[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Dernière soirée à Londres et pas des moindres, on se rend à l’Underworld, salle mythique du quartier de Camden pour découvrir en live le groupe Grayscale qui conclut le Run UK de sa tournée européenne ce soir!
On commence la soirée avec le groupe Sick Joy! Né sur la scène underground de Newcastle mais formé à Brighton, Sick Joy est le projet du chanteur et multi-instrumentiste Mykl Barton. La formation de Post-Grunge a délivré un set vraiment très sympa avec une très bonne énergie et même si on ne connaît aucun de leurs titres, il est plaisant de découvrir un aperçu de leur discographie et on peut déjà noter que Sick Joy a quelques fans dans l’assemblée.
Après Sick Joy, il est donc temps pour Grayscale de monter sur la scène de l’Underworld! C’est avec le morceau The Hart que le groupe va ouvrir son set, le public se montre déjà bien plus réceptif que Sick Joy et se réveille pour chanter en choeur les paroles du morceau avec Collin Walsh qui armé de sa guitare s’apprête à nous faire un excellent concert! Même si le frontman abandonnera vite son instrument, l’énergie du groupe ne faiblit à aucun moment. Avec des titres tels que Kept Me Alive ou encore Through The Landslide, Grayscale continue à explorer son dernier album en date, The Hart et révèlent de nouveaux bangers à nos oreilles devant un public conquis qui n’hésite pas une seconde à répondre à toutes les demandes de Collin notamment en ce qui concerne le fait de sauter partout!
Dirty Bombs continue la set-list et pendant le morceau le chanteur en profitera pour saluer l’assemblée en demandant de donner encore plus d’énergie du coup ça chante, ça danse, le tout en communion parfaite avec la formation qui délivre un tas de good vibes. Motown continue dans cette bonne énergie avant que In Violet ne retentissent et que les lumières des téléphones ne s’allument mais évidemment le calme ne dure jamais bien longtemps, le groupe appelant le public à s’accroupir pour un Jump collectif. Aucun album de Grayscale n’est laissé pour compte et on en profite pour découvrir des titres plus anciens comme Atlantic qui nous rapproche de la fin du set ou encore Painkiller Weather et Palette qui délivrent toujours une énergie de dingue. C’est avec Not Afaid To Die que le groupe va conclure le set de ce soir en donnant tout à son public un dernière fois, public qui lui aura rendu au centuple bien évidemment!
Merci aux copains français de nous avoir dit de ne pas manquer cette date, on aurait été bien bête de ne pas y assister tout comme Collin nous le dira pendant leur set « Les absents ont toujours tort ».
[ENGLISH VERSION] Last night in London, and not the least, we head to the Underworld, a legendary venue in Camden, to see Grayscale live as they conclude the UK leg of their European tour tonight!
We start the evening with Sick Joy! Born on the Newcastle underground scene but formed in Brighton, Sick Joy is the project of singer and multi-instrumentalist Mykl Barton. The post-grunge band delivered a really enjoyable set with great energy, and even though we don’t know any of their songs, it’s nice to get a glimpse of their discography, and we can already see that Sick Joy has a few fans in the audience.
After Sick Joy, it’s time for Grayscale to take to the stage at the Underworld! The band opens its set with the song The Hart, and the audience is already much more receptive than Sick Joy, waking up to sing along with Collin Walsh, who, armed with his guitar, is ready to give us an excellent concert! Even though the frontman quickly abandons his instrument, the band’s energy never wanes. With tracks such as Kept Me Alive and Through The Landslide, Grayscale continued to explore their latest album, The Hart, and revealed new bangers to our ears in front of a captivated audience who didn’t hesitate for a second to respond to all of Collin‘s requests, especially when it came to jumping around!
Dirty Bombs continues the set list and during the song the singer takes the opportunity to greet the audience, asking them to give even more energy, so everyone sings and dances, in perfect harmony with the band, which delivers a whole lot of good vibes. Motown continues in this positive energy before In Violet starts playing and the lights of the phones come on, but of course the calm never lasts long, as the band calls on the audience to crouch down for a collective jump. No Grayscale album is left out, and we get to discover older tracks such as Atlantic, which brings us closer to the end of the set, as well as Painkiller Weather and Palette, which always deliver incredible energy. The band concludes tonight’s set with Not Afraid To Die, giving their all to the audience one last time, an audience that has obviously given them back a hundredfold!
