[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Le 26 novembre dernier, nothing nowhere investissait l’Electric Brixton à Londres pour une très belle soirée riche en émotions! Accompagné par le trio Sace6 sur cette tournée Européenne, Joe Mulherin sait exactement comment combler un public nostalgique de certaines années!
On commence donc la soirée avec la découverte totale de Sace6! A l’origine projet solo du chanteur/guitariste Sace, l’artiste se voit rejoindre sur scène par Noah Thomas (guitare/scream) et un batteur pour un mélange musical assez…détonnant! En effet, Sace6 c’est à la fois des éléments alternatifs/Emo like Sleeping With Sirens ou encore Deftones avec des éléments Pop ou encore carrément Shoegaze. Le mélange peut sembler surprenant mais le trio sur scène c’est juste magique et puissant. Ils vont nous délivrer ce soir six titres dont quatre issus de l’EP Limerence sorti en juin de cette année mais également deux nouvelles compos ego et covet. L’ambiance est au rendez-vous, le public semble connaître déjà plus ou moins la musique de Sace qui est acclamé entre chaque titres, et on note déjà quelques crowdsurfers qui s’en donnent à coeur joie! Une très belle découverte sur un set qu’on aurait aimé voir plus long et un projet qu’on continuera à suivre de très très près.
Le clou de la soirée, c’est bien évidemment le set de nothing,nowhere! Et quel set ! Le chanteur/compositeur/auteur va nous sortir une set-list dantesque avec des classiques, des titres plus récents et une cover d’anthologie. Le concert commence avec sa sortie récente Cardinal In The Crossfire enchaînée avec nightmare et love or chemistry et on a déjà laissé nos coeurs et nos cordes vocales avec lui en trois titres. Le groupe de musiciens qui l’accompagne a changé depuis la dernière fois qu’on a pu voir Joe sur scène à Paris (aux Etoile en 2022) et délivre une énergie aussi folle que celle du chanteur qui saute, court partout et alpague le public à la moindre occasion, on l’a déjà vu moins loquace et là c’est un bonheur. Suit Counterfeit sur laquelle Joe présente son groupe et demande une ovation bien méritée pour chacun des musiciens avant la suite du karaoké géant avec blood, lights (4444), Clarity In Kerosene ou encore Pieces Of You, excusez-nous mais Emo Feels inside!
Suivent des morceaux un peu moins connus et sûrement moins plébiscités mais pas moins aimés comme Skully, Shiver ou encore Twenty Something. Le public réagit à chaque demande de l’artiste entre Two Step, Jump général, Mosh-Pit en tout genre et ne parlons pas des lumières allumées sur lights (4444) évidemment c’était logique. Le Pit se poursuit sur THIRST4VIOLENCE avant que les esprits ne s’apaisent sur John Wayne (I Wanna Be A Cowboy), un instant d’une beauté inouïe sur lequel Joe s’illustre à l’harmonica. On enchaîne avec Hopes Up sur lequel on retrouvera d’ailleurs Sace en featuring avant un final sur You et I’m Sorry, I’m Trying mais n,n n’en a pas fini avec le public londonien.
C’est avec une de ses sessions Will It Emo? que Joe revient sur scène et jamais vous n’entendrez All Star mieux interprété que par lui (et par Smash Mouth évidemment), le pit est en folie, on passe un moment délicieux et ce breakdown, excusez-nous mais on est encore dedans à l’heure actuelle. C’est sur l’incontournable Hammer que le set va définitivement se conclure et BORDEL on en redemande encore après ça! Probablement un des meilleurs concerts de l’année si ce n’est le meilleur en terme d’énergie et d’émotions.
[ENGLISH VERSION] On November 26, Nothing Nowhere took over Electric Brixton in London for a wonderful evening full of emotion! Accompanied by the trio Sace6 on this European tour, Joe Mulherin knows exactly how to satisfy an audience nostalgic for certain years!
So we started the evening with a complete discovery of Sace6! Originally a solo project by singer/guitarist Sace, the artist was joined on stage by Noah Thomas (guitar/scream) and a drummer for a rather explosive musical mix! Sace6 combines alternative/emo elements reminiscent of Sleeping With Sirens or Deftones with pop and even shoegaze elements. The mix may seem surprising, but the trio on stage is simply magical and powerful. Tonight, they perform six tracks, including four from the EP Limerence, released in June this year, as well as two new compositions, Ego and Covet. The atmosphere is electric, the audience already seems to be familiar with Sace‘s music, cheering between each track, and there are already a few crowdsurfers having a great time! A wonderful discovery on a set that we would have liked to see last longer, and a project that we will continue to follow very closely.
The highlight of the evening is, of course, nothing,nowhere‘s set. And what a set it is! The singer/songwriter/composer treats us to a spectacular set list featuring classics, more recent tracks, and an epic cover. The concert began with his recent release Cardinal In The Crossfire, followed by Nightmare and Love or Chemistry, and we had already lost our hearts and vocal cords to him after just three songs. The band accompanying him has changed since the last time we saw Joe on stage in Paris (at Les Etoile in 2022) and delivers energy as crazy as that of the singer, who jumps, runs around and grabs the audience at every opportunity. We’ve seen him less talkative before, and here it’s a joy. Next up is Counterfeit, during which Joe introduces his band and asks for a well-deserved ovation for each of the musicians before continuing with giant karaoke with Blood, Lights (4444), Clarity In Kerosene and Pieces Of You. Excuse us, but Emo Feels inside!
Next come some lesser-known and certainly less popular but no less beloved songs such as Skully, Shiver, and Twenty Something. The audience responds to each of the artist’s requests with two-step, general jumping, mosh pits of all kinds, and let’s not even mention the lights turned on for Lights (4444)—obviously, it was logical. The pit continues with THIRST4VIOLENCE before spirits calm down with John Wayne (I Wanna Be A Cowboy), a moment of incredible beauty in which Joe shines on the harmonica. This was followed by Hopes Up, featuring Sace, before a finale with You and I’m Sorry, I’m Trying, but n,n wasn’t done with the London audience yet.
Joe returns to the stage with one of his Will It Emo? sessions, and you’ll never hear All Star performed better than by him (and Smash Mouth, of course). The pit goes wild, we have a wonderful time, and that breakdown—sorry, but we’re still in it right now. The set ends definitively with the unmissable Hammer, and DAMN, we want more after that! Probably one of the best concerts of the year, if not the best in terms of energy and emotion.
