Le groupe suédois Crowne est de retour avec un nouvel album intitulé Wonderland, disponible à partir du 22 Août 2025 par le label Frontiers Records.
Ce dernier va marquer en accentuant le style qui caractérise bien le groupe notamment avec Wonderland qui sert d’ouverture. Ce titre va marquer avec ses mélodies au synthé et ses refrains assez répétitifs et entêtants. Même esprit pour Waiting For You qui reprend les même codes d’écriture avec des riffs un peu plus Heavy et une transition inexistante au refrain. Tout comme Timing Is Right, Hearts Collide, Legacy qui va se démarquer par sa longueur.
Eye Of The Oracle est le petit cousin au dixième degré du titre culte The Final Countdown du groupe de légende Europe, similitude qui se retrouve aussi grâce ou à cause de John Leven le bassiste et membre du groupe de légende. Encore une ressemblance avec le reste de l’album avec Heaven Tonight qui a des riffs un peu plus lourds et soutenus mais malheureusement rien qui sort de l’ordinaire. Seule originalité vient de l’introduction Warlords Of The North avec une légère inspiration orientale mais qui ne dure pas assez longtemps pour être exploitée, le reste de la chanson rejoint les autres.
Il est venu le temps de la ballade de l’album et c’est Goodbye qui se charge d’être une ballade Heavy Metal des plus simple et classique que j’ai entendues dans l’histoire du Heavy Metal Mélodique. Love Thy Enemy a BEAUCOUP plus de potentiel, déjà dans son introduction au piano ultra simple et efficace. Ensuite vient la rythmique du couplet qui aggrave, alourdie et complète la simplicité du morceau jusqu’à embellir le piano. C’est une chanson qui marche tant elle est simple et pure. Tout ça pour conclure avec The Fall, qui s’inspire très largement de Scorpions par sa manière d’emmener la guitare dans sa mélodie. Une inspiration qui s’arrête là car le reste reste dans la continuité de l’opus.
Crowne nous propose un album ultra répétitif avec presque aucune prise de risque et ne sort absolument pas de sa zone de confort. Pour les fans de Heavy Metal Mélodique classique et sans complexité foncez sans attendre par contre si vous aimez les nuances de jeu, passez votre chemin !

Swedish band Crowne is back with a new album entitled Wonderland, available from August 22, 2025, on the Frontiers Records label.
The album will make its mark by emphasizing the style that characterizes the band, particularly with Wonderland, which serves as the opening track. This song will stand out with its synth melodies and repetitive, catchy choruses. The same spirit can be found in Waiting For You, which uses the same songwriting style with slightly heavier riffs and no transition to the chorus. The same goes for Timing Is Right, Hearts Collide, and Legacy, which stands out for its length.
Eye Of The Oracle is the tenth cousin of the cult track The Final Countdown by the legendary band Europe, a similarity that can also be found thanks to or because of John Leven, the bassist and member of the legendary band. Another similarity with the rest of the album is Heaven Tonight, which has slightly heavier and more sustained riffs, but unfortunately nothing out of the ordinary. The only originality comes from the introduction to Warlords Of The North, with a slight oriental inspiration, but it doesn’t last long enough to be exploited, and the rest of the song is similar to the others.
Now it’s time for the album’s ballad, Goodbye, which is one of the simplest and most classic heavy metal ballads I’ve ever heard in the history of melodic heavy metal. Love Thy Enemy has MUCH more potential, starting with its ultra-simple and effective piano intro. Then comes the rhythm of the verse, which intensifies, weighs down, and completes the simplicity of the song, embellishing the piano. It’s a song that works because it’s so simple and pure. All this leads to The Fall, which is heavily inspired by Scorpions in the way it brings the guitar into the melody. The inspiration ends there, as the rest of the album remains consistent with the opus.
Crowne offers us an ultra-repetitive album with almost no risk-taking and absolutely no departure from his comfort zone. For fans of classic, uncomplicated melodic heavy metal, go for it without hesitation, but if you like nuanced playing, move on!
