Bury Tomorrow nous propose son tout nouvel album, Will you haunt me, with the same patience, qui fait suite à The Seventh Sun (2023). L’album a été produit par Carl Bown (Sleep Token, While She Sleeps) et est disponible depuis le 16 mai via Music For Nations/Sony Music.
L’album débute avec To Dream, To Forget, qui rentre directement dans le cœur du sujet avec le chant clair. L’ambiance est directement plus calme et intime, jusqu’à l’ajout de diverses sonorités qui donnent de la vitesse. Le chant de Dani arrive, de manière brève mais efficace car il lance véritablement le titre. Le chant prend son temps mais donne une impulsion violente, comme on aime retrouver avec Bury Tomorrow. Tout s’arrête pour laisser place au refrain en chant clair, une véritable explosion et les deux chants viennent s’entremêler. On découvre un chant presque parlé, qui pose les choses et permet de mieux repartir par la suite, complété par un solo de guitare aérien. Un premier morceau très complet, qui nous plonge pleinement dans ce nouvel album. Villain Arc est l’un des titres que le groupe avait déjà partagé avant la sortie de l’album. L’introduction est un peu dérangeante, elle s’étend et les instruments arrivent doucement mais apportent une certaine lourdeur. L’ensemble est accompagné d’un chant assez grave et profond. Cette ambiance est de courte durée car on retrouve vite les sonorités habituelles du groupe et son côté plus positif. Le titre va jouer, en alternance, avec ces deux idées et cela donne un bon rythme à l’ensemble. Il met également en avant la belle prouesse vocale de Dani, le chant clair de Tom. Arrive le tour de Wasteland, qui est l’un de mes titres préférés. La batterie donne le ton directement et le chant à un petit côté King 810 que j’apprécie fortement. Les choses évoluent, on y ajoute des éléments et l’ensemble monte en puissance. L’instrumentalité nous propose quelque chose de dynamique, renforcé par le chant féroce de Dani et alterne avec des passages rappelant l’introduction. Cette alternance permet d’introduire le chant clair, qui captive dès les premières secondes et rentre facilement en tête. Ce titre regroupe tout ce que j’aime chez les anglais, avec un refrain vu comme une véritable force, une dernière partie qui change radicalement et un passage électro qui se crée une belle place.

What If I Burn débute sur quelque chose d’assez flottant, avant de doucement monter accompagné par plusieurs chœurs. L’ensemble se calme et met en avant le chant de Dani, captivant et touchant. Le chant clair vient relever la chose, la portant et donne un côté plus aérien. En totale opposition avec des passages composés de scream et growl en tout genre, toujours aussi efficaces. On joue avec les rythmes, sur les pauses et le chant clair va même s’énerver un peu. Un morceau, une nouvelle fois, très complet et incroyable, clôturant avec des notes plus douces. L’introduction de Forever The Night monte en puissance et éclate avec le chant clair. L’ensemble est dynamique et nous met dans le ton directement. On trouve de nombreux changements au niveau du rythme, créant des ambiances différentes, mettant en avant des chœurs très efficaces. Le chant de Dani vient renforcer le tout, mais il est moins agressif que les titres précédents. Le refrain est toujours aussi doux et éclatant, permettant d’approfondir la vitesse qui suis. Un titre avec différents types de chant et des passages qui se construisent autour. Waiting débute avec des sonorités assez étrange et c’est un blegh bien sympathique qui lance le tout. Un morceau qui se veut beaucoup plus rapide et surtout agressif que le début de l’album. Le chant clair semble assez éteint et cela renforce cette ambiance. Un titre qui va certainement faire très mal en live. On nous surprend avec un changement radical où j’apprécie particulièrement la dynamique jouant sur plusieurs sonorités et plusieurs niveaux. L’ajout, sur la fin, de notes électro est toujours aussi bien exploité et permet de conclure un titre violent !
Silence Isn’t Helping Us débute avec quelque chose d’assez atmosphérique où les instruments s’ajoutent doucement. On retrouve les notes électro et cela ouvre au chant clair qui semble assez loin et même un peu timide. La batterie prend de plus en plus de place et le chant s’appuie dessus et semble presque nous sauter dessus. Le titre se dévoile totalement et un chant plus énervé vient prendre le relais sur de courts passages, donnant une nouvelle impulsion à l’ensemble. Un morceau avec une construction différente mais que j’apprécie. Found No Throne est un titre qui m’a marqué dès ma première écoute et qui m’a fait penser à Majesty (The Seventh Sun – 2023). Le titre ouvre tout en douceur avec une guitare et j’adore ce genre d’introduction. Le chant vient s’ajouter, créant une bulle et une ambiance plus intime, se différenciant totalement de ce que le groupe nous a présenté dans cet album. Un vrai bijou se cache ici et on se prend très vite au jeu, se laissant porter. Yōkai (妖怪) change radicalement avec la batterie qui ouvre et crée une ambiance plus forte et plus lourde. Le chant est assez étrange, on ne comprend pas vraiment tout et l’univers semble même changer, passant sur plusieurs niveaux différents. C’est le chant clair qui apporte un peu de douceur mais aussi de lumière. Un morceau assez changeant, assez brut et qui va surement faire très mal en live. Il crée aussi une belle dualité et des moments plus complets et profonds, mélangeant les chants. L’instrumentalité est très lourde et rentre dedans mais surtout avec un breakdown incroyable pour clôturer.

