[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Près d’un an après son dernier passage en France, le groupe iconique de hardcore Stick to your guns était de retour dans nos contrées ! Nous avons eu la chance d’être présents à la date parisienne du tour européen intitulé Keep Planting Flowers (du même nom que le dernier album du groupe sorti en janvier). Les américains sont venus accompagnés de plusieurs groupes : No Cure, Elwood Stray et Bodysnatcher. Nous avions non seulement hâte de voir les nouveaux morceaux en live car nous avions adoré l’album mais nous étions également ravis par les premières parties. C’était donc une soirée qui se promettait mouvementée pour le Trabendo en ce 25 janvier !

C’est No cure qui lance les hostilités dès 18h50. Le groupe de punk hardcore américain nous propose dès son arrivée sur scène un son définitivement lourd avec un scream bien crade comme on les aime. Le public n’est pas encore totalement arrivé dans la salle car il est encore relativement tôt mais il est tout de même très réactif et la formation est visiblement très contente. Le groupe, originaire de l’Alabama séduit les adeptes du mosh pit. Dès le passage de No Cure le two step et les circle pit se feront nombreux ! Le chanteur prend la parole « It’s our first time, in Europe, in France, in Paris ! » avant de lancer leur nouveau titre accueilli avec engouement dans la fosse. Il remercie les personnes qui se sont déplacées plus tôt ce soir pour assister à leur set. Le groupe proposera dix titres ce soir parmi lesquels « The final Truth » qui crée l’effervescence dans le public ou encore « No cure straight edge die slow fuck you » avec lequel il fini son set dans une énergie folle.
Changement de décor total avec le passage des allemands de chez Elwood Stray à partir de 19h40 ! Le groupe monte sur scène et pose une ambiance beaucoup plus douce avec, au menu, du chant clair et des mélodies entraînantes. Changement également de genre puisqu’il s’agit ici de metalcore au contraire des autres groupes de cette soirée. Qu’à cela ne tienne puisque le public applaudit dès le premier titre des allemands : Evolve se termine sous les hurlements de la foule, on sens qu’une partie du public semble s’être déplacé pour Elwood Stray. Le vocaliste prend la parole et invite le public à tout donner « let’s warm up guys!! » On assiste alors aux premiers crowdsurf de la soirée qui, étonnamment n’avaient pas fait leur apparition pendant le set de No Cure. C’est l’occasion d’ailleurs de jouer son morceau qui porte le même nom ! Le chanteur plaisante « Nous avons un titre ce soir qui porte le même nom que le groupe qui a joué avec nous, celle ci s’appelle No Cure« . Le set de Elwood Stray est passé à une vitesse folle et on est surpris quand les allemands annoncent leur dernier titre, à l’occasion de « Uncertain Me » il fait se baisser le public qui se relève ensuite en même temps en suivant le rythme. C’est la folie dans tout le Trabendo, tout le monde saute dans la salle !
La soirée se poursuit et c’est après une petite attente que l’on a pas vu passer que Bodysnatcher entre en scène. Le groupe de hardcore renoue avec la thématique de la soirée : peut nombreux sont les personnes qui veulent aller dans le milieu de la fosse en ce début de set mais cela ne durera pas ! Le chanteur réclame du two step et du circle pit dés le début et le public que l’ont avait pendant No Cure refait surface avec l’effervescence qu’on lui connaît, on peut le dire c’était mouvementé ! Le trabendo ayant la particularité d’avoir deux marches autour de la fosse, on voit ici et là du public qui tombe en domino sur celles-ci ! Le vocaliste salue le public : « Ça fait un moment Paris ! La dernière fois qu’on est venu c’était avec Chelsea grin si je me trompe pas. Faites un bonjour à Elwood stray et no cure qui ont joué juste avant nous ! » Le groupe est content et remercie son public pour sa réactivité. S’amusant du fait que la foule réalisé toutes leurs demandes, le batteur prend également la parole pour demander au lui demander de grimper massivement sur scène : « Il est temps de prouver que vous êtes mieux que l’Allemagne Paris« . Évidemment le requête formulée sera mise largement à contribution et c’est tout sourire que Bodysnatcher fini son passage sur scène par King of the Rats. Le groupe de hardcore aura lui aussi joué une dizaine de titre dans une énergie plus que communicative et parmi lesquels on peut noter Take me to hell ou encore Murder8.
