Ignea – Monumental [FR/EN]

[ENGLISH BELOW]

[ENGLISH VERSION]

The Ukrainian band Ignea presents their new album, Monumental, available October 23, 2026, on Napalm Records.

Let’s dive into the world of this new album with Darkness, which reflects on past events with a great deal of nostalgia—a sentiment evident in the melody, which features rich orchestration and backing vocals to emphasize this aspect, as well as in Helle’s vocals, which focus on slow, clean singing. For the second track, Dreams Of Lands Unseen, the atmosphere shifts drastically to a much heavier metal style, evident in the riffs, rhythm, and vocals—which feature raw, guttural singing—perfect for illustrating the era of space exploration during the Cold War. It’s also a nod to their previous album of the same name. Presence Of The Past is an ode to urban decay and the experience of living in a place that’s constantly shifting, tinged with the melancholy of the past—and melodically, it’s powerful.

What Buildings Dreams Of is a ballad that speaks to the beauty, fragility, and inner silence of the buildings that surround our lives—both physically and metaphorically. A retrospective that prompts introspection. There’s a new shift in atmosphere with Prefab, which blends unapologetic electro sounds with metal and ventures slightly outside their usual territory by offering a very powerful brand of industrial metal, all accompanied by the Norwegian band Combichrist. The most unexpected moment on this album is I Am In Hell, which comes across as a retrofuturistic 1960s commercial, and Helle’s vocals only amplify this effect. Between No Longer And Not Yet captures a contemplative state of mind while listening to a vinyl record, with a 7-minute track of doom metal infused with dark jazz influences. When two rising stars come together, the result is Harmony Manufactured, featuring Britta Görtz (Hiraes), offering an intense vocal exchange that demonstrates how technical perfection can still convey powerful emotions, fading seamlessly into Nadir (Outro), which closes this chapter with an intense instrumental arrangement worthy of a movie soundtrack.

Ignea has just released their best album yet, filled with diverse styles without ever straying from their own sound; the collaborations are flawless in both composition and execution. An intense album, brimming with emotion and melancholy, that’s sure to tug at the heartstrings of many a fan.
