[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] En ce mardi soir, un concert incroyable auquel j’allais assister s’est tenu lieu avec trois fantastiques groupes. En effet, SoilWork, In Flames et Arch Enemy se sont produits au Zénith de la Villette à Paris. Pour les personnes qui n’ont pas pu y aller, je vais vous faire découvrir, à travers cet article, le concert qui nous a projetés dans un monde imaginaire.
En ouverture SoilWork. Un groupe que j’affectionne particulièrement, car il a été une de mes portes d’entrée au metal suédois. Les voir jouer en live, c’était une grande première que j’attendais énormément ! Plus petit, je me passais en boucle l’album Stabbing The Drama. L’écouter en réel, c’est quelque chose de complètement différent. Le dernier morceau du groupe a éveillé une atmosphère festive ce soir, incitant le public à participer en chantant. Un beau moment de partage entre les musiciens et les fans.
Stabbing The Drama : c’est mon titre/album préféré du groupe et vraiment rien à voir quand il est écouté de vive voix. Les guitares résonnaient d’une manière inédite, possédant une couleur sonore que je n’avais jamais rencontrée auparavant sur ce morceau. En ce qui concerne la batterie, elle est tellement impressionnante qu’elle me coupe le souffle, avec des contre-temps d’une manière que j’admire énormément. À mon avis, ce titre est une belle porte d’entrée pour ceux qui désirent écouter SoilWork, avec un riff aérien qui allie force et légèreté, incitant à chanter le refrain de manière énergique.
Une fois leur prestation terminée, je n’en reviens toujours pas, c’était à la fois rapide et long. Sans doute avec les nombreuses ballades qu’ils ont joué en live, ce qui je trouve n’est pas assez fait pour les groupes qui en ont pas mal dans leurs discographies. Dans le cas où vous ne seriez pas encore familier avec ce groupe incroyable, je vous conseille de l’écouter sans délai.
Une fois la prestation de SoilWork terminée, place à In Flames. Également une première en live, j’ai trouvé que la voix avait beaucoup plus d’impact sur scène, j’ai été stupéfait à quel point c’était énorme le gap de puissance qu’il avait. J’ai trouvé cette setlist incroyable, car elle incluait tous mes titres préférés, c’était probablement un clin d’œil du destin, haha… Pendant la performance, un beau message d’amour a été partagé par le groupe, mêlant des morceaux choisis et des discours dédicacés à l’amour. Envers les proches, amis, famille et toute personne en général. Car pour lui, nous vivons dans un monde vraiment fou et qu’il faut prendre le temps d’aller dire aux personnes qui sont chères à nos yeux à quel point, on les aime. Très émouvant.
I Am Above : En effet, c’est un morceau que j’aime beaucoup écouter, car il est à la fois relaxant, mais super dynamique grâce à ses passages chants clairs et chants saturés. En plus de ça, le public commençait à faire du morceau, ce qui en live était époustouflant. Au moment du solo, une statue commence à surgir derrière la batterie, c’est la faucheuse de l’album Foregone. Par ailleurs, l’œil, qui apparaît sous la forme d’une horloge, scintillait de manière éclatante, ce qui donnait l’illusion que la mascotte portait son regard directement sur la foule vibrante et dansante tout au long du morceau.
Sur la fin des 3 derniers morceaux, la foule qui était assise en gradin a été invitée à se mettre debout afin de célébrer cet amour dont le groupe nous offrait. La plupart des gens ont pris part au jeu, bien que certains aient choisi de rester assis (vous ne pouvez pas nous échapper, haha). Le chanteur nous a alors demandé de nous lâcher une dernière fois, que ce soit en chantant, dansant ou en sautant, ou autre. C’est alors que les premières notes sonnent, et le groupe a tout donné pour que nous, public, nous nous amusions avec eux et passions une bonne soirée.
In Flames termine leur show et place à Arch Enemy, une atmosphère lourde règne, pleine de tensions. En effet, pour être allé à de nombreux concerts du groupe, j’adore toujours l’intro et la première musique « Deceiver, Deceiver » .
Pour les voir souvent en concert, je peux confirmer qu’elle est très efficace pour se mettre dedans. Un petit point que je tiens quand même à souligner, comme on le sait Jeff Loomis n’est plus dans le groupe, c’est Joey Concepcion le nouveau guitariste. Bien qu’il soit très compétent sur le plan technique, j’ai constaté qu’il n’avait pas l’impact nécessaire sur scène. Après, il n’est pas là depuis 1 an donc on lui laisse toutes ses chances. En parlant de nouveau guitariste, un nouvel album est censé arriver d’ici 6 mois et Paris a eu le droit à quelques nouveaux morceaux inédits. Avec ce petit teasing des nouveaux titres, le nouvel album du groupe suédois va frapper fort
Nemesis : quand les premières notes résonnent, par le grand Michael Amott, je le sais, un déferlement de mélodies va tomber. Sur ce morceau ce que j’adore aussi, c’est la voix d’Alissa White-Gluz. Elle utilise un timbre de voix très bas que j’avoue, je n’ai jamais entendu ailleurs. Au moment du solo, la foule construit un grand circle pit avant que les deux extrémités ne s’entrechoquent.
