[English version below] C’est à la Maroquinerie, pour une date à guichet fermé que nous avions, en ce dimanche 27 avril, la chance d’être conviés. En effet les suédois de thrown étaient de retour accompagnés de plusieurs guests et non pas des moindre puisque les japonais de Crystal Lake, les américains de Unity TX et les anglais de Graphic Nature étaient également à l’affiche ce soir. Merci à Birgit de Oktober Promotion pour l’invitation à cet événement mais aussi à mon binôme Estelle pour les photos !
Il est 19h20 quand Graphic Nature monte sur scène. Les anglais, originaires du Kent arrivent sur scène en survêt’ et capuche et proposent un son dissonant, rapide et entrainant. Le tout se veut super efficace et crée une superbe ambiance dans la salle.
Dans une setlist courte mais convaincante, le groupe de Nu-Metalcore crée la sensation et est largement applaudi par la foule dès son deuxième titre dénommé Locked In. Le chanteur prend alors la parole, tout sourire, à la fin : « Bonjour je m’appelle Graphic Nature, j’habite London« . Il en profite pour prendre la température et demande qui a déjà vu le groupe : personne ! Ce dernier rigole et motive la foule pour le titre suivant : « This song is called Sour« .
La fosse s’ouvre pour faire place à un pit encore timide mais bien présent dès ce titre et Graphic Nature donne tout pour que ce dernier prenne de l’ampleur. Durant Killing Floor le vocaliste de la formation viendra notamment chanter en plein milieu de la fosse motivant ainsi les troupes. Le public est bel et bien chauffé quand les anglais enchaînent avec White Noise et Bad Blood. Le groupe de Nu-Metalcore demande au public de se baisser pour se relever en rythme et fini le titre par un « You fuck!« . Les membres de Graphic Nature sont satisfaits que le public parisien ai suivi sa demande et le remercie chaleureusement.
« We have been Graphic Nature, this is our last song, I appreciate every single of you for being in this room, thanks you so much for being here tonight. This song is called Fractured, thank you so much for watching« . Les anglais quittent les planches de la Maroquinerie avec simplicité, invitant le public à venir les rencontrer à leur stand de merchandising.
20H05 sonne quand c’est au tour de UnityTX de monter sur scène. La formation américaine commence super fort avec sa vibe Rap. Le vocaliste du groupe de Rap/Metal/Hardcore réclame du mosh pit dès le premier titre !
Le groupe propose des titres aux influences assez différentes : World of Malice et Cross Me qui sont très groove avec une basse omniprésente, Playing favourites avec pas mal de Rap ou encore Bang Sh!t. Le groupe est un vrai plaisir sur scène, super souriant et grave investi et cela s’en ressens directement dans le public, les mains se lèvent en rythme, la fosse saute en rythme avec la formation, toutes ses demandes sont réalisées sans aucun problème ! Nous sommes plus que satisfaits par cette deuxième partie qui poursuit la soirée dans une énergie différente mais complémentaire de celle de Graphic Nature.
De plus UnityTX prendra le temps de partager avec le public, demandant également qui les connaissaient ce soir avec un peu plus de succès que leur prédécesseur. Ils inviterons le public à venir les voir à la fin pour discuter et motiveront bien évidemment la foule de la Maroquinerie. Nous aurons notamment droit à un only girl pit sur lesquels les dames de cette soirée viendront s’amuser, une initiative assez rare et appréciée par la fosse. Le vocaliste saluera les demoiselles d’un « You’ve been beautiful« .
La soirée se terminera dans une énergie folle pour les deux derniers titres qui passeront beaucoup trop vite. Les américains lancent Rukus et Roc Sh!t, deux titres explosifs et sur lesquels le chanteur viendra s’amuser dans le public. La formation repartira de la scène avec un grand sourire, de notre côté il est désormais temps d’accueillir Crystal Lake sur scène et l’attente se fait ressentir de part et d’autres de la salle.
Le changement de set n’aura jamais été aussi fun : la personne en charge de mettre en place la batterie se tape un solo, celle qui vérifie les micro hurle dans le micro en français et fait donc hurler la salle. Celle-ci est désormais pleine à craquer, l’attente passe plus vite que jamais avec cette animation ! Les japonais de Crystal Lake débutent leur set pour 20h50 et comme d’habitude : c’est un bordel monstre dès les premières notes ! Pour nous impossible de prendre des notes, c’est l’effervescence dans la salle !
Jouant majoritairement des morceaux écrits avec leur nouveau chanteur John Robert Centorrino tels que l’incroyable Blüdgod avec laquelle il ouvre le show ou encore Denial et Rebirth, deux titres incroyablement efficace. Sur scène il se passe beaucoup de choses car la formation ne tient tout simplement pas en place ! Les deux guitaristes Yudai et TJ ainsi que Mitsuru à la basse sont de vraies piles électriques, ils motivent de part et d’autre de la scène un public en furie, on en oublierait presque qu’ils ne sont pas la partie principale de ce soir !
