Bloodlust et Move to trash s’enchaînent on remarque que les afficionados de Resolve étaient bel et bien présents ce soir. De plus le groupe de Metalcore français offre une ouverture digne de ce nom. Si le pit se forme timidement au fur et à mesure du set, aux premiers rangs le public chante et headbang en rythme. Seasick sailor, Osas et New colours suivent dans cette même énergie. La prestation de Resolve nous plaît beaucoup. De plus l’installation de jeux de lumières sur la scène donne une ambiance particulière à leur passage. Le groupe remercie son public pour son soutien et sa présence avant d’annoncer le dernier titre de cette soirée.
Nous avons le plaisir d’entendre Older Days qui clôture à merveille cette première partie. Ce morceau sorti l’année dernière en featuring avec Ten56 et Paleface Swiss et que nous avions adoré, s’était glissé dans notre playlist depuis lors !
Une courte pause le temps d’installer le matériel et la scène de la tête d’affiche, nous voici à quelques minutes du passage d’Underøath !
Comme le nom de la tournée semblait le présager le groupe américain nous offre une performance live de leur album de 2004 en intégralité. C’est une vague de nostalgie qui surgit en nous dès le début du set d’Underøath qui commence, évidement avec Young and Aspiring et A boy brushed red living in black and white.
Spencer Chamberlain, chanteur principal du groupe, prend la parole et explique au public sa joie de jouer en Europe. Il raconte que, jusque là, Underøath avait un peu sous-estimé cette partie du globe et qu’ils ne se produisaient, que, trop rarement en Europe et donc en France et que cela était dommage. Après deux semaines passées de concerts il avoue avoir adoré être ici.
The impact of reason et Reinventing suivent et le public semble plus que ravi de vivre cette expérience live de (They’re Only Chasing Safety). Partout on voit les fans chanter – voir carrément hurler- les paroles. Dans le Pit un petit groupe de fan met l’ambiance dès le début du passage d’Underøath, de manière assez spéciale et carrément bordélique certes mais ce qu’on aime !
Underøath poursuit son set anniversaire avec leur morceau instrumental The Blue Note et derrière lequel It’s dangerous business walking out on your front door le tout dans une bonne humeur palpable partagé avec son public. De notre côté nous sommes très heureux de ré-entendre ces titres phares!
Quand Down, set, go commence le public hurle les paroles à l’unisson avec Spencer, un très beau moment de partage !
Suivant l’ordre original de son album, le groupe poursuit son set avec I don’t feel very receptive today et I’m content with losing. On arrive alors au dernier titre de (They’re Only Chasing Safety) qui aura tant marqué la carrière d’Underøath.
Cependant, le groupe n’est clairement pas à cours de surprise ce soir. Il clôt l’album de 2004 avec une version acoustique de son dernier titre Some will seek forgiveness, others Escape. C’est le batteur du groupe qui se retrouve au devant de la scène avec une guitare semi-acoustique. Aaron Gillespie qui chante aussi une partie des paroles (chant clair) nous offre une performance impactante et vraiment marquante. La salle se fait silencieuse sur ce moment suspendu dans le temps.
À son retour sur scène Spencer prend de nouveau la parole. Tout d’abord il explique que l’album joué ce soir étant relativement court, le groupe a décidé de jouer davantage de morceaux. Une annonce évidemment bien reçue par le public qui semble très content.
Il poursuit en annonçant que le groupe est en train de travailler sur son prochain projet et qu’ils seraient ravis de pouvoir jouer ses nouveautés en Europe. Underøath promet de repasser bientôt, une nouvelle acceuillie avec grand enthousiasme !
La soirée se poursuit donc avec cinq titres supplémentaires tirés du reste de la discographie des américains. Take a Breath tiré de leur album Voyeurisme de 2022 est le premier à être joué. Cela fait forcément plaisir aux amateurs de l’Underøath récent, d’une certaine façon il y en avait un peu pour tout le monde !
In regards to myself complète le set. Il s’agit de nouveau d’un titre ancien puisqu’il date de Define The Great Line de 2006. Nous étions pour notre part très content que cet album soit également mis à l’honneur lors de cette soirée.
Hallelujah est lancé juste derrière et le public chante à l’unisson le fameux « Cut the lights, face yourself, we’re not dreaming, this is hell ». Spencer se penche face au public et lui tend son micro. Certains fans finissent même au sol, à genoux pendant une partie de la chanson.
Too bright to see, too loud to hear de l’album Lost in the sound of separation de 2008 fait office de petite accalmie dans cette soirée à l’ambiance électrique.
Le groupe fini son set par l’iconique Writing on the walls qui date également de 2006. Dès les premières notes le public profite des derniers instants du concert et hurle les paroles de la chanson avec le groupe.
De cette soirée nous repartons très satisfaits et contents. Déjà, Resolve a réalisé une première partie très sympa. Leur énergie était communicative et le groupe de Metalcore français était très heureux de se produire à la Machine du Moulin Rouge.
De son côté Underøath nous a joué son album de 2004 en intégralité et dans l’ordre original de celui-ci. Cela aura forcément réjouis les plus nostalgiques d’entre nous surtout si vous êtes du genre à écouter les albums dans leur intégralité et dans l’ordre original ! La version acoustique pour clôturer (They’re Only Chasing Safety) et les chansons suivantes tirés de la discographie du groupe ont complété à merveille le set d’Underøath ! De notre côté nous étions particulièrement contents d’entendre Hallelujah et Writting on the walls lots de cette soirée.
