finale with Blood Empress leaves me on the edge of my seat, as it seems to be a mixture of everything that’s been present on this album from the start: heavy metal, saturated guitar, vocal and electro effects. But despite all that, the choruses remain soft.
Unleash The Archers is a rather mixed album in terms of sound, which might put some people off. Despite all that, it’s an album that’s still a pleasure to listen to.
