[ENGLISH BELOW] Le groupe de Power Metal Arion est de retour avec un nouvel album intitulé The Light That Burns The Sky, disponible depuis le 28 février 2025 par le label Reigning Phoenix Music.
Le groupe a notamment connu une montée de popularité après sa participation à la finale de sélection finlandaise pour l’Eurovision en 2013.
Cet album débute avec The Darkest Day qui se présente comme une interlude instrumentale courte mais intense qui promet beaucoup d’aventures épiques. Et on rentre tout de suite au cœur du sujet avec The Light That Burns The Sky avec un refrain des plus fédérateurs et une mélodie simple et entêtante, ils ouvrent en grand les portes du fantastique. Le groupe n’a pas peur de renaître de ses cendres comme l’indique Like The Phoenix I Will Rise et arrive à recréer une ambiance soutenue à grands coups de riffs et de batterie frénétique. Un rythme plus Metal avec des riffs plus graves… C’est For An Empire To A Fall et Blasphemous Paradise qu’il faut écouter. Vous aimez le chant guttural ou encore un chant avec pas mal de distorsion et toujours ce côté épique et bien c’est vers Wildfire qu’il faut se tourner.
Wings Of Twilight est la chanson que j’attends au tournant car il s’agit d’un featuring avec Melissa Bonny chanteuse des groupes Ad Infinitum et The Dark Side Of The Moon. Je ne suis absolument pas déçue du résultat bien que ça soit une chanson de Power Metal assez classique, le mélange des deux voix, masculine et féminine fonctionne très bien.
Le relai est pris par Burning In The Skies et Black Swan, tout en restant dans les mêmes consonances et similitudes. Pour reprendre le côté chorale presque évangélique présent dans les titres précédents, In The Heart Of The Sea va se démarquer encore plus pour permettre à Into The Hands Of Fate de conclure cet opus avec une technicité surprenante assez proche du Death tout en gardant ce côté Power.
Arion nous propose un album riche en mélodie diverses et variées avec une conclusion. Le feat est une belle réussite et la structure générale est très cohérente même si cela peut être parfois redondant. Un album qui plaira très certainement à un grand nombre.

Power metal band Arion is back with a new album entitled The Light That Burns The Sky, available from Reigning Phoenix Music on February 28, 2025.
The band’s popularity soared following their participation in the Finnish selection finals for Eurovision in 2013.
The album opens with The Darkest Day, a short but intense instrumental interlude that promises much epic adventure. The Light That Burns The Sky takes us straight to the heart of the matter, with its unifying chorus and simple, heady melody, opening wide the doors to fantasy. The band is not afraid to rise from the ashes, as Like The Phoenix I Will Rise indicates, and manages to recreate a sustained atmosphere with frenetic riffs and drums. A more metal rhythm with deeper riffs… For An Empire To A Fall and Blasphemous Paradise are the ones to listen to. If you like guttural vocals or vocals with a lot of distortion and still that epic edge, then Wildfire is the place to be.
Wings Of Twilight is the song I’m most looking forward to, as it features Melissa Bonny, singer with Ad Infinitum and The Dark Side Of The Moon. I’m not at all disappointed with the result, even though it’s a fairly classic power metal song, and the blend of male and female vocals works very well.
Burning In The Skies and Black Swan take up the slack, while maintaining the same consonances and similarities. Taking up the almost evangelical choral aspect of the previous tracks, In The Heart Of The Sea will stand out even more, allowing Into The Hands Of Fate to conclude this opus with a surprising technicality quite close to Death, while keeping this Power side.
Arion offers us an album rich in diverse and varied melodies with a conclusion. The feat is a great success, and the overall structure is very coherent, even if it can sometimes be redundant. An album that will certainly appeal to a large number of listeners.
