Le groupe de Metal Symphonique allemand Leaves’ Eyes nous présente son nouvel EP intitulé Song Of Darkness, disponible le 6 mars 2026 par le label Reigning Phoenix Music.
Ce nouvel opus est marqué par l’arrivée du nouveau batteur : Simon Skrlec (Atrocity, Obnounce, Vulvathrone).
Ce dernier contient 4 chansons toutes plus envoûtantes les unes que les autres, par exemple Song Of Darkness, va être introduite par un chuchotement qui nous laisse pressentir une pesanteur imminente, mais lorsque le refrain arrive l’harmonie prend le relai, pour donner lieu à une chanson époustouflante, alors qu’Hall Of The Brave, va accentuer l’aspect plus tribal avec son introduction aux percussions ethniques, mais aussi avec le chant guttural qui donne une dimension plus lourde, et cela se retrouve aussi dans Until The Last Day où le côté tribal est parti mais pas l’aspect obscur. Ici le point fort sont les chœurs qui offrent un contraste absolument divin. Et comme ce ne serait pas un EP de Metal Symphonique sans ballade alors c’est Roots Eternal qui s’y colle, avec une douceur et une simplicité encore insoupçonnée jusque là.
Leaves’ Eyes nous offre un EP absolument divin qui mériterait d’être beaucoup plus long tant les émotions ressenties étaient intenses. Un magnifique interlude qui introduit le nouveau batteur avec brio.

German symphonic metal band Leaves’ Eyes presents its new EP, Song Of Darkness, available March 6, 2026, on the Reigning Phoenix Music label.
This new release marks the arrival of a new drummer: Simon Skrlec (Atrocity, Obnounce, Vulvathrone).
It contains four songs, each more captivating than the last. For example, Song Of Darkness opens with a whisper that foreshadows an impending heaviness, but when the chorus kicks in, harmony takes over, resulting in a breathtaking song, while Hall Of The Brave accentuates the more tribal aspect with its introduction of ethnic percussion, as well as guttural vocals that give it a heavier dimension. This is also found in Until The Last Day, where the tribal aspect is gone but the dark aspect remains. Here, the highlight is the backing vocals, which offer an absolutely divine contrast. And since it wouldn’t be a symphonic metal EP without a ballad, Roots Eternal fits the bill, with a sweetness and simplicity that was previously unsuspected.
Leaves’ Eyes offers us an absolutely divine EP that deserves to be much longer, given the intensity of the emotions it evokes. A magnificent interlude that brilliantly introduces the new drummer.