Les circle pit, wall of death et toute autres joyeusetés de ce type sont organisées dans et par le public lui même, les japonais quant à eux s’amusent tout autant sur scène, livrant chacun une performance à la hauteur de leur réputation : violente, festive et carrément efficace. Si on a malheureusement du mal à entendre John (peut être un problème de balance?) au début du set cela ne dure heureusement pas.
Les membres de Crystal Lake qui passe en France régulièrement depuis des années semblent toujours aussi contents d’être sur place. Le climax de la soirée se fera bien sûr sur leurs titres un peu plus anciens et connus : quel plaisir d’avoir SIX FEET UNDER une fois de plus en live. C’est une explosion de joie et de crowdsurfers qui déboulent sur scène ! Le groupe clôture son set dans cette bonne humeur bien à eux par l’incroyable Apollo, un titre old but gold, toujours aussi efficace et attendu par son public !
Nous aurions pu repartir là tellement le set des japonais était incroyable, violent et efficace. Mais que de joie de savoir que les suédois de thrown sont à suivre car nous étions bien évidemment présents pour eux aussi ! C’est à 21h50 que la formation prend place avec un jeu sur scène impeccable et précis. Si la performance de la part de la formation qui se veut beaucoup plus calme et posée n’a rien à voir avec celle de Crystal Lake, le public, lui est au rendez-vous !
Le groupe de Hardcore Breakdown/ Nu-Metalcore enchaîne les titres super rapidement et avec efficacité ! Le vocaliste de la formation ne prendra pas énormément la parole préférant laisser leur musique parler pour eux. Il présentera notamment quelques titres et remerciera le public : « You guys are amazing, thanks so much« .
Les suédois enchaînent les sons de leur seul album sorti en date en 2024 et leurs -plus nombreux- ep. Niveau musical il faudra s’attendre à une basse très grasse et lourde, pas mal d’éléments Electro et de gros riffs de Beatdown. Relativement récents sur la scène puisqu’ils ont commencé à sortir des morceaux en 2022 mais ils sont malgré tout super convaincants et pour cause malgré leur jeune carrière les suédois sont désormais habitués à passer en France que ce soit pour des festivals ou encore des concerts dont ils ont souvent été en première partie de groupe plus anciens.
Le public aura donc droit, ce soir, à leurs titres les plus connus tels que Backfire avec lequel le groupe de Hardcore ouvrira son set, Guilt et Grayout qui seront d’une violence absolue dans la fosse et On The Verge, dédiée à UnityTX qui sera clairement le climax de leur passage. De nombreux crowdsurfeurs monteront sur scène pour se jeter de nouveau dans la fosse de la Maroquinerie, un joyeux petit bordel comme on les aime !
Si le public sera un peu plus calme que sur le set de Crystal Lake, il sera quand même bon de notifier que prendre des notes sera encore une fois un challenge, l’enchaînement des deux groupes aura été sportif ! Nous repartons de cette soirée complètement lessivés mais au combien satisfaits. Chaque groupe présent ce soir aura tout donné et aura mis une ambiance de folie, c’est le genre de concerts que l’on aimerait tellement revivre, pourvu donc, qu’ils reviennent vite !
[ENGLISH VERSION] We were lucky enough to be invited to the Maroquinerie for a sold-out performance on Sunday, April 27th. The Swedish band thrown were back, accompanied by several other artists, including the Japanese band Crystal Lake, the American band Unity TX, and the English band Graphic Nature. Thanks to Birgit (Oktober Promotion) for the invitation to this event, and also to my partner Estelle for the photos!
It was 7:20 pm when Graphic Nature took the stage. The English band, originally from Kent, arrived on stage in tracksuits and hoodies, delivering a dissonant, fast, and catchy sound. The whole thing was super effective and created a superb atmosphere in the room. In a short but compelling setlist, the Nu-Metalcore band created a sensation and received widespread applause from the crowd with their second song, Locked In. The singer then spoke, all smiles, at the end: « Hello, my name is Graphic Nature, I live in London. » He took the opportunity to take the stage and asked who had seen the band before: no one! The latter laughed and motivated the crowd for the next song: « This song is called Sour. »
The pit opened up to make way for a still-timid but very present pit from this song, and Graphic Nature gave their all to make it grow. During Killing Floor, the band’s vocalist notably came to sing in the middle of the pit, motivating the troops. The audience was well and truly excited when the English band continued with White Noise and Bad Blood. The Nu-Metalcore band asked the audience to bend down and stand up in time with the rhythm, and ended the song with a « You fuck! » The members of Graphic Nature were pleased that the Parisian crowd had followed their request and warmly thanked them. « We have been Graphic Nature, this is our last song. I appreciate every single of you for being in this room. Thank you so much for being here tonight.This song is called Fractured. Thank you so much for watching. »
The English band simply left the Maroquinerie stage, inviting the audience to come meet them at their merchandising stand.
