[English version below] Originaire d’Austin, au Texas, Colorblind s’est progressivement fait une place dans la scène rock et metalcore américaine. Formé en 2017, le quatuor composé de Travis Moseley (chant), Tyler Moseley (batterie), Nicholas Asper (basse) et Justin Page (guitare) a choisi de tracer sa propre route avec un style qu’il définit comme « dreamcore ». Après plusieurs singles remarqués et plus de 30 millions de streams cumulés, le groupe dévoile le 28 août 2026 son premier album, Who Sold You This Truth ++ Was It Yours To Hold, chez Solid State.
Dès Pressure, Colorblind entre directement dans le vif du sujet avec un titre court, très électronique et particulièrement catchy. Les synthétiseurs sont omniprésents et la voix de Travis Moseley, très travaillée, donne immédiatement cette impression aérienne qui caractérise le groupe. Car Crash poursuit dans cette direction avec davantage de textures ambiantes et de samples pop, tandis que Needle Eye ralentit légèrement le rythme pour proposer quelque chose de plus émotionnel. Les guitares et la batterie y sont davantage mises en avant, permettant au groupe de conserver un ancrage rock malgré une production très moderne.
Cette alternance entre puissance, atmosphère et mélodie constitue finalement toute l’identité de Colorblind. Le terme « dreamcore » prend ici tout son sens : les guitares lourdes côtoient naturellement les nappes électroniques et les refrains très pop. Chemical Warfare fait partie des morceaux qui retiennent particulièrement l’attention grâce à une instrumentation plus énergique. Letdown, déjà présent sur l’EP Who Sold You This Truth de 2025, propose quant à lui un refrain particulièrement fédérateur et un petit breakdown qui devrait faire son effet en concert.Le groupe pousse encore davantage vers le metalcore avec Misery Loves Company. La voix de Travis y est plus variée, tandis que les effets glitch et les instruments saturés donnent au morceau une vraie puissance.
La seconde partie de l’album poursuit cette dynamique avec Royal Blood, plus nerveux et entraînant, puis Neversleep, qui résume parfaitement la recette Colorblind : une belle voix, une production extrêmement soignée et une musique capable de naviguer entre rock, pop et metalcore. God Complex se démarque également grâce à un chant plus rocailleux et un refrain plus nerveux. Une approche légèrement moins lisse qui apporte beaucoup de caractère.
Plusieurs titres de l’album étaient déjà connus, notamment Car Crash, Neversleep et Letdown. Cela réduit forcément un peu l’effet de découverte, mais permet aussi de constater la cohérence du projet. Car c’est probablement la principale force de Colorblind : on reconnaît immédiatement leur son. Les productions sont propres, les atmosphères travaillées et les mélodies particulièrement efficaces. The Countdown, Lost in Translation ou encore Heavy Heart prolongent cette esthétique avant que Cynical, accompagné notamment de piano, ne vienne conclure l’album dans la douceur. Cette grande cohérence peut toutefois donner une impression de répétition après plusieurs morceaux. Mais pour peu que l’on apprécie le dreamcore, difficile de ne pas se laisser embarquer.
Avec Who Sold You This Truth ++ Was It Yours To Hold, Colorblind ne cherche pas à révolutionner le post-hardcore. Le groupe fait quelque chose de plus intéressant : il construit son propre univers, à la croisée du rock alternatif, de la pop, de l’électronique et du metal. L’album est moderne, mélodique, extrêmement bien produit et possède une vraie identité. Quelques morceaux plus lourds comme Chemical Warfare, Misery Loves Company ou God Complex apportent suffisamment de relief pour compléter les passages les plus atmosphériques. Une première réussite pour un groupe qui semble avoir encore beaucoup à offrir.

With « Pressure, » Colorblind dives straight into the action via a short, highly electronic, and particularly catchy track. Synthesizers are omnipresent, and Travis Moseley’s polished vocals immediately evoke the ethereal quality that defines the band. « Car Crash » continues in this vein with richer ambient textures and pop samples, while « Needle Eye » slows the tempo slightly to deliver a more emotional sound. Guitars and drums take a more prominent role here, allowing the band to maintain its rock roots despite the ultra-modern production.
This interplay between power, atmosphere, and melody lies at the very heart of Colorblind’s identity. The term « dreamcore » truly comes into its own here: heavy guitars sit naturally alongside electronic soundscapes and distinctly pop-oriented choruses. « Chemical Warfare » is a standout track, commanding attention with its more energetic instrumentation. « Letdown« —previously featured on the 2025 EP *Who Sold You This Truth*—offers a rousing, crowd-pleasing chorus and a brief breakdown that is sure to make an impact live. The band leans further into metalcore territory with « Misery Loves Company« ; Travis’s vocal delivery is more varied, while glitch effects and distorted instrumentation lend the track genuine power. The second half of the album maintains this momentum with « Royal Blood« —which is punchier and more driving—followed by « Neversleep, » a track that perfectly encapsulates the Colorblind formula: beautiful vocals, meticulous production, and music that seamlessly navigates between rock, pop, and metalcore. « God Complex » also stands out, featuring grittier vocals and a more aggressive chorus—a slightly less polished approach that adds a great deal of character.
Several tracks on the album—notably « Car Crash, » « Neversleep, » and « Letdown »—were already familiar. While this inevitably diminishes the element of surprise, it also highlights the project’s cohesion. Indeed, that is arguably Colorblind’s greatest strength: their sound is instantly recognizable. The production is crisp, the atmospheres are carefully crafted, and the melodies are highly effective. Tracks like « The Countdown, » « Lost in Translation, » and « Heavy Heart » extend this aesthetic before « Cynical »—featuring piano accompaniment—brings the album to a gentle close. However, this strong consistency can create a sense of repetition after a few songs. Yet, for anyone who enjoys the « dreamcore » sound, it is hard not to get drawn in.
With *Who Sold You This Truth ++ Was It Yours To Hold*, Colorblind isn’t trying to revolutionize post-hardcore. Instead, the band does something more interesting: they build their own universe, sitting at the intersection of alternative rock, pop, electronic music, and metal. The album is modern, melodic, and impeccably produced, possessing a distinct identity. Heavier tracks like « Chemical Warfare, » « Misery Loves Company, » and « God Complex » provide enough dynamic contrast to balance out the more atmospheric moments. It is a successful debut for a band that seems to have plenty more to offer.
