Le groupe britannique Witch Fever nous présente leur nouvel album intitulé Fevereaten, disponible à partir du 31 octobre 2025 par le label Music For Nations / Sony.
Le groupe s’est imposé dans la scène alternative avec son mélange audacieux et féroce de Punk avec l’atmosphère malaisante du Gothique et de pesanteur venant du Doom. Elles décrivent ce nouvel opus comme « être au bord du gouffre sans jamais tomber « , une sensation déjà bien présente dès le premier morceau Dead To Me avec une impression de lâcher prise envahissante, qui se retrouve également sur Final Girl qui serait absolument parfaite dans une fury room. Avec The Garden nous allons avoir l’aspect Doom qui sera bien plus présent.
Nous repartons comme au début avec un son chaotique, bon pour exorciser vos démons intérieurs avec Northstar. Ici nous avons l’influence du Doom qui va créer un profond malaise. Drank The Sap va venir apaiser un peu nos esprits avec un tempo très lent sur les couplets mais cela ne va pas durer avec les refrains qui se veulent plus explosifs, ils vont d’ailleurs se répondre comme deux personnalités qui se battent pour la dominance. Safe est un peu le résultat de la chanson précédente, une ambiance assez typique de la pop anglaise qui va aller toucher en plein cœur avec son refrain puissant. Un morceau très axé sur la basse qui offre une harmonie surtout sur le final où l’on peut entendre un duo violoncelle / piano qui adoucit les mœurs. Ensuite le titre éponyme, Fevereaten va venir tout envoyer en l’air et tout remettre en question. Là ou Burn To Hit va encore une fois appuyer ce côté Doom / Gothique sans jamais lâcher son énergie débordante. Ce qui est également le cas d’Amber qui vient l’accentuer encore plus.
Du Punk britannique bordélique en voici avec See Ya Next Tuesday, qui nous rappel In The Ressurect ou encore Bully Boy de leur précèdent opus, en gardant l’énergie insufflée. Pour la suite il va falloir s’accrocher car Reprise est très malaisante et pesante, ce ne sera clairement pas pour tout le monde tant la distorsion est gérée avec brio, du génie qui va rester dans l’incompréhension. Et en parlant de malaise et de génie incompris, I See It vient clôturer un univers parallèle qui nous oblige à affronter nos peurs, émotions et démons intérieurs. Amy (la chanteuse) a réussi encore à nous lire comme un livre ouvert, sans compter les grésillements qui sont présents volontairement et viennent rajouter un soupçon d’angoisse supplémentaire.
Dans ce nouvel album Witch Fever nous montrent qu’elles peuvent être à la fois puissantes, dérangeantes mais aussi touchantes. Avec un large panel de chansons toutes uniques dans leurs genres et leurs interprétations , le groupe évolue encore vers une identité à la fois typique et unique mais aussi universelle. Un album beaucoup plus prenant et accessible que leur précédent, mais il reste cependant à double tranchant, soit on aime, soit on aime pas.

British band Witch Fever presents their new album, Fevereaten, available October 31, 2025, on the Music For Nations/Sony label.
The band has made a name for itself on the alternative scene with its bold and fierce blend of punk with the unsettling atmosphere of goth and the heaviness of doom. They describe this new opus as “being on the edge of the abyss without ever falling,” a feeling that is already present from the first track, Dead To Me, with an overwhelming sense of letting go, which is also found on Final Girl, which would be absolutely perfect in a fury room. With The Garden, we get a much more pronounced doom aspect.
We start off as we began, with a chaotic sound, good for exorcising your inner demons with Northstar. Here we have the influence of doom, which creates a deep sense of unease. Drank The Sap calms our spirits a little with a very slow tempo on the verses, but this doesn’t last with the more explosive choruses, which respond to each other like two personalities fighting for dominance. Safe is somewhat the result of the previous song, with a fairly typical English pop vibe that will touch your heart with its powerful chorus. It’s a very bass-heavy track that offers harmony, especially at the end, where we hear a cello/piano duet that softens the mood. Then the eponymous track, Fevereaten, comes along and blows everything up and calls everything into question. Burn To Hit once again emphasizes this doom/gothic side without ever letting go of its boundless energy. This is also the case with Amber, which accentuates it even more.
See Ya Next Tuesday is messy British punk, reminiscent of In The Ressurect or Bully Boy from their previous album, maintaining the same energy. Next, you’ll have to hang on tight because Reprise is very uncomfortable and heavy. It’s clearly not for everyone, as the distortion is masterfully handled, a genius that will remain misunderstood. And speaking of discomfort and misunderstood genius, I See It closes a parallel universe that forces us to face our fears, emotions, and inner demons. Amy (the singer) has once again managed to read us like an open book, not to mention the crackling sounds that are deliberately present to add an extra touch of anxiety.
In this new album, Witch Fever shows us that they can be powerful, disturbing, but also touching. With a wide range of songs, each unique in their genre and interpretation, the band continues to evolve towards an identity that is both typical and unique, but also universal. This album is much more captivating and accessible than their previous one, but it remains a double-edged sword: you either love it or you hate it.