8:05 PM struck when it was UnityTX‘s turn to take the stage. The American band started off super strong with their rap vibe. The Rap/Metal/Hardcore band’s vocalist called for a mosh pit from the very first song!
The band offered tracks with quite different influences: World of Malice and Cross Me, which were very groovy with an omnipresent bass, Playing Favorites, with a lot of rap, and Bang Sh!t. The band was a real pleasure on stage, super cheerful and seriously invested, and this was directly felt by the audience. Hands rose in time, the crowd jumped in time with the band, and all their requests were fulfilled without a hint of hesitation. Problem! We’re more than satisfied with this second act, which continues the evening with a different but complementary energy to that of Graphic Nature.
In addition, UnityTX will take the time to share with the audience, also asking who knew them tonight, with a little more success than their predecessor. They will invite the audience to come see them at the end for a chat and will, of course, motivate the crowd at La Maroquinerie. We will notably be treated to a girls-only pit, where the ladies of the evening will come and have fun, a rather rare initiative and appreciated by the crowd. The vocalist will greet the ladies with a « You’ve been beautiful. »
The evening will end with a crazy energy for the last two songs, which will go by much too quickly. The Americans launch Rukus and Roc Sh!t, two explosive tracks, on which the singer will join the audience in having fun. The band will leave the stage with a big smile. For our part, it’s now time to welcome Crystal Lake on stage, and the anticipation is felt on both sides of the room.
Set changes have never been so fun: the person in charge of setting up the drums plays a solo, the person checking the mics yells into the mic in French, making the room roar. The room is now packed, and the wait passes faster than ever with this excitement! The Japanese band Crystal Lake starts their set at 8:50 pm and, as usual, it’s a massive mess from the first notes! It’s impossible for us to take notes; the room is buzzing!
They mostly play songs written with their new singer, John Robert Centorrino, such as the incredible Blüdgod, which he opens the show with, or Denial and Rebirth, two incredibly effective tracks. On stage, a lot happens because the band simply can’t stay still! The two guitarists Yudai and TJ as well as Mitsuru on bass are real live wires, they motivate a furious audience on both sides of the stage, we almost forget that they are not the main part tonight !
The circle pit, wall of death, and all other such joys are organized in and by the audience themselves. The Japanese, for their part, are having just as much fun on stage, each delivering a performance that lives up to their reputation: violent, festive, and downright effective. While we unfortunately have trouble hearing John (perhaps a balance issue?) at the beginning of the set, it fortunately doesn’t last.
The members of Crystal Lake, who have been playing in France regularly for years, still seem just as happy to be there. The climax of the evening will, of course, be their older, more well-known tracks: what a pleasure to have SIX FEET UNDER live once again. It’s an explosion of joy and crowdsurfers who burst onto the stage! The band closes their set in their trademark good humor with the incredible Apollo, an old but gold track, still as effective and eagerly awaited by the audience!
We could have left there, so incredible, violent, and effective was the Japanese set. But what a joy to know that the Swedish band thrown are ones to watch, because we were obviously there for them too! The band took their stage at 9:50 pm, with impeccable and precise performances. While the band’s performance, which is much calmer and more composed, is nothing like Crystal Lake‘s, the crowd is there!
The Breakdown/Nu-Metalcore hardcore band plays their songs super quickly and efficiently! The band’s vocalist doesn’t speak much, preferring to let their music speak for itself. He introduces a few songs and thanks the audience: « You guys are amazing, thanks so much. »
The Swedes play tracks from their only album, released to date in 2024, and their most numerous EPs. Musically, you can expect a very fat and heavy bass, lots of electro elements, and big beatdown riffs. Relatively new to the scene, having only started releasing tracks in 2022, they are nonetheless incredibly convincing, and for good reason. Despite their young career, the Swedes are now used to playing in France, whether for festivals or concerts, for which they have often supported older bands.
Tonight, the audience will be treated to their most famous tracks, such as Backfire, with which the Hardcore band will open their set; Guilt and Grayout, which will be absolutely violent in the pit; and On The Verge, dedicated to UnityTX, which will clearly be the climax of their performance. Many crowdsurfers will take the stage to throw themselves into the Maroquinerie pit again, a joyful little mess, just the way we like them!
While the audience will be a little calmer than during Crystal Lake’s set, it’s still worth noting that taking notes will once again be a challenge; the two bands’ interplay was a real challenge! We left the evening completely exhausted but oh so satisfied. Every band present this evening gave their all and created a crazy atmosphere. It’s the kind of concert we would love to experience again, so let’s hope they come back soon!
