[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Le troisième album studio du groupe de Nu Metal Tetrarch, intitulé The Ugly Side Of Me, sera disponible ce vendredi 09 mai via Napalm Records.
C’est avec Anything Like Myself que Tetrarch va débuter ce nouvel album! Les parties instrumentales ainsi que celles de chant rappellent Korn à la grande époque et dans le plus moderne on pourrait penser à du Lacuna Coil des derniers albums. Le morceau est puissant et intense mais ne perds pas son sens de la mélodie. Les lyrics du titre renvoient à la thématique de la santé mentale avec des lignes telles que :
« Everyday’s a fight
Lately I haven’t felt (I’ve not felt)
Anything like myself (I’m not like myself)
I’m struggle I’m weakness
Nervous and anxious
Make it go away
Today I’m not me »
Le single Never Again (Parasite) prend la suite met en avant pour la première fois le chant de la guitariste Diamond Rowe, en espérant que ce ne soit pas la dernière fois car sa voix apporte un plus au morceau qui reste relativement similaire au précédent mais là le groupe évoque une relation humaine toxique qui a mis une des deux parties au plus bas. Des thèmes assez modernes avec des influences plus Old-School! Live Not Fantasize reste agressive tout en ayant un refrain qui restera en tête un bon moment, le message ici est de ne jamais laisser les sentiments et les pensées négatifs définir qui on est. On a aussi parfois l’impression d’écouter des vieux morceaux de Disturbed (fort heureusement en bien meilleurs) comme sur Erase qui est doté d’un bon solo de guitare de la part de Diamond. Pour l’instant même si The Ugly Side Of Me possède de bons morceaux, il reste un poil répétitif…Heureusement les morceaux restent courts comme Crawl qui replonge dans les années 99/2000 soit la bonne époque du Néo Metal! Le groovy Cold rejoindrait quand à lui avec facilité la discographie de Static-X quand au morceau qui donne son nom à l’album The Ugly Side Of Me qui conclut l’album, on peut avoir l’impression que la voix de Josh se rapproche de celle de Feu Chester Bennington (Linkin Park).
Tetrarch propose un bon album de Nu Metal avec diverses influences qui vont plonger les nostalgiques dans l’âge d’or du Neo Metal. Le point fort de The Ugly Side Of Me reste ses morceaux accrocheurs et courts qui peuvent facilement se retenir et rester en tête mais le gros point faible est son côté répétitif et peu innovant… Ce nouvel album pourrait quand même être considéré comme une bonne porte d’entrée à ceux qui n’écoutent pas de Metal mais qui souhaitent découvrir le genre!

[ENGLISH VERSION] Nu Metal band Tetrarch‘s third studio album, entitled The Ugly Side Of Me, will be available this Friday, May 09 via Napalm Records.
Tetrarch kicks off this new album with Anything Like Myself! The instrumental and vocal parts are reminiscent of Korn‘s heyday, while the more modern sound is reminiscent of Lacuna Coil from recent albums. The track is powerful and intense, but never loses its sense of melody. The track’s lyrics evoke the theme of mental health, with lines such as :
« Everyday’s a fight

The follow-up single Never Again (Parasite) features guitarist Diamond Rowe‘s vocals for the first time, and we hope it won’t be the last time, as her voice adds an extra dimension to the track, which remains relatively similar to the previous one, but here the band evokes a toxic human relationship that has brought one of the two parties to a low point. Quite modern themes with more Old-School influences! Live Not Fantasize remains aggressive yet has a chorus that will stay in your head for a long time, the message here being to never let negative feelings and thoughts define who you are. At times, it also feels like listening to old Disturbed tracks (fortunately in much better form), as on Erase, which features a fine guitar solo from Diamond. For the moment, even if The Ugly Side Of Me has some good tracks, it remains a little repetitive… Fortunately, the tracks remain short, like Crawl, which harks back to the good old days of Neo Metal (99/2000)! The groovy Cold would easily join Static-X‘s discography, while on the closing track, The Ugly Side Of Me, Josh‘s voice sounds a little like the late Chester Bennington (Linkin Park).
Tetrarch offers a good Nu Metal album with various influences that will plunge nostalgic fans into the golden age of Neo Metal. The strong point of The Ugly Side Of Me remains its catchy, short songs that are easy to remember and stay in the head, but the weak point is its repetitive, uninnovative side… Still, this new album could be considered a good gateway for those who don’t listen to Metal but want to discover the genre!
