[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Deux ans après Homicidal Ecstasy, les affreux jojos de Sanguisugabogg sont de retour avec leur troisième album studio, Hideous Aftermath disponible depuis aujourd’hui (10 octobre) via Century Media Records.
Rotted Entanglement est le genre de morceau qui vous tombe dessus sans crier gare, c’est extrêmement lourd le tout accompagné d’une batterie dévastatrice et des « grognements/vociférations » du vocaliste, Devin Swank. Un premier titre aux influences très Death Metal Old-School et avec une mosh-part ravageuse, on signe direct! Premier featuring de l’album et pas des moindres puisque c’est Peeling Flesh qui va rejoindre le Bogg sur FelonyAbuse Of A Corpse, le côté imposant et dévastateur est toujours bien présent avec des parties qui feront headbanger à coup sûr (oui même dans votre salon) et ce final écrasant qui conduit directement à Ritual Autophagia en feat avec Todd Jones de Nails, une nouvelle collaboration avec des sonorités empruntées au Slam Death mais également avec un côté plus Raw pour rendre hommage au travail de l’artiste invité. Heinous Testimony est le type de titre qui va à l’essentiel, c’est court et brutal bref rien de très original au programme mais c’est toujours appréciable d’écouter ça! Nouveau duo cette fois-ci avec Josh Welshman du groupe Defeated Sanity sur Abhorrent Contraception, quelques touches plus techniques et après le sample c’est une avalanche de violence qui attend l’auditeur, c’est lourd et ravageur, préparez-vous à l’impact!
Repulsive Demise et son ambiance angoissante propose de nouvelles sonorités pour le Bogg, celles-ci sont en effet très proche de…l’Indus! Le morceau fonctionne en tout cas très notamment grâce une nouvelle fois au vocaliste qui est un monstre et le démontre sur le passage où la batterie et son pig-squeal se mélangent à la perfection pour apporter une nouvelle dimension au titre. Sanctified Defilement s’ouvre sur un cri étrange qui ressemble à un cri de détresse qui matche parfaitement avec l’ambiance pesante mais qui revient à quelque de plus brutal avant les deux derniers titres de l’album qui sont également deux nouvelles collaborations. La première sur le titre Semi Automatic Facial Reconstruction où le groupe est rejoint par Travis Ryan de Cattle Decapitation lui plus influencé Grindcore avec la voix toujours aussi reconnaissable de Travis Ryan et la deuxième en guise de final avec Dylan Walker de Full Of Hell sur Paid In Flesh. Ce dernier morceau est également le plus long de l’album avec ses presque huit minutes, la première partie est purement classique chez Sanguisugabogg mais la deuxième se rapproche plus de Full Of Hell avec une ambiance plus pesante et lente sur un fond de Noise.
Ce troisième album du Bogg montre que le groupe ne reste pas bloqué sur ses acquis et propose de nouvelles choses en s’entourant de pointures du genre comme Travis Ryan. Un très bon album même si il présente quelques légères longueurs!

Rotted Entanglement is the kind of song that hits you out of nowhere. It’s extremely heavy, accompanied by devastating drums and the growls/shouts of vocalist Devin Swank. The first track has strong old-school death metal influences and a devastating mosh part. We’re sold! The first feature on the album, and not the least, is Peeling Flesh, who joins Bogg on Felony Abuse Of A Corpse. The imposing and devastating side is still very much present with parts that are sure to make you headbang (yes, even in your living room) and a crushing finale that leads directly into Ritual Autophagia featuring Todd Jones of Nails. a new collaboration with sounds borrowed from Slam Death but also with a more raw side to pay tribute to the guest artist’s work. Heinous Testimony is the kind of track that gets straight to the point. It’s short and brutal, nothing very original on the program, but it’s always enjoyable to listen to! This time there’s a new duo with Josh Welshman from the band Defeated Sanity on Abhorrent Contraception, a few more technical touches, and after the sample, an avalanche of violence awaits the listener. It’s heavy and devastating, so get ready for impact!
Repulsive Demise and its oppressive atmosphere offer new sounds for Bogg, which are in fact very close to… industrial! In any case, the track works very well, thanks once again to the vocalist, who is a monster and proves it in the passage where the drums and his pig squeal blend perfectly to bring a new dimension to the track. Sanctified Defilement opens with a strange cry that sounds like a cry of distress, which fits perfectly with the heavy atmosphere but returns to something more brutal before the last two tracks of the album, which are also two new collaborations. The first is on the track Semi Automatic Facial Reconstruction, where the band is joined by Travis Ryan from Cattle Decapitation, who is more influenced by grindcore with Travis Ryan‘s ever-recognizable voice, and the second is the finale with Dylan Walker from Full Of Hell on Paid In Flesh. This last track is also the longest on the album at almost eight minutes. The first part is pure Sanguisugabogg, but the second is closer to Full Of Hell with a heavier and slower atmosphere against a backdrop of noise.
This third album from Bogg shows that the band is not resting on its laurels and is offering something new by surrounding itself with big names in the genre such as Travis Ryan. A very good album, even if it does have a few slight longueurs!
