Le groupe de metalcore ONI est de retour après leur dernier album (The Silver Line, 2023). Genesis est disponible depuis le 24 janvier.
L’introduction d’Erase est dynamique et nous met dans l’ambiance. Le chant arrive et vient calmer les choses pour une courte durée, les instruments revenant vite à la charge. Un petit ralentissement nous informe de l’arrivée du refrain.Ce dernier reprend de plus belle et reste en tête. On a de nombreux changements de rythme, donnant quelque chose d’intéressant et d’énergique, notamment la coupure vers le milieu où le chant est mis en avant. Un premier titre qui ouvre parfaitement cet EP. Realign débute avec une introduction assez atmosphérique et des instruments dynamiques viennent s’y poser. L’ensemble crée une très bonne ambiance et nous met dans de bonnes conditions pour continuer notre écoute. Le chant arrive et les instruments se mettent au second plan, alternant avec des passages plus atmosphériques et où la pression monte quelque peu. J’aime beaucoup l’ambiance et le rythme de ce titre, avec un refrain profond et qui entre en tête. Un solo de guitare vient nous surprendre, percutant et aérien qui redonne du peps au titre et repart de plus belle. L’introduction de Déjà vu est douce. Le chant est lointain mais cela ne sera que de courte durée, car tout explose rapidement. Le morceau est très dynamique jusqu’à l’arrivée du chant qui vient calmer les choses, tout en gardant l’enthousiasme ambiant. Ici, on varie un peu les choses en alternant avec des passages plus énervés. Ces derniers viennent créer de la profondeur et nuancer l’ensemble. Je suis totalement fan du refrain et de son énergie débordante et donnant un certain espoir. La dernière partie laisse éclater les instruments et clôture parfaitement ce titre qui s’est hissé dans mon top dès la première écoute.
Walk Away est en featuring avec Lil Aaron. Dès le début, le titre est assez dynamique et profond sur plusieurs niveaux. Le chant vient tout casser et crée une ambiance tout autre; mélangeant le chant et l’électro. Ce duo donne quelque chose d’intime. Les instruments arrivent doucement, nous conduisant à un refrain prenant et profond, cherchant toujours plus loin et alternant entre deux univers. Ces mélanges sont intéressants et ponctués de très courts passages plus rentre dedans. Control ouvre directement sur le chant, accompagné par la guitare dans le fond. Le duo crée un sentiment de flottement avant que tout n’explose. Les instruments venant renforcer le tout et donnant quelque chose de grand et de fort. On alterne entre passages plus francs et d’autres plus doux, créant un rythme intéressant. Le refrain est le point fort, éclatant et nous transportant avec lui. La dernière partie monte en puissance et chamboule le tout.
Oni nous propose un EP avec des titres captivants et très dynamiques. On se laisse facilement emporter dans leur univers et on en demande toujours plus !

The metalcore band ONI is back after their last album (The Silver Line, 2023). Genesis has been available since January 24.
The introduction to Erase is dynamic and puts us in the mood. The song arrives and calms things down for a short time, the instruments quickly returning to the charge. A slight slowdown informs us of the arrival of the chorus. The latter picks up again and stays in the lead. We have many changes of rhythm, giving something interesting and energetic, notably the cut towards the middle where the singing is highlighted. A first title which opens this EP perfectly. Realign begins with a fairly atmospheric introduction and dynamic instruments come in. The whole thing creates a very good atmosphere and puts us in good conditions to continue our listening. The singing arrives and the instruments take a back seat, alternating with more atmospheric passages where the pressure rises somewhat. I really like the atmosphere and rhythm of this track, with a deep chorus that comes into the lead. A guitar solo comes to surprise us, percussive and airy which gives pep to the title and starts again with a vengeance. The introduction to Déjà vu is gentle. The singing is distant but it will only be short-lived, as everything quickly explodes. The song is very dynamic until the arrival of the vocals which calm things down, while maintaining the ambient enthusiasm. Here, we vary things a little by alternating with more angry passages. These create depth and nuance the whole. I’m a total fan of the chorus and its overflowing energy and giving a certain hope. The last part lets the instruments burst out and perfectly closes this track which climbed into my top from the first listen.
Walk Away is featuring Lil Aaron. From the start, the title is quite dynamic and deep on several levels. The singing breaks everything up and creates a completely different atmosphere; mixing singing and electro. This duo gives something intimate. The instruments arrive slowly, leading us to a gripping and deep chorus, always seeking further and alternating between two universes. These mixtures are interesting and punctuated by very short passages that are more in-depth. Control opens directly with vocals, accompanied by the guitar in the background. The duo creates a feeling of floating before everything explodes. The instruments reinforce everything and give something big and strong. We alternate between sharper passages and softer ones, creating an interesting rhythm. The chorus is the strong point, vibrant and carrying us with it. The last part gains momentum and turns everything upside down.
Oni offers us an EP with captivating and very dynamic tracks. We easily get carried away into their world and always ask for more!
