[ENGLISH BELOW] Le groupe australien Ghostseeker nous présente son premier album intitulé Divergence, disponible à partir du 25 avril 2025 par le label Reigning Phoenix Music. Ce nouveau groupe est composé de Tim Campey et Cory Wakleden aux guitares, Celeste Bojczuk et Daniel Breen aux chants, et de Daniel Gay à la batterie.
En ce début d’album les choses vont très vite afin de mieux capter l’attention de l’auditeur. C’est là qu’Internment rentre en scène avec un aplomb impressionnant notamment avec le chant guttural qui arrive d’un coup sur une mélodie électro puis le chant vient surprendre par sa simplicité et sa douceur. Après une telle chanson difficile de faire mieux mais c’est sans compter sur The Looking Glass qui vient accentuer ce côté Metal Electro moderne avec un refrain catchy. En parlant du côté catchy Metempsychoses se positionne comme un petit rappel au passé avec une mélodie rythmique similaire à une chanson des années 80 de Mike Oldfield & Maggie Reilly, Moonlight Shadow.
Au tour de Wake Up (Imposter) de montrer ce qu’elle vaut et là encore ce sont des couplets aux riffs lourds et au chant bien énervé afin d’avoir une puissance au plus haut mais qui finit par s’adoucir un peu avec les refrains, mais attention au break qui va tout exploser. Puis Cursed Till The End vient contre balancer tout avec une touche de piano qui attire toute notre attention mais reste quand même très brute. Et ça repart dans la contre balance avec Glow In Decay qui présente une mélodie plus douce et beaucoup moins énergique malgré la frénésie des instruments. Il y a aussi beaucoup plus de chant clair qu’auparavant. J’attendais le moment du morceau mélancolique à 100% depuis le début et c’est Dissension qui mérite le label chanson mélancolique de l’album.
La révolution est en marche avec A Reverie In Atonement qui reste relativement courte comparée aux autres chansons. Une ballade de Metal Moderne simple et efficace. Tout l’inverse de Beta War qui me donne l’impression d’une battle de guitares dès l’introduction et cela ne va pas s’estomper au fil du temps. Il est malheureusement venu le temps du dernier titre. The Prototype prend son rôle de conclusion de ce chapitre avec beaucoup de sérieux puisqu’il ne nous déçoit pas une seule seconde.
Ghostseeker nous offre un album de Metal Moderne avec d’ors et déjà une empreinte unique. Le mélange de Metalcore et d’Électro est subtil et mesuré pour donner lieu à un album incroyable. J’ai personnellement accroché du début jusqu’à la fin sans m’être ennuyée une seule seconde. Je vais d’ailleurs suivre ce groupe de très près et cet album a déjà rejoint ma playlist.

Australian band Ghostseeker presents its debut album Divergence, available from Reigning Phoenix Music from April 25, 2025.
The new band features Tim Campey and Cory Wakleden on guitars, Celeste Bojczuk and Daniel Breen on vocals, and Daniel Gay on drums.
At the start of this album, things move very quickly to better capture the listener’s attention. That’s when Internment enters the scene with impressive aplomb, particularly with the guttural vocals that come in all at once over an electro melody, then surprise with their simplicity and gentleness. After a song like this, it’s hard to beat it, but that’s without counting on The Looking Glass, which accentuates the modern electro-metal feel with a catchy chorus. Speaking of catchy, Metempsychoses is a reminder of the past, with a rhythmic melody similar to Mike Oldfield & Maggie Reilly’s 80s song Moonlight Shadow.
It’s Wake Up (Imposter)’s turn to show what it’s made of, and here again the verses are heavy on riffs and angry vocals to keep the power at its peak, but the choruses soften a little, but watch out for the break that’s going to blow everything up. Then Cursed Till The End comes in to counterbalance everything with a touch of piano that grabs our attention but is still very raw. Then it’s back to the counter-balance with Glow In Decay, featuring a softer melody and much less energy, despite the frenetic instrumentals. There are also a lot more clean vocals than before. I’ve been waiting for the 100% melancholy track all along, and it’s Dissension that deserves the album’s melancholy song label.
The revolution is underway with A Reverie In Atonement, which remains relatively short compared to the other songs. A simple, effective Modern Metal ballad. Quite the opposite of Beta War, which gives me the impression of a guitar battle right from the introduction, and this doesn’t fade with time. Unfortunately, it’s time for the last track. The Prototype takes its role as the conclusion of this chapter very seriously, as it doesn’t disappoint for a single second.
Ghostseeker offers us an album of Modern Metal with a unique imprint. The blend of metalcore and electro is subtle and measured, resulting in an incredible album. I was personally hooked from start to finish without being bored for a single second. I’ll be following this band very closely, and this album has already joined my playlist.