Une belle soirée offerte par nos groupes suédois, l’ambiance était électrique et festive. Dans le cas où vous ne seriez pas familiers avec ces trois groupes, je vous les suggérerais sans hésiter. J’ai qu’une envie, c’est d’y retourner pour rechanter les refrains avec plein d’autres personnes haha, la prestation était magnifique du début à la fin avec de très beaux messages d’amour surtout de la part du chanteur In Flames.
[ENGLISH VERSION] On this Tuesday evening, an incredible concert I was about to attend took place with three fantastic bands. SoilWork, In Flames and Arch Enemy played at the Zénith de la Villette in Paris. For those of you who couldn’t make it, I’m going to take you on a tour of the concert that took us to an imaginary world.
Opening with SoilWork. A band I’m particularly fond of, as they were one of my gateways into Swedish metal. Seeing them live was a big first that I was really looking forward to! When I was younger, I used to play the Stabbing The Drama album over and over in my head. Listening to it live is something completely different. The band’s final track awakened a festive atmosphere this evening, prompting the audience to join in by singing along. A great moment of sharing between musicians and fans.
Stabbing The Drama: this is my favorite track/album from the band, and really nothing to write home about. The guitars resonated in an unprecedented way, possessing a sound color I’d never encountered before on this track. As for the drums, they are so impressive that they take my breath away, with counter-beats in a way that I greatly admire. In my opinion, this track is a great entry point for those wishing to listen to SoilWork, with an airy riff that combines strength and lightness, prompting energetic singing of the chorus.
Once their performance was over, I still couldn’t believe it, it was both fast and long. No doubt due to the many ballads they played live, which I find is not done enough for bands who have quite a few in their discographies. In case you’re not yet familiar with this incredible band, I’d advise you to give it a listen without delay.
Once SoilWork had finished, it was time for In Flames. Also a live first, I found that the voice had much more impact on stage, and I was amazed at how big the power gap was. I found the setlist incredible, as it included all my favorite tracks, so it was probably a wink of fate, haha… During the performance, a beautiful message of love was shared by the band, mixing selected songs and speeches dedicated to love. To loved ones, friends, family and everyone in general. Because for him, we live in a really crazy world, and we need to take the time to tell the people we care about how much we love them. Very moving.
I Am Above: Indeed, it’s a track I really enjoy listening to, because it’s both relaxing and super-dynamic thanks to its clean and saturated vocal passages. On top of that, the audience was starting to get into the song, which was amazing live. At the moment of the solo, a statue starts to appear behind the drums, the grim reaper from the Foregone album. In addition, the eye, which appears in the form of a clock, flickered brilliantly, giving the illusion that the mascot was looking directly at the vibrant, dancing crowd throughout the track.
At the end of the last 3 songs, the crowd seated in the tier was invited to stand up and celebrate the love the band was offering us. Most people joined in, although some chose to remain seated (you can’t escape us, haha). The singer then asked us to let loose one last time, whether by singing, dancing, jumping or whatever. Then the first notes rang out, and the band gave it their all to ensure that we, the audience, enjoyed ourselves with them and had a great time.
In Flames end their show and Arch Enemy come on stage, a heavy atmosphere reigns, full of tension. Indeed, having been to many of the band’s concerts, I always love the intro and first tune “Deceiver, Deceiver”.
Having seen them live many times, I can confirm that it’s a very effective way of getting into the swing of things. As we all know, Jeff Loomis is no longer with the band; Joey Concepcion is the new guitarist. Although technically very competent, I found that he lacked the necessary impact on stage. After all, he hasn’t been here for 1 year, so we’re giving him every chance. Speaking of a new guitarist, a new album is due to arrive in 6 months’ time, and Paris has been treated to a few new, previously unreleased tracks. With this little teasing of new tracks, the Swedish band’s new album. Will hit hard
Nemesis: when the first notes sound, by the great Michael Amott, I know it, a flood of melodies is about to fall. What I also love about this track is Alissa White-Gluz‘s voice. She uses a very low vocal timbre that I confess I’ve never heard anywhere else. At the moment of the solo, the crowd builds a big circle pit before the two ends collide.
A great evening from our Swedish bands, the atmosphere was electric and festive. In case you’re not familiar with these three bands, I’d suggest them without hesitation. All I want to do is go back and sing the choruses again with lots of other people haha, the performance was magnificent from start to finish, with some lovely messages of love, especially from the singer In Flames.
