[ENGLISH BELOW]Le groupe de Thrash formé en 1985, Exhorder est de retour le 8 Mars 2024 avec Defectum Omnium leur quatrième album chez Nuclear Blast. Après une longue pause de 27 ans le groupe est revenu en 2017 puis 2024.
L’album commence par Wrath of Profecies qui attaque direct avec des riffs agressifs et enragés , le chant de Kyle Thomas est tiraillant, c’est un morceau assez puissant pour bien commencer l’album. Under the gaslight est plus Heavy que son prédécesseur, on y retrouve un coté old school c’est assez plaisant à contrario du morceau suivant Forever and beyond despair qui a clairement des influences plus punk, le tempo est plus lent également.
The tale of unsound minds poursuit très bien cet album avec des tonalités lentes et lourdes avec des riffs aigus jusqu’à un solo rapide et intense très bien exécuté. Le groupe à été aidé par Rick Wartell et Bruce Franklin (Trouble).
Divide and Conquer est le morceau le plus court de l’album mais très efficace avec son mélange de bon riffs.
Vient ensuite Year of the Goat qui est le premier single à être sorti, il laisse place à une introduction sombre qui s’accélère rapidement avec des passages plus temporisés et saccadés.
L’inquiétant Taken by the flames commence lentement avent de finir dans un tourbillon de riffs suaves et brutaux. Defectum Omnium/Stolen hope est la plus longue de l’album, un début de choeurs fait l’introduction du morceau avant de laisser places à des riffs endiablés, l’influence doom est assez présente pour moi dans ce morceau.
Three stages of truth/Lacing the well commence avec une intro acoustique sombre avant de tomber dans la violence du Thrash Old-School à l’inverse du morceau d’après Sedition est un retour aux influences punk du groupe.
Desensitized est un morceau agressif et enragé du pur Thrash avec un chant tiraillant et intense.
Your six clôt l’album avec un bon mélange de riffs puissants et oppressants.
Exhorder nous prouve sa puissance et sa place en tant que groupe Thrash Old-School.
c’est un bon album qui varie les sonorités accrocheuses.

[ENGLISH VERSION] The Thrash band formed in 1985, Exhorder is back on March 8, 2024 with Defectum Omnium, their fourth album on Nuclear Blast.
After a long break of 27 years the group returned in 2017 then 2024.
The album begins with Wrath of Profecies which attacks directly with aggressive and furious riffs, Kyle Thomas‘ vocals are pulling, it’s a powerful enough track to start the album well.
Under the gaslight is heavier than its predecessor, we find an old school side, it’s quite pleasant unlike the following track Forever and beyond despair which clearly has more punk influences, the tempo is also slower.
The tale of unsound minds continues this album very well with slow and heavy tones with high riffs leading to a fast and intense solo very well executed.
the group was helped by Rick Wartell and Bruce Franklin (Trouble).
Divide and Conquer is the shortest song on the album but very effective with its mix of good riffs.
Then comes Year of the Goat which is the first single to be released, it gives way to a dark introduction which quickly accelerates with more timed and jerky passages.
The disturbing Taken by the Flames begins slowly before ending in a whirlwind of smooth and brutal riffs.
Defectum Omnium- Stolen hope is the longest of the album, a start of choirs introduces the song before giving way to wild riffs, the doom influence is quite present for me in this song.
Three stages of truth-Lacing the well begins with a dark acoustic intro before falling into the violence of old school thrash unlike the piece after Sedition is a return to the group’s punk influences.
Desensitized is an aggressive and angry piece of pure thrash with tugging and intense vocals.
Your six closed the album with a good mix of powerful and oppressive riffs.
Exhorder proves us its power and its place as an old school thrash band. It’s a good album which varies the catchy sounds.
