[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Motionless In White a dévoilé son nouvel album, Decades , aujourd’hui (17 juillet 2026) via Roadrunner Records. Après trois singles dont un en demi-teinte, qu’est ce que le groupe nous a réservé pour la suite?
C’est le morceau éponyme Decades qui ouvre le bal autant dire que dès l’intro c’est relativement bon et on y retrouve des inspirations à la Slipknot. En soit avec une rythmique énergique et le chant screamé de Chris Motionless, ce serait plutôt un bon début mais le morceau tourne en rond et c’est le breakdown introduit par « Still here, count the years, fuck a tombstone » qui vient TOUT sauver! La suite avec Log_in//crash_out avec des sonorités un peu plus électro et un Blegh! ravageur, là où les couplets se veulent plus Heavy, le refrain revient à quelque chose de plus mélodique et accrocheur et là encore ça ne fonctionne pas vraiment de notre côté…et les choeurs de Cheerleaders on ne sait pas trop ce que ça vient faire là…Ce morceau est un gros « Dommage » à lui tout seul! Dernier single en date R.I.P en featuring avec Skylar Grey, une ballade et là c’est une catastrophe… Les morceaux à la Masterpiece, In Another Life et autres pour plaire aux groupies il suffit et là c’est encore une fois un non catégorique et définitif!
« This Is My Brutality » ouvre Fight Like Hell ! Là encore on retrouve des sonorités familières mais également un couplet plus Rap plutôt inattendu en bref un morceau énergique qui remonte l’album après la déception cruelle de R.I.P (et les petites références voilées à notre Mami, Rhea Ripley sont du pain béni). Deuxième featuring et pas des moindres celui avec Corey Taylor sur Playing God, une intro à la Slipknot et un Get The Fuck Up des deux vocalistes montrent directement qu’on va avoir droit au premier VRAI morceau Heavy sur ce nouvel opus et là pas de déception c’est pile ce qu’on attends autant une réelle agressivité de la part de Corey que des parties vocales efficaces et un refrain en chant clair de la part de Chris. All That I’ve Ever Known ralentit un peu le rythme emprunté par le morceau précédent avec des sonorités électro prépondérantes, plus de mélodies et un très bon refrain ! Le passage Dubstep c’est une grosse surprise mais une excellente qui s’imbrique parfaitement ici. Un featuring très attendu de notre côté avec Anthony Martinez de Dark Divine sur le titre Blood Rave, on retrouve encore des claviers électro (ça commence à faire un peu trop mais après tout pourquoi pas?) malheureusement Anthony n’apporte pour ainsi dire…pas grand-chose au morceau à l’instar d’une Skylar Grey qui ne servait à rien sur R.I.P, ce featuring n’était pas vraiment utile ou alors sur un morceau plus agressif!
Love At First Bite avec son ambiance Gothique avec des sonorités Synth-Wave serait presque une ode à l’amour vampirique avec un refrain dansant plutôt agréable à l’écoute! Le solo de guitare se greffe plutôt bien à l’ensemble mais ce titre aurait mérité d’être plus développé tant il était intéressant. Count Back For Zero et Blood Pact suivent la ligne directrice du morceau précédent, les titres ont du potentiel mais pas assez exploité! On renoue avec un banger à savoir Afraid Of The Dark, avec des paroles qui prennent aux tripes, une rythmique dévastatrice et qui fait mouche en live et surtout un refrain profond sur lequel on s’égosille avec plaisir. C’est avec une cover de Corey Hart , Sunglasses At Night sorti dans les années 80 que va se clôturer l’album et on est directement plongés dans l’ambiance 80’s avec l’instrumental et la voix de Chris est parfaitement adaptée à ce titre hyper dansant et on en redemanderait presque!
Il y’a deux Bonus Tracks présentes également tels que Hollywood, un très bon titre avec des influences Indus presque sexy et Fight Like Hell (en featuring avec Outlier) déjà présent sur l’album!