Nous assistons à une pause bien mérité pour la fosse, le temps d’installer le matériel de la partie principale de la soirée. Il est 21h30 quand les américains de chez Stick to your guns prennent place sur la scène du Trabendo. Immédiatement tout part en cacahuètes dans la fosse dès les premières notes de l’introduction de Against them all. Nous avions eu droit, avant l’arrivée du groupe sur scène à Take on me, l’iconique son des années 80 et sur lequel toute la salle c’était déjà amusé et avait chanté en coeur. Avec une ambiance à la fête comme celle-ci et au vu de l’énergie folle du public sur les premières parties nous aurions dû nous douter que la foule serai explosive… Nous avons été malgré tout agréablement surpris ! Dès le début du set du groupe de hardcore les crowdsurfers sont tellement nombreux qu’ils se checkent en haut, la fosse du Trabendo est pleine à craquer et Stick to your guns a le sourire aux lèvres. Severed together et Such pain s’enchaînent, le public réalise toutes les demandes du groupe et bien plus encore : circle pit et mosh en folie, les escaliers sont de nouveaux le théâtre de personnes qui tombent comme des dominos. Côté prestation nous sommes impressionnés par la qualité du son et du jeu de chacun des musicien de Stick to your guns, d’un côté la foule est en délire, de l’autre le groupe est super professionnel et nous joue un set super clean avec des balances vraiment parfaites !
La tension dans la salle ne redescend pas de la soirée, il est même difficile pour nous de prendre des notes sur l’ambiance ou même les titres joués tant sortir son téléphone semble dangereux : jusqu’à Invisible rain c’est la folie et les titres s’enchaînent avec une efficacité à toute épreuve.
Après cela, Jesse prend la parole après pour parler des évènements récent survenus à Los Angeles. Il explique que la formation a tout quitté pour le tour sans savoir si ils retrouveraient quoi que ce soit a leur retour. Heureusement tout va mieux, il nous fait part du fait qu’ils sont rassurés et Stick to your guns dédie la chanson suivante a leur proches restés aux Etats Unis.
Le concert continue avec des titres toujours plus énergiques les uns que les autres, la communion entre Stick to your guns et son public est un réel plaisir à vivre, c’était notre premier concert du groupe de hardcore et nous avons vraiment adoré cette expérience. La tension redescent seulement pour Keep Planting Flowers, titre éponyme et au combien particulier de l’album sorti en début janvier 2025. Jesse reprend la parole pour expliquer que le concert ne durera pas trop longtemps, il explique qu’une soirée fait visiblement suite au Trabendo, cela a visiblement l’air de frustrer le groupe.
Après cette courte prise de parole les américains poursuivent avec We will die anyway, un titre court et concis, un moment parfait. Puis Spilness est lancée avec une nouvelle demande de Jesse « I want to climb over each other » et qui déclenche une apothéose d’energie dans la foule et même sur scène, de nombreuses personne montent sur les planches en crowdsurfant et se jettent de nouveau dans le public.
Marry to the noise et Nobody viendront clore ce set que l’ont a pas senti avancer, le concert se fini sans rappel et le bilan est là : c’est passé beaucoup trop vite ! Et c’est là la conclusion d’un set réussi et d’une soirée de folie : cette impression qu’on aurait pu y rester des heures de plus sans les voir défiler ! Le groupe remercie chaleureusement son public à la fin de Nobody et quitte les planches du Trabendo qui redevient, d’un coup, tout calme.
[ENGLISH VERSION] Almost a year after their last visit to France, the iconic hardcore band Stick to your guns was back in our region! We were lucky enough to be present at the Paris date of the European tour entitled Keep Planting Flowers (of the same name as the band’s latest album released in January). The Americans came accompanied by several bands: No Cure, Elwood Stray and Bodysnatcher. Not only were we eager to see the new songs live because we loved the album, but we were also delighted by the opening acts. So it was a night that promised to be eventful for the Trabendo on this January 25th!

It’s No cure who launches the hostilities at 6:50 p.m. The American hardcore punk band offers us as soon as they arrive on stage a definitively heavy sound with a very dirty scream as we like them. The audience has not yet fully arrived in the room because it is still relatively early but it is still very responsive and the band is visibly very happy. The band, originally from Alabama, seduces the mosh pit fans. As soon as No Cure passes, the two step and the circle pit will be numerous! The singer speaks « It’s our first time, in Europe, in France, in Paris! » before launching their new song received with enthusiasm in the pit. He thanks the people who came earlier this evening to attend their set. The band will offer ten songs this evening including « The final Truth » received with a lot of excitement in the audience or « No cure straight edge die slow fuck you » with which they end their set with crazy energy.
