[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Le groupe avant-gardiste New-Yorkais, Imperial Triumphant est de retour depuis quelques jours avec son sixième album. Intitulé Goldstar, il est disponible depuis le 21 mars dernier via Century Media Records. Chaque album du groupe est un voyage musical et pour avoir vue la formation sur scène, les membres du groupe le rendent encore plus immersif sur scène.
Le titre d’ouverture n’est autre que le single Eye Of Mars et il représente l’essence même de Imperial Triumphant c’est épique, grandiose mais aussi brutal. Le chant Black Metal de Zachary Ezrin également guitariste se pose sur des sonorités que ceux qui ne connaissent pas le groupe seront extrêmement surpris de découvrir mais ceux-là finiront tout de même hypnotisés par les morceaux du groupe. Gomorrah Nouveaux est le dernier extrait à avoir été dévoilé avant la sortie de l’album, on se laisse facilement emporter par la voix du vocaliste mais aussi par la rythmique assénée par Kenny Grohowski. On retrouve là encore des sonorités très originales qui devraient être du plus bel effet en live, les amateurs de musique et de styles variés devraient être comblés par ce genre de composition. Lexingtom Delirium accueille le premier guest de cet album en la personne de Tomas Haake du groupe Meshuggah, une voix féminine introduit le morceau avant qu’on ne retrouve la voix profonde de Zachary quand au guest présent il n’apporte peut-être pas grand-chose à l’ensemble si ce n’est plus de Blast sur ce premier morceau qui se rapproche vraiment du Metal Extrême même si encore une fois Imperial Triumphant arrive à surprendre. Ce morceau rend par ailleurs hommage à l’emblématique Chrysler Building. Hotel Sphinx pourrait parfaitement intégrer certains de ses passages à un film d’horreur mais les parties mélodiques finissent par gagner du terrain notamment sur le break qui parait très « enfantin ». NEWYORKCITY continue avec la valse des invités et cette fois-ci c’est Yoshiko Ohara du groupe de Funeral Doom Bloody Panda qui va venir poser sa voix sur un morceau très court (47 secondes) et apportera presque une énergie Punk (voir Grindcore) à la composition.
Le titre éponyme Goldstar est un interlude qui ressemble à un vieux Jingle Radio ou encore à un vieux générique de fin de film, on discerne nettement le crépitement d’un vinyle ce qui rajoute un charme rétro à l’ensemble avant Rot Moderne, un titre crasseux, avec un chant démoniaque avec des lignes de basse particulièrement majestueuse, nous ne pourrons d’ailleurs que saluer l’excellente prestation de Steve Blanco(bassiste) sur la totalité de Goldstar. Pleasuredome nous offre les bruits de la ville de New-York avec quelques sirènes mais également l’ajout de sons de cloches, on va retrouver ici Tomas Haake mais également la légende de Slayer, Dave Lombardo, également batteur pour ceux qui l’ignoreraient ! La session rythmique est ici particulièrement riche sur ce titre donc (avec notamment ce passage 100% percussions à partir de 03:07), ce qui en fait probablement la pièce maîtresse de ce nouvel opus. Industry Of Misery sera le dernier morceau pour Goldstar , cette dernière pièce musicale vient donc clôturer en beauté ce nouvel album avec son ambiance lourde et ses riffs tourbillonnants.
Goldstar est encore un bel album de Imperial Triumphant! Il est puissant, original , carré et concis, le groupe va à l’essentiel sans rien perdre ni de son identité ni de sa superbe. Et on a hâte de les retrouver sur scène avec Igorrr très bientôt.

[ENGLISH VERSION] New York avant-garde band Imperial Triumphant are back with their sixth album. Entitled Goldstar, it has been available since March 21 via Century Media Records. Each of the band’s albums is a musical journey, and having seen the band live, they make it even more immersive on stage.
The opening track is none other than the single Eye Of Mars, and it represents the very essence of Imperial Triumphant: epic, grandiose but also brutal. Guitarist Zachary Ezrin‘s black metal vocals are set to sounds that will come as a huge surprise to those unfamiliar with the band, but they will end up hypnotized by the band’s songs. Gomorrah Nouveaux is the last single to be unveiled before the album’s release, and it’s easy to get carried away by the vocalist’s voice and Kenny Grohowski‘s rhythm. Here again, we find highly original sonorities that should be of the greatest effect live, and fans of music and varied styles should be delighted by this kind of composition. Lexingtom Delirium features the album’s first guest, Tomas Haake from Meshuggah. A female vocal introduces the track, before Zachary‘s deep voice is heard again, while the guest’s contribution may not be much more than more Blast on the first track, which is very close to Extreme Metal, even if Imperial Triumphant once again manages to surprise. This track also pays tribute to the iconic Chrysler Building. Hotel Sphinx could perfectly integrate some of its passages into a horror film, but the melodic parts gain ground in the end, particularly on the break, which sounds very “childlike”. NEWYORKCITY continues with the guest waltz, and this time it’s Yoshiko Ohara from Funeral Doom band Bloody Panda who lends her voice to a very short track (47 seconds), almost bringing a Punk (or even Grindcore) energy to the composition.
The eponymous Goldstar is an interlude that resembles an old Jingle Radio or a film’s end credits, with the crackling sound of a vinyl clearly discernible, adding a retro charm to the whole before Rot Moderne, a filthy track with demonic vocals and particularly majestic bass lines. We can only salute the excellent performance of Steve Blanco (bassist) on the whole of Goldstar. Pleasuredome offers us the sounds of New York City, with a few sirens, but also the addition of bell sounds, featuring not only Tomas Haake, but also Slayer legend Dave Lombardo, also drummer for those who don’t know! The rhythmic session is particularly rich on this track (with this 100% percussion passage from 03:07 onwards), making it probably the masterpiece of this new opus. Industry Of Misery is Goldstar‘s final track, bringing the album to a fitting close with its heavy ambience and swirling riffs.
Goldstar is another fine album from Imperial Triumphant! Powerful, original, square and concise, the band gets straight to the point without losing any of their identity or their superb sound. And we can’t wait to see them live again with Igorrr very soon.
