Les allemands excentriques de Dominum nous présente leur deuxième album intitulé The Dead Don’t Die, disponible à partir du 27 Décembre 2024 par le label Napalm Records.
Ce deuxième opus s’ouvre sur We Are Forlorn qui nous prépare une entrée à la fois creepy et fracassante avec un Metal rapide, précis, des refrains et une rythmique qui reste en tête. Le relai se fait sans transition avec One Of Us qui fait monter d’un cran l’atmosphère post apocalypse tant aimé du groupe. Et cela s’accentue avec The Dead Don’t Die, le single tant écouté et mémorable. Des similitudes sont présents également dans Can’t Kill A Dead Man, This Is Not A Game et The Guardians Of The Night avec même une sacré accélération de la rythmique dans le break.
Un léger virage artistique avec Killed By Life qui a l’originalité d’avoir un rythme et des sonorités légèrement celtique avec toujours cette pâte et cette hargne typique du groupe. Et le changement subtil ne s’arrête pas là car Die For The Devil se présente avec une introduction synthé et avec un refrain épique qui donne envie d’aller mourir pour le diable mais de manière mémorable ou rien ! Même schéma pour Don’t Get Bitten By The Wrong Ones et Happy Deadly Ending avec un tempo plus lent cette fois ci pour les couplets.
En conclusion de ce nouvel opus une reprise de Scorpions, et c’est Rock You Like A Hurricane qui est à l’honneur. Même si cette reprise est très bien exécuté et redonne un coup de jeune à ce titre culte, je la trouve moins bien que la reprise de You Spin Me Around (Like A Record) présent sur leur précédent volume.
Dominum propose une nouvelle fois un voyage dans l’antre de Dr. Dead et son équipe loufoque avec des titres phares et une empreinte particulière. Le groupe se fait sa place sans accros et montre que les zombies en ont plus dans la tête que l’on ne pense. Un album agréable et qui va de ce pas rejoindre ma playlist.

The eccentric Germans of Dominum present their second album, The Dead Don’t Die, available from December 27, 2024 via the Napalm Records label.
This second opus opens with We Are Forlorn, which sets the stage for a creepy, shattering entrance with its fast, precise metal, refrains and rhythm that stay in the head. This is seamlessly followed by One Of Us, which takes the band’s beloved post-apocalypse atmosphere up a notch. The Dead Don’t Die, the much-listened-to and memorable single, takes things even further. Similarities are also present in Can’t Kill A Dead Man, This Is Not A Game and The Guardians Of The Night, with even a hell of a rhythmic acceleration in the break.
A slight artistic shift with Killed By Life, which has the originality of a slightly Celtic rhythm and sound, but still with the band’s typical dough and snarls. And the subtle change doesn’t stop there, as Die For The Devil features a synth intro and an epic chorus that makes you want to go and die for the devil, but memorably or nothing! Don’t Get Bitten By The Wrong Ones and Happy Deadly Ending follow the same pattern, this time with a slower tempo for the verses.
To conclude this new opus, a cover of Scorpions, and it’s Rock You Like A Hurricane that takes pride of place. Although this cover is very well executed and gives a new lease of life to this cult title, I find it less good than the cover of You Spin Me Around (Like A Record) present on their previous volume.
Dominum once again offers a journey into the lair of Dr. Dead and his wacky crew, with a number of standout tracks and a distinctive stamp. The band makes its mark without a hitch, showing that zombies have more on their minds than you might think. An enjoyable album that’s sure to join my playlist.
