[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Quatre ans après leur dernier album mais aussi huit ans après leur dernier album avec le line-up d’origine, As It Is sont de retour ce 17 juillet 2026 avec leur nouvel album studio tout simplement intitulé As It Is qui sera disponible via FLG.
Et dès le début de I’m So Alive on retrouve les sonorités emplies de chaleur et de positivité qu’on apprécie particulièrement chez le groupe. Un premier titre qui pourrait avoir figuré sur l’album okay. (2017) avec la voix si reconnaissable et pleine de soleil de Patty Walters qu’on retrouve toujours avec plaisir dans chacun des titres proposés par As It Is, AII sans Patty ce serait tout simplement impensable. Le groupe nous gratifie également d’un solo de saxophone mais aussi de la présence d’une chorale et dès le début de l’album on ne peut que noter une envie de renouveau tout en gardant ce côté très old-school! Le deuxième titre n’est autre que Ruin My Life en featuring avec Murray Macleod du groupe The Xcerts sorti il y’a déjà quelques temps. Là encore l’émotion est palpable sur ce morceau très personnel aux deux formations qui explorent ici les difficultés rencontrées en tant que groupe mais aussi le bonheur de se retrouver avec un refrain qui restera définitivement ancré dans les mémoires. La valse des singles continue avec Do You Remember? typiquement le genre de morceau Pop-Punk qu’on adore avec la bonne dose de nostalgie amplifiée par les choeurs qu’on retrouve sur la partie finale du titre. Do You Remember? a été co-écrit avec Max Helyer (You Me At Six) et évoque toutes les anecdotes rencontrées par des groupes en concert ou en studio, en gros tout les souvenirs chers à As It Is.
Le saxophone fait son retour dès l’intro de Live, Laugh, Love, Los Angeles ce qui apporte son côté renouveau que la formation anglaise cherche à apporter à sa musique tout en restant dans un registre familier pour ne pas larguer la fan-base. Un morceau plus sobre qui met l’accent sur la voix du frontman et sur ses parties de guitare pour Marilyn, une chanson gorgée d’espoir et d’humanité tout simplement à l’image de Patty Walter et de ce qu’il dégage quand il est sur scène ou quand on le rencontre. Là encore, les émotions ne sont pas laissées de côté et on ne peut que les laisser nous envahir sur Marilyn avant Watching The World Go By qui apporte un côté plus sombre à l’album en nous confrontant à la dure réalité du monde actuel atténuée par la partie finale au piano. Les accords de guitares à la fin nous conduisent directement à Lose Your Way & Find Yourself qui est le morceau qui a scellé les retrouvailles entre les membres du groupe, le morceau nous rappelle à quel point nos amis peuvent être importants dans notre cheminement pour aller mieux là encore la positivité est à l’oeuvre et fait de ce morceau un des grands moments de ce nouvel opus.
Last At The Party ralentit le rythme de l’album en nous offrant quelque chose proche d’une ballade assortie quand même d’un solo de guitare mais As It Is ne s’arrête pas là et nous offre un final très jazzy. Turn To Dust voit Ben (guitare) prendre une part plus importante dans les parties de chant comme dans les morceaux suivants notamment If I Ever Lost You. La dernière partie de l’album propose des morceaux plus versés dans la mélancolie et les émotions brutes que d’autres comme I’m So Alive ou encore Ruin My Life. Not Anymore pourrait être considéré comme un interlude accoustique où on se laisser bercer par la voix de Patty avant ce qui est considéré comme le dernier morceau sur ce nouvel opus : What If It All Works Out un morceau plus entraînant avec des choeurs très présents qui seront très certainement repris lors des prochains concerts du groupe si ce morceau est joué. Mais sur l’édition physique on retrouvera un titre bonus Headlights & Stars, un dernier morceau qui s’intégrera parfaitement dans la deuxième moitié de l’album.
As It Is est bien de retour, ce nouvel album en est la plus belle preuve! On retrouve des titres inspirés de ce qui a fait leur succès mais également de nouvelles sonorités qui montrent que le groupe cherche coûte que coûte à évoluer et on a plus que hâte de voir cette nouvelle mouture prendre vie sur scène!

[ENGLISH VERSION] Four years after their last album – and eight years after their last album with the original line-up – As It Is are back on 17 July 2026 with their new studio album, simply titled *As It Is*, which will be available via FLG.
Right from the start of *I’m So Alive*, we hear the warm, positive sounds that we particularly love about the band. This opening track could easily have featured on the album *Okay.* (2017), with Patty Walters’ instantly recognisable, sun-drenched voice – a delight to hear on every track by As It Is; indeed, As It Is without Patty would simply be unthinkable. The band also treats us to a saxophone solo as well as the presence of a choir, and right from the start of the album, one cannot help but notice a desire for renewal whilst retaining that very old-school feel! The second track is none other than *Ruin My Life*, featuring Murray Macleod from the band The Xcerts, released some time ago. Once again, the emotion is palpable on this track, which is deeply personal to both bands as they explore the difficulties they’ve faced as a group, as well as the joy of coming together, with a chorus that’s sure to remain etched in our memories. The parade of singles continues with ‘Do You Remember?’, the sort of pop-punk track we love, with just the right dose of nostalgia amplified by the backing vocals in the track’s finale. ‘Do You Remember?’ was co-written with Max Helyer (You Me At Six) and draws on all the anecdotes bands encounter whilst on tour or in the studio – basically, all the memories dear to As It Is.
The saxophone makes a comeback right from the intro to ‘Live, Laugh, Love, Los Angeles’, bringing a breath of fresh air that the English band are seeking to inject into their music, whilst staying within a familiar style so as not to alienate their fanbase. A more understated track that highlights the frontman’s vocals and his guitar parts on ‘Marilyn’ – a song brimming with hope and humanity, simply reflecting Patty Walter and the vibe he gives off when he’s on stage or when you meet him. Once again, emotions are not sidelined, and we can’t help but let them wash over us on ‘Marilyn’, before ‘Watching The World Go By’ brings a darker edge to the album by confronting us with the harsh reality of today’s world, softened by the closing piano section. The guitar chords at the end lead us straight into ‘Lose Your Way & Find Yourself’, the track that sealed the reunion between the band members; it reminds us just how important our friends can be on our journey towards feeling better. Here again, positivity is at work, making this track one of the highlights of this new album.
‘Last At The Party’ slows the pace of the album, offering us something akin to a ballad, albeit featuring a guitar solo; yet As It Is don’t stop there, treating us to a very jazzy finale. ‘Turn To Dust’ sees Ben (guitar) taking on a more prominent role on the vocals, as he does in the following tracks, notably ‘If I Ever Lost You’. The final section of the album features tracks that lean more towards melancholy and raw emotion than others, such as ‘I’m So Alive’ or ‘Ruin My Life’. “Not Anymore” could be seen as an acoustic interlude where we’re lulled by Patty’s voice before what is considered the final track on this new album: “What If It All Works Out”, a more upbeat track with prominent backing vocals that will almost certainly be sung along to at the band’s upcoming gigs if this track is played. However, the physical release includes a bonus track, ‘Headlights & Stars’ – a final track that fits perfectly into the second half of the album.
As It Is are well and truly back, and this new album is the finest proof of that! It features tracks inspired by what made them successful, but also new sounds that show the band is determined to evolve at all costs, and we can’t wait to see this new line-up come to life on stage!