Let Go nous transporte dans quelque chose d’assez flottant avant de passer à quelque chose de plus rapide et où le chant clair est mis en avant. Les instruments arrivent et appuient le tout, lançant le morceau. On découvre quelques scream dans le fond, assez discret. Nouveau changement avec des sonorités nouvelles et des passages rapides où chacun est mis en avant. J’apprécie le refrain, puissant et qui va jusqu’à nous donner des frissons, mélangeant les deux chants. Le chant de Dani semble se libérer et le morceau nous offre de belles choses. Paradox ouvre sur des passages instrumentaux captivants, on se laisse emporter. Le chant clair semble un peu différent ici mais il touche toujours nos sentiments. Ce titre est le plus long de l’album et on prend notre temps pour finir notre écoute en beauté. Il est aussi plus complexe mais toujours aussi prenant et complet. Le refrain en clair étincelle, il apporte de la douceur et une belle profondeur. On a quelques passages avec un chant féminin que j’affectionne particulièrement. Une très belle façon de clôturer cette aventure musicale.
Will you haunt me, with that same patience est un album que j’ai fortement apprécié. Bury Tomorrow prend de nouvelles décisions musicales, agrémentant leur univers et cherchant à pousser toujours plus loin, tout en conservant ce qui fait leur identité.

Bury Tomorrow releases their brand new album, Will you haunt me, with the same patience, which follows 2023’s The Seventh Sun. The album was produced by Carl Bown (Sleep Token, While She Sleeps) and is available from May 16 via Music For Nations/Sony Music.
The album begins with To Dream, To Forget, which gets straight to the heart of the matter with clean vocals. The atmosphere is immediately calmer and more intimate, until the addition of various sounds that give it speed. Dani’s vocals arrive, briefly but effectively because they really launch the song. The vocals take their time but give a violent impulse, as we like to find with Bury Tomorrow. Everything stops to make way for the chorus in clean vocals, a real explosion and the two songs intertwine. We discover an almost spoken vocal, which sets things up and allows us to start again better afterwards, completed by an airy guitar solo. A very complete first track, which fully immerses us in this new album. Villain Arc is one of the tracks that the band had already shared before the album’s release. The introduction is a little disturbing, it stretches out and the instruments arrive slowly but bring a certain heaviness. The whole is accompanied by a rather serious and deep vocal. This atmosphere is short-lived because we quickly find the usual sounds of the group and its more positive side. The title will play, alternately, with these two ideas and this gives a good rhythm to the whole. It also highlights the beautiful vocal prowess of Dani, the clean singing of Tom. It is the turn of Wasteland, which is one of my favorite songs. The drums set the tone directly and the singing has a little King 810 side that I really appreciate. Things evolve, we add elements and the whole thing builds in power. The instrumentality offers us something dynamic, reinforced by the ferocious singing of Dani and alternates with passages reminiscent of the introduction. This alternation allows to introduce the clean singing, which captivates from the first seconds and easily gets into your head. This title brings together everything I like about the English, with a chorus seen as a real strength, a last part that changes radically and an electro passage that creates a beautiful place.

