[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Les australiens de Airbourne sont actuellement en tournée en France dans des salles toutes complètes pour l’occasion et c’est avec bonheur qu’on a pu assister à leur date à Bordeaux dans la superbe salle du Rocher De Palmer. A peine arrivés sur place, c’est déjà l’effervescence autant dans la salle qui se remplit gentiment qu’aux bars qui eux ne désemplissent pas en attendant l’arrivée du premier groupe sur scène. Merci à Aude de AEG France pour l’accréditation et au Rocher pour son accueil chaleureux.
C’est à 20h30 que le groupe de Hard Rock anglais, Asomvel monte sur scène. Comme pour beaucoup de monde présent ce soir, le groupe est une totale découverte. Un peu d’histoire donc, Asomvel est à l’origine un trio fondé en 1993 mais le groupe attendra presque 10 ans pour sortir sa première démo en 2002 et en 2024 le groupe a sorti son quatrième album studio. Du line-up d’origine il ne reste que Lenny Robinson officiant à la guitare mais Asomvel a également connu une tragédie en 2010 lorsque leur bassiste/chanteur Jay Jay Winter décède. Mais revenons à la prestation scénique et à l’actuel line-up mené de façon énergique par Ralph Robinson que certains compareront aisément à Lemmy Kilmister autant dans son jeu de scène que dans ses mimiques, la Légende Lemmy et ses quatre comparses semble être une grande inspiration pour les quatre musiciens et ça se ressent même jusque dans leurs compositions jouées à plein régime, on découvre donc un pseudo-Motörhead qui tient quand même sa barque d’une belle manière et mets assurément le feu. Ralph fera également un petit passage dans les premiers rangs avant de remercier chaleureusement le public pour son accueil. On pourra retrouver le groupe à leur stand de merch à la fin de la soirée et aux vues des nombreuses personnes repartant avec leur vinyle sous le bras, ils ont ce soir conquis les cœurs de nombreux présents!
L’ambiance commence à être de plus en plus surchauffée dans la salle pendant que l’équipe de Airbourne finit d’installer la scène des musiciens. On note un petit Run To The Hills repris en choeur par le public et de nombreux sourires sur les visages avant l’extinction des feux sur laquelle va résonner l’intro de Terminator 2, les musiciens arrivent en trombe et gonflés à bloc pour commencer Ready To Rock! Le public va répondre au quart de tour, les premiers crowd-surfers se font déjà voir et Joël O’Keefe balance gobelets/bouteille d’eau avant de se placer derrière son micro pour entonner les premières paroles. Evidemment un classique en cache un autre et c’est avec Too Much, Too Young , Too Fast que Airbourne va continuer de mettre littéralement le feu au Rocher. Le leader prendra un petit bain de foule sur les épaules d’un agent de sécurité pendant le solo de Girls In Black qu’il finira en slam avant de regagner la scène, le bougre a de l’énergie à revendre et ça fait vraiment du bien d’assister à ce genre de show! Joël profitera des pauses entre chaque morceaux pour clamer son amour de la France avec le vin et le fromage ou encore ses « Vive la France ». Sur It’s All For Rock’N’Roll, le Lemmy Bar fera son apparition, le chanteur/guitariste faisant ses petites pintes de Coca/Jack Da avant de les tendre à ses musiciens quitte tout à leur sérieux ne boiront qu’une gorgée dans les verres avant de les tendre à des personnes du public.
Le leader fera également partager un de ses solos à l’Espace PMR de la salle en sortant de scène pour tout simplement aller l’interpréter sur la barrière devant les fans présents. Un moment de partage à la fin duquel le musicien donnera de nombreux médiators. Le rappel se fera sur Live It Up, Rock’N’Roll For Live et Runnin’ Wild qui finiront d’achever le public.
Airbourne a ce soir donné un grand show plein d’énergie et de Rock comme on les aiment! A voir et à revoir sans modération (vu que de toute façon il se pointe jamais en soirée celui-ci)!
[ENGLISH VERSION] Australia’s Airbourne are currently on tour in France, playing to full houses for the occasion, and we were delighted to be able to attend their Bordeaux date at the superb Rocher De Palmer venue. As soon as we got there, it was already buzzing with excitement, both in the hall, which was filling up nicely, and in the bars, which were not letting up as we waited for the first band to take to the stage. Thanks to Aude from AEG France for the accreditation and to Le Rocher for its warm welcome.
At 8:30 p.m., English hard rock band Asomvel took to the stage. As was the case for many of those present this evening, the band was a complete discovery. Originally a trio founded in 1993, Asomvel waited almost 10 years before releasing their first demo in 2002, and in 2024 the band released their fourth studio album. Of the original line-up only guitarist Lenny Robinson remains, but Asomvel also suffered a tragedy in 2010 when bassist/vocalist Jay Jay Winter passed away. But let’s get back to the live show and the current line-up, energetically led by Ralph Robinson, who some will easily compare to Lemmy Kilmister in both his stage presence and his facial expressions. The legend Lemmy and his four companions seem to be a great inspiration for the four musicians, and this can even be felt in their compositions, which are played at full throttle. Ralph will also make a short appearance in the front rows, before thanking the audience warmly for their welcome. The band can be found at their merch stand at the end of the evening, and judging by the number of people leaving with their vinyl under their arm, they’ve won the hearts of many present this evening!
The atmosphere in the room starts to get more and more overheated as the Airbourne team finish setting up the musicians’ stage. The crowd sing along to Run To The Hills, and there are plenty of smiles on everyone’s faces, before the lights go out and the intro to Terminator 2 rings out. The musicians arrive in full force, pumped up to start Ready To Rock! The crowd responds immediately, and the first crowd-surfers are already in evidence, as Joel O’Keefe tosses out cups and bottles of water before stepping behind his microphone to start the first lyrics. Obviously, one classic hides another, and it’s with Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast that Airbourne continue to literally set the Rocher on fire. The band’s frontman takes a dip in the crowd on the shoulders of a security guard during the Girls In Black solo, which he finishes in a slam before returning to the stage. The man’s got energy to spare, and it’s really good to see this kind of show! Joël takes advantage of the breaks between songs to proclaim his love of France, with its wine and cheese and his “Vive la France”. On It’s All For Rock’N’Roll, the Lemmy Bar makes an appearance, the singer/guitarist making his little pints of Coke/Jack Da before handing them to his musicians, who in all seriousness take only a sip from the glasses before handing them to people in the audience.
The leader will also share one of his solos with the venue’s PMR area, as he leaves the stage to simply perform it on the barrier in front of the fans present. A moment of sharing at the end of which the musician will give away numerous picks. The encore included Live It Up, Rock’N’Roll For Live and Runnin’ Wild, all of which finished off the set.
Airbourne put on a great show tonight, full of the energy and rock we’ve come to love! To be seen again and again without moderation (since this one never shows up at parties anyway)!
