[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Le sixième album de Mantar , Post Apocalyptic Depression , est disponible depuis le 14 février dernier via Metal Blade Records! Après avoir été enthousiasmés par les singles sortis pour la promotion de l’album, inutile de dire que les attentes sont grandes pour ce nouvel album qui serait une suite directe à leur album précédent Pain Is Forever And This Is The End sorti en 2022.
Les larsens et les « Check! Check » lancent le morceau Absolute Ghost, ambiance et partie vocales relativement malsaines et riffs archi gras sont la signature du duo allemand et attaquent directement dans le vif du sujet. Rex Perverso et ses influences plus Punk va rester dans les têtes pendant un moment tant le morceau est accrocheur et entêtant. La musique de Mantar fait parfois penser à ce qu’un groupe comme Kvelertak pourrait proposer mais avec une dimension plus sombre et plus malsaine tout comme le prouve Principle Of Command. Dogma Down sonne comme un morceau de Sludge presque festif mais Morbid Vocation va casser cette ambiance joyeuse pour nous ramener sur le chemin crasseux emprunté par le duo au début de cet album! Halsgericht semble quand à lui un peu plus inspiré par le mouvement Black Metal ou Black N Roll un style musique propre à des groupes comme Midnight quand à Pit Of Guilt le titre revient sur quelque chose de beaucoup plus accrocheur. Church Of Suck et Two Choices Of Eternity sont relativement similaires dans leurs constructions, c’est simple, efficace et brut! Axe Death Scenario propose des éléments se rapprochant du Noise avant que le dernier titre Cosmic Abortion ne vienne clôre le tout sur une rythmique entraînante et quelques éléments inattendus.
Ce nouvel album de Mantar réunit toutes les influences du groupe mais comporte également quelques fantaisies de la part du duo. Mais ici on sent bien l’énergie du live qui hante ce nouvel opus et il prendra définitivement vie en concert!

[ENGLISH VERSION] Mantar‘s sixth album, Post Apocalyptic Depression, has been available since 14 February via Metal Blade Records! Having been thrilled by the singles released to promote the album, needless to say expectations are high for this new album, which would be a direct follow-up to their previous album Pain Is Forever And This Is The End, released in 2022.
Larsen and ‘Check! Check’ kick off Absolute Ghost, the German duo’s signature ambience, relatively unhealthy vocals and big, fat riffs get straight to the heart of the matter. Rex Perverso, with its more punk influences, will stay in your head for a while as the track is so catchy and heady. Mantar‘s music is sometimes reminiscent of what a band like Kvelertak might offer, but with a darker, more unhealthy dimension, as Principle Of Command proves. Dogma Down sounds like an almost festive piece of sludge, but Morbid Vocation breaks the happy mood and takes us back to the grimy path taken by the duo at the start of the album! Halsgericht, meanwhile, seems a little more inspired by the Black Metal or Black N Roll movement, a musical style peculiar to bands like Midnight, while Pit Of Guilt returns to something much catchier. Church Of Suck and Two Choices Of Eternity are relatively similar in their construction, simple, effective and raw! Axe Death Scenario offers up some Noise-like elements before the final track, Cosmic Abortion, closes things out with a driving rhythm and a few unexpected elements.
This new album from Mantar brings together all the band’s influences, but also includes a few whimsical touches from the duo. But you can feel the live energy haunting this new opus, and it will definitely come to life live!