En soit ce nouvel album de Motionless In White ne plaira pas à tout le monde et encore moins aux fans de la première heure, beaucoup de titres avec une ambiance Gothique ou des sonorités Indus ont un potentiel énorme qui auraient pu les ériger au rang de Bangers malheureusement ce n’est pas le cas et c’est bien dommage! Cet album manque également cruellement de morceaux Heavy à l’instar de Playing God ou Afraid Of The Dark. En soit un album très en demi-teinte qui aurait mérité bien plus…

[ENGLISH VERSION] Motionless In White released its new album, *Decades*, today (July 17, 2026) via Roadrunner Records. After three singles—one of which was a bit of a mixed bag—what does the band have in store for us next?
The title track, “Decades” kicks things off—and let’s just say that right from the intro, it’s pretty good, with some Slipknot-inspired elements. On its own, with its energetic rhythm section and Chris Motionless’s screamed vocals, it would be a pretty good start, but the track starts to feel repetitive—and it’s the breakdown introduced by “Still here, count the years, fuck a tombstone” that saves the day! Next up is “Log_in//crash_out” with slightly more electronic sounds and a devastating “Blegh!”—where the verses aim for a heavier sound, the chorus shifts to something more melodic and catchy, and once again, it doesn’t really work for us… and as for the cheerleader backing vocals, we’re not quite sure what they’re doing there… This track is a huge “What a shame” all on its own! The latest single, “R.I.P.” featuring Skylar Grey, is a ballad—and it’s a disaster… Tracks like “Masterpiece” “In Another Life” and others meant to please the groupies are enough—and here, once again, it’s a categorical and definitive no!
“This Is My Brutality” kicks off *Fight Like Hell*! Once again, we hear familiar sounds, but also a rather unexpected rap-style verse—in short, an energetic track that lifts the album back up after the cruel disappointment of “R.I.P.” (and the subtle references to our Mami, Rhea Ripley, are a godsend). The second guest appearance—and not just any guest—is Corey Taylor on “Playing God.” A Slipknot-style intro and a “Get The Fuck Up” from both vocalists immediately signal that we’re in for the first REAL heavy track on this new album—and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s exactly what we’re expecting: genuine aggression from Corey, powerful vocal parts, and a clean-vocal chorus from Chris. “All That I’ve Ever Known” slows down the pace set by the previous track a bit, with prominent electronic sounds, more melodies, and a great chorus! The dubstep section is a big surprise—but an excellent one that fits perfectly here. A highly anticipated collaboration from our end features Anthony Martinez of Dark Divine on the track “Blood Rave.” We hear more electronic keyboards again (it’s starting to get a bit much, but then again, why not?), but unfortunately, Anthony contributes virtually… much to the track—much like Skylar Grey, who was unnecessary on “R.I.P.”; this collaboration wasn’t really needed, or at least it would have worked better on a more aggressive track!
“Love At First Bite,” with its gothic vibe and synth-wave sounds, is almost an ode to vampiric love, featuring a danceable chorus that’s quite pleasant to listen to! The guitar solo fits in rather well with the overall sound, but this track deserved to be developed further given how interesting it was. “Count Back For Zero” and “Blood Pact” follow the same direction as the previous track; the songs have potential but don’t make the most of it! We’re back with another banger: “Afraid Of The Dark,” featuring gut-wrenching lyrics, a devastating rhythm section that really hits the mark live, and—above all—a powerful chorus that you’ll happily belt out at the top of your lungs. The album closes with a cover of Corey Hart’s “Sunglasses At Night,” originally released in the ’80s, and we’re immediately immersed in that ’80s vibe—the instrumental is spot-on, and Chris’s voice is perfectly suited to this ultra-danceable track; we’d almost ask for more!
There are also two bonus tracks: “Hollywood,” a great track with almost sexy industrial influences, and “Fight Like Hell” (featuring Outlier), which is already included on the album!
That said, this new Motionless In White album won’t appeal to everyone—and even less so to long-time fans. Many tracks with a gothic vibe or industrial sounds have enormous potential that could have elevated them to “banger” status; unfortunately, that’s not the case, and it’s a real shame! This album also sorely lacks heavy tracks like “Playing God” or “Afraid Of The Dark.” All in all, it’s a very mixed bag of an album that deserved so much more…