What If I Burn begins with something quite floating, before gently rising accompanied by several choirs. The whole thing calms down and highlights Dani’s singing, captivating and touching. The clean vocals come to elevate the thing, carrying it and giving a more airy side. In total contrast with passages composed of screams and growls of all kinds, always so effective. We play with the rhythms, on the breaks and the clean vocals will even get a little angry. A song, once again, very complete and incredible, closing with softer notes. The introduction of Forever The Night increases in power and bursts with the clean vocals. The whole is dynamic and puts us in the mood directly. There are many changes in rhythm, creating different atmospheres, highlighting very effective choirs. Dani’s singing reinforces everything, but it is less aggressive than the previous tracks. The chorus is still as soft and bright, allowing to deepen the speed that follows. A track with different types of vocals and passages that build around it. Waiting begins with rather strange sounds and it’s a very nice blegh that kicks it all off. A track that’s much faster and especially aggressive than the beginning of the album. The clean vocals seem quite muted and this reinforces this atmosphere. A track that will certainly be very painful live. We are surprised with a radical change where I particularly appreciate the dynamics playing on several sounds and several levels. The addition, at the end, of electro notes is still as well used and allows to conclude a violent track!
Silence Isn’t Helping Us begins with something quite atmospheric where the instruments are added gently. We find the electro notes and this opens to the clean vocals which seem quite distant and even a little timid. The drums take more and more space and the vocals lean on them and almost seem to jump out at us. The title reveals itself completely and a more angry vocal comes to take over on short passages, giving a new impulse to the whole. A song with a different construction but one that I appreciate. Found No Throne is a title that struck me from my first listen and that made me think of Majesty (The Seventh Sun – 2023). The title opens very gently with a guitar and I love this kind of introduction. The vocals are added, creating a bubble and a more intimate atmosphere, totally different from what the group presented to us in this album. A real gem is hidden here and we quickly get caught up in the game, letting ourselves be carried away. Yōkai (妖怪) changes radically with the drums that open and create a stronger and heavier atmosphere. The vocals are quite strange, we don’t really understand everything and the universe even seems to change, passing on several different levels. It is the clear vocals that bring a little softness but also light. A rather changing piece, quite raw and which will surely hurt a lot live. It also creates a beautiful duality and more complete and deeper moments, mixing the vocals. The instrumentality is very heavy and gets into it but especially with an incredible breakdown to close.

Let Go takes us into something quite floating before moving on to something faster and where the clean vocals are highlighted. The instruments arrive and support everything, launching the song. We discover some screams in the background, quite discreet. New change with new sounds and fast passages where each one is highlighted. I appreciate the chorus, powerful and which even gives us chills, mixing the two songs. Dani’s singing seems to free itself and the song offers us beautiful things. Paradox opens with captivating instrumental passages, we let ourselves be carried away. The clean vocals seem a little different here but they still touch our feelings. This track is the longest on the album and we take our time to finish our listening in style. It is also more complex but still as captivating and complete. The clean chorus sparkles, it brings softness and a beautiful depth. We have a few passages with female vocals that I particularly like. A very beautiful way to close this musical adventure.
Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience is an album I thoroughly enjoyed. Bury Tomorrow is making new musical decisions, enriching their universe and seeking to push themselves ever further, while maintaining their core identity.
