[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Ils l’avaient pas dit mais ça nous semblait logique “They’ll be back”! Et en effet Coffin Feeder sont de retour avec leur tout premier album Big Trouble sorti il y a quelques jours via Listenable Records. Dans ce projet toujours très intelligent, on retrouve des membres de Aborted (Coucou Sven), Leng’Tche , Fleddy Melculy ou encore When Plagues Collide, que du beau monde donc !
Si vous êtes également amateurs de cinéma, n’hésitez pas à jeter un œil à la pochette de l’album de nombreuses références s’y cachent tout comme Gizmo des Gremlins ou encore un Commando qui semble avoir ravagé le bureau ovale.
L’intro There will be Trouble très Post-Apo 80’ conduit directement à Porkchop Express, un featuring avec notre bien-aimé Julien Truchan (Benighted). Est-ce une référence à un titre de John Carpenter pour le film Big Trouble In Little China? Le doute est permis ! Les deux vocalistes s’en donnent à cœur joie, c’est gras, lourd et pesant tandis que le batteur mitraille comme si sa vie en dépendait et les riffs de guitares se transforment eux aussi en armes de destruction massive. Bref ça donne déjà furieusement envie de voir les têtes se décrocher des corps en pleine séance de headbang ou de donner des gnons à son voisin (à vous de choisir). Second feat cette fois-ci avec Ben Duerr de Shadow Of Intent sur If It Bleeds. Un morceau groovy as fuck qui donnerait envie de faire des ravages sur un dance-floor démoniaque avec des breaks judicieusement placés qui retourneront le cerveau de tout un chacun !
The Destroyer nous fait retrouver tout les éléments qu’on aime dans ce genre musical ultra violent avec la voix de Sven qui se distingue particulièrement à chaque fois ce qui fait de lui un des meilleurs vocaliste de cette scène depuis bien longtemps, son chant va s’incruster dans chaque partie de votre âme et même avec Vanish, on a essayé ça ne part pas des masses ! Plain Zero est le dernier featuring sur cet opus et on y retrouve Mark Hunter de Chimaira (qui a décidément le vent en poupe ces derniers temps). Là encore on peut se demander où Mark commence et où Sven finit dans leurs voix ne semblent en faire qu’une au final !
Obey a des relents de nostalgie mais avec une intensité et un groove qui vont tout ravager sur leur passage. Remballez les cosplays vintage, Coffin Feeder est là pour enfoncer les portes. Place à la fête avec Get To The Party très adapté pour les mosh-pit avec ses relents de Hardcore putride. H.I.S.S pourrait être considéré comme un court interlude avec des références à G.I Joe notamment le final “You can call me Commander”. The Wrong Arm Of The Law est le dernier uppercut de Big Trouble (et sera-t-il une référence au film de 1963 du même nom?) avec un break plus Heavy Metal ce dernier titre montre que Coffin Feeder en a encore dans le ventre mais également que la bête possède de nombreuses influences.
En bref Coffin Feeder c’est : gras, lourd , violent, vintage et intelligent. Tout ce qu’on aime retrouver dans ce genre de projets et inutile de dire que notre envie de voir ENFIN le groupe sur scène n’est qu’un euphémisme avec ce nouvel opus !

And indeed Coffin Feeder are back with their debut album Big Trouble, released a few days ago via Listenable Records. The ever-intelligent project features members of Aborted (hello Sven), Leng’Tche , Fleddy Melculy and When Plagues Collide, so it’s a great line-up!
If you’re also a fan of the cinema, don’t hesitate to take a look at the album cover – it’s full of references, including Gizmo from Gremlins and a Commando who seems to have ravaged the Oval Office.
The very Post-Apo 80′ intro There will be Trouble leads straight into Porkchop Express, featuring our beloved Julien Truchan (Benighted). Is this a reference to a John Carpenter track from the film Big Trouble In Little China? Doubtful! The two vocalists give it their all, it’s fat, heavy and heavy, while the drummer blasts away as if his life depended on it, and the guitar riffs turn into weapons of mass destruction. In short, it’s enough to make you want to see heads falling from bodies as you headbang, or to give your neighbour a hard time (the choice is yours). Second feat this time with Ben Duerr from Shadow Of Intent on If It Bleeds. A groovy as fuck track that would make you want to wreak havoc on a demonic dance-floor, with judiciously placed breaks that will turn anyone’s brain upside down!
The Destroyer brings together all the elements we love about this ultra-violent musical genre, with Sven‘s voice standing out every time, making him one of the best vocalists on this scene in a long time. His vocals will get into every part of your soul, and even with Vanish, we’ve tried, it doesn’t go away! Plain Zero is the final featuring on this opus, and features Mark Hunter from Chimaira (who’s definitely on a roll these days). Once again, you have to wonder where Mark starts and Sven ends, as their voices seem to be one and the same in the end!
Obey has a hint of nostalgia about it, but with an intensity and a groove that will ravage everything in their path. Pack up your vintage cosplays, Coffin Feeder are here to break down the doors. Then it’s time to party with Get To The Party, a mosh-pit favourite with a whiff of putrid hardcore. The Wrong Arm Of The Law is Big Trouble’s final uppercut (and will it be a reference to the 1963 film of the same name?) with a more heavy metal break, this last track shows that Coffin Feeder still has plenty left in the tank, but also that the beast has many influences.
In short, Coffin Feeder is fat, heavy, violent, vintage and intelligent. Everything we love about this kind of project, and needless to say, our desire to FINALLY see the band live is nothing short of an understatement with this new opus!
