Le groupe de Metal Symphonique allemand Xandria nous présente son nouvel album intitulé Eclipse, disponible à partir du 7 Août 2026 par le label Napalm Records.
Le groupe est marqué par ces nombreux changements de line Up notamment avec le départ de Tim Schwarz, le bassiste en avril 2026.
Pour commencer cet album une ouverture instrumentale sombre et qui promet de nombreuses aventures avec Syzygy puis Eclipse fait son entrée de manière épique avec des chœurs époustouflants et un riff de guitare à couper le souffle. Au niveau des paroles, il y a une très belle recherche avec la métaphore de l’éclipse qui représente l’espoir dans une bataille où l’obscurité représente l’ennemi. Autre prouesse de composition avec Colours dont l’introduction peut très largement être considérer comme une bande son originale avec une belle note en chant guttural. Pour le texte cette fois-ci c’est clairement un cri de guerre pour motiver les troupes dans une lutte en y insufflant encore une fois de l’espoir dans le cœur de chacun.
Un peu de douceur après deux chansons assez mouvementé avec The Shannon’s House dont le début est apporté par une mélodie au piano accompagner par un léger sample de flute pour un tempo plus lent. Cette fois-ci la thématique du mal du pays toujours dans le même contexte. The Grand Delusion assume son influence Power Metal dans sa mélodie tout en gardant sa pate symphonique qui raconte la grande désillusion présente sur le champ de bataille, le tout emmené avec un peu plus d’énergie que la précédente. La suite avec un rythme plus ralenti comme pour marqué une pause de cette grande histoire pour la touche d’émotion dans Wave Of Tanis avec toujours ce même message d’espoir dans les paroles.
La rythmique monte d’un cran et reprends son entrain du début pour un court instant avant que la voix d’Ambre Vourvahis vienne nous bercer dans Northstar, dont le message est assez explicite et parle de l’étoile du nord qui guide tous les chemins avec envie et passion. En parlant de ça, Masquerade déboule dans l’album comme la révolution musicale avec un Metal puissant et frénétique porté avec brutalité par Ambre encore une fois mais avec un chant guttural impeccable, ce qui contraste énormément avec The Last Generation qui se positionne comme une ballade Metal authentique avec beaucoup de ralentissement de rythme et des chœurs prenant comme un cri brute du cœur. Le chemin du rythme reprends sa course habituelle dans The Poetry Of The Real World pour enchainer ensuite sur Lore qui conclu cet opus avec un voyage musicale de 8 minutes juste captivant.
Xandria nous propose un album rempli d’histoires avec des textes travaillés en complémentarité de la mélodie qui vient les bercer. La voix d’Ambre est époustouflante et le line-up actuelle a fourni un travail d’exception pour habiller le tout.

The German symphonic metal band Xandria presents its new album, Eclipse, available starting August 7, 2026, via Napalm Records.
The band has undergone numerous lineup changes, most notably with the departure of bassist Tim Schwarz in April 2026.
The album kicks off with a dark instrumental opener that promises many adventures with Syzygy, followed by Eclipse, which makes an epic entrance with breathtaking choruses and a jaw-dropping guitar riff. Lyrically, there’s a beautiful exploration of the eclipse metaphor, which represents hope in a battle where darkness embodies the enemy. Another compositional feat is Colors, whose introduction could easily be considered an original soundtrack, featuring a beautiful guttural vocal note. Lyrically, this track is clearly a battle cry to motivate the troops in a struggle, once again instilling hope in everyone’s hearts.
A bit of gentleness follows two rather intense songs with The Shannon’s House, which opens with a piano melody accompanied by a light flute sample at a slower tempo. This time, the theme of homesickness remains within the same context. The Grand Delusion embraces its power metal influence in its melody while retaining its symphonic flair, recounting the great disillusionment present on the battlefield—all delivered with a bit more energy than the previous track. The album continues with a slower rhythm, as if to pause this grand narrative for a touch of emotion in Wave Of Tanis, with the same message of hope still present in the lyrics.
The rhythm picks up a notch and regains its initial momentum for a brief moment before Ambre Vourvahis’s voice lulls us into Northstar, whose message is quite explicit, speaking of the North Star that guides all paths with longing and passion. Speaking of which, Masquerade bursts onto the album like a musical revolution with powerful, frenetic metal delivered with brutal intensity by Ambre once again—but this time with impeccable guttural vocals—which contrasts sharply with The Last Generation, an authentic metal ballad featuring significant tempo drops and backing vocals that feel like a raw cry from the heart. The rhythm picks up its usual pace again in The Poetry Of The Real World, leading seamlessly into Lore, which concludes this album with a simply captivating 8-minute musical journey.
Xandria offers us an album brimming with stories, featuring carefully crafted lyrics that complement the melodies that carry them. Ambre’s vocals are breathtaking, and the current lineup has done an exceptional job of bringing it all together.