A complete change of scenery with the passage of the Germans from Elwood Stray from 7:40 p.m.! The band goes on stage and sets a much softer atmosphere with, on the menu, clear singing and catchy melodies. Also a change of genre since this is metalcore unlike the other bands of the evening. No matter since the audience applauds from the first song of the Germans: Evolve ends with the screams of the crowd, we feel that part of the audience seems to have moved for Elwood Stray. The vocalist takes the floor and invites the audience to give it their all « let’s warm up guys!! » We then witness the first crowdsurfing of the evening which, surprisingly, had not appeared during No Cure‘s set. It is also the occasion to play his song which bears the same name! The singer jokes « We have a song tonight which bears the same name as the band which played with us, this one is called No Cure« . Elwood Stray‘s set went by at a crazy speed and we are surprised when the Germans announce their last song, on the occasion of « Uncertain Me » he makes the audience bend down who then get up at the same time following the rhythm. It’s madness in the whole Trabendo, everyone jumps in the room!
The evening continues and it’s after a short wait that we didn’t see pass that BodySnatcher enters the stage. The hardcore band reconnects with the theme of the evening: few people want to go to the middle of the pit at the beginning of the set but it won’t last! The singer asks for two steps and circle pit from the beginning and the audience that we had during No Cure resurfaces with the effervescence that we know it for, we can say it was lively! The Trabendo having the particularity of having two steps around the pit, we see here and there the audience falling like dominoes on them! The vocalist greets the audience: « It’s been a while Paris! The last time we came was with Chelsea grin if I’m not mistaken. Say hello to Elwood stray and no cure who played just before us! » The band is happy and thanks their audience for their responsiveness. Having fun with the fact that the crowd fulfilled all their requests, the drummer also takes the floor to ask them to massively climb on stage: « It’s time to prove that you are better than Germany Paris« . Obviously the request made will be widely used and it is all smiles that Bodysnatcher ends his time on stage with King of the Rats. The hardcore band will have also played about ten songs with a more than communicative energy and among which we can note Take me to hell or Murder8.
We attend a well-deserved break for the pit, the time to set up the equipment for the main part of the evening. It is 9:30 p.m. when the Americans from Stick to your guns take their place on the Trabendo stage. Immediately everything goes to shit in the pit from the first notes of the introduction of Against them all. Before the band arrived on stage, we were treated to Take on me, the iconic sound of the 1980s and on which the whole room had already had fun and had sung in unison. With a party atmosphere like this and given the crazy energy of the audience on the first parts we should have suspected that the crowd would be explosive… We were nevertheless pleasantly surprised! From the beginning of the hardcore band’s set the crowdsurfers are so numerous that they check each other at the top, the Trabendo pit is packed to the rafters and Stick to your guns has a smile on their lips. Severed together and Such pain follow one another, the audience fulfills all the requests of the band and much more: circle pit and crazy mosh, the stairs are once again the scene of people falling like dominoes.
As for the performance we are impressed by the quality of the sound and the playing of each of the musicians of Stick to your guns, on one hand the crowd is delirious, on the other the band is super professional and plays us a super clean set with really perfect balances! The tension in the room does not go down during the evening, it is even difficult for us to take notes on the atmosphere or even the songs played as taking out our phone seems so dangerous: until Invisible Rain it is madness and the songs follow one another with unfailing efficiency.After that, Jesse takes the floor to talk about the recent events in Los Angeles. He explains that the band left everything for the tour without knowing if they would find anything when they returned. Fortunately everything is better, he tells us that they are reassured and Stick to your guns dedicates the next song to their loved ones who remained in the United States.
The concert continues with songs that are always more energetic than the others, the communion between Stick to your guns and their audience is a real pleasure to experience, it was our first concert of the hardcore band and we really loved this experience. The tension only goes down for Keep Planting Flowers, the eponymous and very special title of the album released in early January 2025. Jesse takes the floor again to explain that the concert will not last too long, he explains that a party is obviously following the Trabendo, this visibly seems to frustrate the band.
After this short speech the Americans continue with We will die anyway, a short and concise song, a perfect moment. Then Spilness is launched with a new request from Jesse « I want to climb over each other » and which triggers an apotheosis of energy in the crowd and even on stage, many people get on the boards by crowdsurfing and throw themselves back into the audience.
Marry to the noise and Nobody will come to close this set that we did not feel progress, the concert ends without an encore and the result is there: it went by much too quickly! And this is the conclusion of a successful set and a crazy evening: this impression that we could have stayed there for hours more without seeing them parade! The group warmly thanks its audience at the end of Nobody and leaves the boards of the Trabendo which suddenly becomes calm again.