[ENGLISH VERSION] On June 16th, the American metalcore band Underøath gave us the pleasure of returning to France. An exceptional date which was part of the anniversary tour of (They’re Only Chasing Safety) in Europe and which continues during the year in the United States. Indeed this album is already celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year, an iconic release in the history of the band. On the European part of this tour it was the French from Resolve who accompanied Underøath, enough to make us proud of the French-speaking scene once again! It was therefore a date not to be missed, especially since Underøath does not often come through Europe!
It is therefore Resolve which opens the ball of this evening at the Machine du Moulin Rouge. The band begins their set with “Human” and “Death Awaits”. The performance is energetic and the whole group seems very happy to perform on stage. Anthony Diliberto (singer of the band) says it himself « It’s an honor for us to play tonight, Underøath rocked our adolescence and we suppose it’s the same for you so make some noise!! ».
“Bloodlust” and “Move to trash” follow one another, we notice that Resolve‘s fans were indeed present this evening. In addition, the French metalcore band offers an opening worthy of the name. If the pit forms timidly as the set progresses, in the front rows the audience sings and headbangs to the rhythm.
“Seasick sailor”, “Osas” and “New colors” follow in this same energy. We really like Resolve‘s performance. In addition, the installation of light shows on the stage gives a special atmosphere to their passage. The group thanks its audience for their support and presence before announcing the last title of this evening.
We have the pleasure of hearing “Older Days” which wonderfully closes this first part. This track released last year featuring Ten56 and Paleface Swiss and which we loved, had slipped into our playlist since then!
A short break while we set up the equipment and the headliner’s stage, here we are a few minutes from Underøath!
As the name of the tour seemed to suggest, the American group offers us a live performance of their 2004 album in full. It’s a wave of nostalgia that arises in us from the start of Underøath‘s set which begins, obviously with « Young and Aspiring » and « A boy brushed red living in black and white ».
Spencer Chamberlain, lead singer of the group, takes the stage and explains to the audience his joy of playing in Europe. He says that, until then, Underøath had underestimated this part of the globe and that they only performed too rarely in Europe and therefore in France and that this was a shame. After two weeks of concerts he admits he loved being here.
“The impact of reason” and “Reinventing” follow and the audience seems more than happy to live this live experience of (They’re Only Chasing Safety). Everywhere we see fans singing – even screaming – the lyrics. In the pit a small group of fans sets the mood from the start of Underøath, in a rather special and downright messy way, of course, but that’s the way we like!
Underøath continues their anniversary set with their instrumental track « The Blue Note » and behind which « It’s dangerous business walking out on your front door » all in a palpable good mood shared with their audience. For our part, we are very happy to hear these flagship titles again!
When “Down, set, go” begins the audience screams the words in unison with Spencer, a very beautiful moment of sharing!
Following the original order of their album, the group continues their set with « I don’t feel very receptive today » and « I’m happy with losing ». We then arrive at the last title of (They’re Only Chasing Safety) which will have marked Underøath‘s career so much.
However, the group is clearly not short of surprises this evening. He closes the 2004 album with an acoustic version of his last track « Some will seek forgiveness, others Escape ». It’s the group’s drummer who takes center stage with a semi-acoustic guitar. Aaron Gillespie who also sings part of the lyrics (clean vocals) gives us an impactful and truly remarkable performance. The room falls silent on this moment suspended in time.
When he returns to the stage, Spencer speaks again. First of all he explains that the album played this evening being relatively short, the group decided to play more songs. An announcement obviously well received by the public who seem very happy.
He goes on to announce that the band is working on their next project and that they would be delighted to be able to play their new releases in Europe. Underøath promises to come back soon, news welcomed with great enthusiasm!
The evening continues with five additional titles taken from the rest of the Americans’ discography.
“Take a Breath” from their 2022 album “Voyeurism” is the first to be played. This obviously pleases fans of recent Underøath, in a way there was a little bit for everyone!
“In regards to myself” completes the set. This is again an old title since it dates from « Define The Great Line » from 2006. For our part, we were very happy that this album was also in the spotlight during this evening.
“Hallelujah” is launched just behind and the audience sings in unison the famous “Cut the lights, face yourself, we’re not dreaming, this is hell”. Spencer leans in front of the audience and hands them his microphone. Some fans even end up on the ground, on their knees during part of the song.
“Too bright to see, too loud to hear” from the 2008 album “Lost in the sound of separation” serves as a little alcalm in this evening with its electric atmosphere.
The group ends its set with the iconic « Writing on the walls » which also dates from 2006. From the first notes the audience enjoys the last moments of the concert and screams the lyrics of the song with the group.
We leave this evening very satisfied and happy.
Already, Resolve has produced a very nice first part. Their energy was infectious and the French metalcore band was very happy to perform at the Machine du Moulin Rouge.
For his part, Underøath played his 2004 album for us in its entirety and in its original order. This will undoubtedly have delighted the most nostalgic among us, especially if you are the type to listen to the albums in their entirety and in the original order! The acoustic version to close (They’re Only Chasing Safety) and the following songs taken from the group’s discography perfectly completed the Underøath set! For our part, we were particularly happy to hear “Hallelujah” and “Writing on the walls” this evening!
