Le groupe suédois de Power Metal Brothers Of Metal nous présente son troisième album intitulé Fimbulvinter, disponible à partir du 1er Novembre 2024 par AFM Records.
Pour Sowilo, c’est le commencement d’une nouvelle aventure épique riche en riff et autre chœurs et refrains enivrants mené le chanteur et la chanteuse principal. La tension monte d’un cran avec Flight Of The Ravens et sa batterie frénétique et son rythme soutenu et ça s’intensifie avec Giantslayer, Heart Of Stone, The Other Son Of Odin. Ces derniers se démarquent légèrement des précédentes notamment avec sa durée ainsi que pour son tempo tempéré et saccadé.
La surprise avec Rivers Of Gold avec une introduction à la guitare acoustique et aux influences qui me rappelle la musique Pagan. Tout comme Nanna’s Fate qui est la ballade de ce nouvel opus. Puis l’atmosphère s’alourdi avec Blood Red Sky et Berserkir qui mettent en avant des chœurs graves comme sous forme de cri de guerre. Ratatos vient casser la cadence avec son introduction plutôt longue et calme mais cela revient en force avec le refrain et par la courte durée de la chanson qui vient remonter le niveau. Et Chasing Lights continue sur la même lancée.
Heavy Metal Viking est comme son nom l’indique une chanson avec tous les codes du Heavy Metal et qui nous rappelle les bon vieux classique qui ont bercé notre enfance /jeunesse/adolescence avec toujours ce petit truc qui nous dit « C’est Brothers Of Metal ! « .
Fimbulvinter va appuyé encore plus ce côté Power /Heavy avec en prime une interlude avec un passage parlé et posé qui nous permet d’apprécier le timbre de cette voix et nous offre en prime une très jolie conclusion.
Brothers Of Metal nous propose un album un peu redondant et répétitif mais avec de sérieux jeux de rythme et une belle harmonie entre les deux voix et les instruments. Tout s’enchaîne assez bien sans trop de dispersion. Le seul petit bémol à mon avis est la longueur de l’album j’aurais apprécier que moins de titres soit présent afin d’enlever l’aspect répétitif selon moi. Cela reste un excellent album de Power / Heavy / Viking Metal qui j’ai quand même hâte de découvrir en live.

Swedish power metal band Brothers Of Metal present their third album, Fimbulvinter, available from November 1, 2024 via AFM Records.
For Sowilo, it’s the start of a new epic adventure rich in riffs, choruses and intoxicating choruses led by the lead singer. The tension is ratcheted up a notch with Flight Of The Ravens and its frenetic drumming and sustained rhythm, and intensifies with Giantslayer, Heart Of Stone and The Other Son Of Odin. The latter stand out slightly from the former, notably for their length and for their jerky tempo.
The surprise is Rivers Of Gold, with an acoustic guitar introduction and influences that remind me of Pagan music. Just like Nanna’s Fate, the ballad of this new opus. The atmosphere is then heightened by Blood Red Sky and Berserkir, which feature low choirs that sound like war cries. Ratatos breaks the rhythm with its rather long and quiet introduction, but comes back with a vengeance with the chorus and the short duration of the song, which raises the level. And Chasing Lights continues in the same vein.
Heavy Metal Viking is, as its name suggests, a song with all the heavy metal codes, reminding us of the good old classics that lulled our childhood/youth/adolescence, always with that little something that tells us “This is Brothers Of Metal! “.
Fimbulvinter takes this power/heavy side even further, with a spoken-word interlude that allows us to appreciate the timbre of this voice and offers a lovely conclusion.
Brothers Of Metal offers us an album that’s a little redundant and repetitive, but with some serious rhythm games and a fine harmony between the two voices and the instruments. Everything flows together quite well, without too much dispersion. The only downside, in my opinion, is the length of the album: I’d have appreciated fewer tracks to take away the repetitive aspect. Still, this is an excellent Power / Heavy / Viking Metal album that I can’t wait to discover live.
