Une soirée de metal alternatif qui frappe fort
Jeudi soir à la Rockhal du Luxembourg, c’était la promesse d’une nuit survoltée pour les amateurs de metalcore moderne et d’ambiances dark-pop, avec un plateau riche en émotions et en énergie brute : Of Virtue, Until I Wake et en tête d’affiche, les très attendus Catch Your Breath.
L’ambiance était bouillante dès l’ouverture des portes. La salle du Club, à taille humaine, offrait une proximité rare avec les groupes – un terrain parfait pour une soirée cathartique.
Of Virtue : Puissance et profondeur
C’est Of Virtue qui a ouvert les hostilités, et le groupe n’a pas perdu de temps pour électriser la foule. Leur blend de metalcore lourd, mélodique et émotionnellement intense a immédiatement capté l’attention.
Porté par un frontman habité, alternant screams déchirants et passages chantés poignants, le groupe a proposé un set très cohérent et viscéral. Les titres aux messages introspectifs comme « Sinner », « Hypocrite » ou « Cold Blooded » ont particulièrement bien fonctionné, entraînant les premiers headbangs et chants du public.
Le son était massif, la lumière bien gérée pour l’ambiance dramatique que le groupe cultive, et malgré l’horaire d’ouverture, le public a répondu présent avec beaucoup d’énergie. Of Virtue a clairement gagné de nouveaux fans ce soir-là.
Until I Wake : Énergie pure et émotion à fleur de peau
Deuxième groupe à monter sur scène, les Américains d’Until I Wake ont livré une performance explosive, avec un set taillé pour retourner une fosse. Leur metalcore teinté de post-hardcore et d’une touche emo a immédiatement trouvé son public.
Le chanteur, très expressif, a livré des refrains puissants et émotionnels, pendant que les guitares assuraient des riffs tranchants et des breakdowns bien sentis. Des titres comme « Inside My Head » ou « Nightmare » ont déclenché des mouvements dans la foule : sauts en rythme, chants à l’unisson et quelques débuts de moshpit.
Il y avait une vraie connexion humaine entre le groupe et le public. Le chanteur n’a pas hésité à remercier chaleureusement la foule pour son soutien, et à parler de santé mentale, thème récurrent dans leurs textes. Un moment authentique qui a renforcé la sincérité de leur performance.
Catch Your Breath : Une montée en puissance maîtrisée
Enfin, les lumières s’éteignent une dernière fois. Le logo de Catch Your Breath illumine la scène et la clameur monte dans la salle. Dès les premières notes de « Shame On Me », l’ambiance monte d’un cran. Les fans chantent chaque parole, certains bras levés, d’autres déjà dans l’action physique d’une fosse survoltée.
Le groupe enchaîne les titres avec une efficacité redoutable : « Savages », « 21 Gun Salute », « Criminale »… Le son est propre, lourd et immersif. Le chant clair du frontman, parfois auto-tuné dans un style assumé à la Bring Me The Horizon, est juste et puissant, et ses screams surprennent par leur impact.
La setlist oscille entre moments d’intensité pure et passages plus introspectifs, flirtant parfois avec l’électro ou la dark pop. L’équilibre est parfait, et la salle répond à chaque break, chaque montée en tension, chaque refrain accrocheur.
Vers la fin, « Dial Tone » est accueilli comme un hymne : toute la salle chante, les lumières se synchronisent avec les cris du public, et le groupe donne tout. Ce titre clôture le set principal avec une intensité folle.
Le rappel aurait pu être superflu, tant l’émotion et l’énergie avaient déjà atteint leur pic. Mais Catch Your Breath a laissé une empreinte claire : celle d’un groupe prêt à exploser sur la scène internationale, à la croisée du metalcore, de l’alternatif et de la modern pop.

An evening of hard-hitting alternative metal
Thursday night at Luxembourg’s Rockhal promised to be a supercharged night for fans of modern metalcore and dark-pop atmospheres, with a line-up packed with emotion and raw energy: Of Virtue, Until I Wake and headliners Catch Your Breath.
The atmosphere was buzzing as soon as the doors opened. The Club’s human-sized venue offered a rare proximity to the bands – the perfect setting for a cathartic evening.
Of Virtue : Power and depth
Of Virtue got things underway, and the band wasted no time in electrifying the crowd. Their blend of heavy, melodic and emotionally intense metalcore immediately captured the attention.
Buoyed by an inhabited frontman, alternating heart-rending screams and poignant sung passages, the band delivered a highly coherent and visceral set. Tracks with introspective messages like ‘Sinner’, ‘Hypocrite’ and ‘Cold Blooded’ worked particularly well, prompting the first headbangs and chants from the crowd.
The sound was massive, the lighting well managed for the dramatic atmosphere the band cultivate, and despite the opening time, the audience responded with a lot of energy. Of Virtue clearly won themselves some new fans that night.
Until I Wake: Pure energy and raw emotion
The second band to take to the stage, the Americans of Until I Wake delivered an explosive performance, with a set designed to turn a pit upside down. Their metalcore, tinged with post-hardcore and a touch of emo, immediately found its audience.
The highly expressive singer delivered powerful, emotional choruses, while the guitars delivered cutting riffs and heartfelt breakdowns. Tracks like ‘Inside My Head’ and ‘Nightmare’ got the crowd moving, with rhythmic jumping, unison singing and the occasional moshpit.
There was a real human connection between the band and the audience. The singer didn’t hesitate to thank the crowd warmly for their support, and to talk about mental health, a recurring theme in their lyrics. It was an authentic moment that reinforced the sincerity of their performance.
Catch Your Breath: a controlled build-up of power
Finally, the lights went down one last time. The Catch Your Breath logo lit up the stage and the crowd went wild. From the very first notes of ‘Shame On Me’, the atmosphere rises a notch. The fans sing along to every word, some with their arms raised, others already in the physical action of an overexcited pit.
The band follow on from one track to the next with formidable efficiency: ‘Savages’, ‘21 Gun Salute’, ‘Criminale’… The sound is clean, heavy and immersive. The frontman’s clear vocals, sometimes auto-tuned in a Bring Me The Horizon style, are accurate and powerful, and his screams are surprising in their impact.
The setlist oscillates between moments of pure intensity and more introspective passages, sometimes flirting with electro or dark pop. The balance is perfect, and the crowd responds to every break, every build-up, every catchy chorus.
Towards the end, ‘Dial Tone’ is greeted like an anthem: the whole room sings along, the lights synchronise with the cries of the audience, and the band give it their all. This track brings the main set to a close with a crazy intensity.
The encore could have been superfluous, given that the emotion and energy had already reached their peak. But Catch Your Breath left a clear mark: that of a band ready to explode onto the international scene, at the crossroads of metalcore, alternative and modern pop.
