Jamie’s Elsewhere c’est le projet entre Aaron Pauley (Of Mice & Men), Matt Scapelli, Chance Medeiros et Mike Spearman. Après Paradise, ils reviennent avec un nouvel EP : Alchemical. Ces nouveaux titres seront disponibles dès le 20 juin, via SharpTone Records.
Traveler débute avec quelques mots énoncés par une femme avant d’enchaîner avec une instrumentalité forte et dynamique. Le chant est plus planant, calmant les choses et les étirant même. Les choses s’énervent vite jusqu’au chant clair, qui apporte de la lumière et nous donne le sentiment d’être dans une bulle. Une alternance se crée rapidement entre ce refrain doux et la violence des couplets. L’ensemble passe à un nouveau niveau durant la dernière partie et ce premier titre tient toutes ses promesses. Hyper-Reactive nous dévoile une sonorité plus aiguë qui vient nous guider tout au long de notre écoute. L’instrumentalité donne toute sa puissance alors que le chant reste assez calme et entre vite en tête. L’ambiance est assez différente et j’apprécie comment le groupe l’a construit de secondes en secondes. On découvre quelques courts passages plus énervé, qui viennent donner un petit truc en plus à l’ensemble. Les chœurs sont incroyables et se marient très bien avec les scream. Dans la dernière partie, on vient prendre un peu plus de notre temps, avant un chant mis en avant, assez calme avant d’évoluer. Le breakdown est incroyable, combiné à des scream il est rudement efficace. Le début de Decay nous offre plusieurs sonorités électro, donnant un effet un peu décousu et intriguant. Ce passage est assez court et les instruments arrivent rapidement, accompagnés du chant. L’ensemble semble plus agressif et les notes électro reviennent à certains moments clés. Les deux chants alternent parfaitement les choses, avec un chant clair qui monte très haut et auquel on accroche directement. Je suis totalement comblée par le refrain qui est percutant et reste en tête, tout en donnant envie de le reprendre en chœur avec le chanteur.
L’introduction de Like Silver vient de loin et se rapproche rapidement, se mélangeant avec des sonorités électro et un chant qui prend son temps. Il est captivant et l’instrumentalité est un peu différente, jouant sur des sonorités plus aiguës. Le refrain semble un peu sur la réserve et ce titre reste assez accessible, avec un refrain qui est le vrai point fort de l’ensemble. Un titre qui reste très dynamique, donnant envie de sauter dans tous les sens et qui s’éteint tout en douceur. Alchemical débute avec un ensemble un peu brouillon mais aussi plus insistant. L’instrumentalité est vraiment dynamique et donne un fort sentiment d’accélération. Le chant apparaît accompagné de touches électro et vient calmer les choses, malgré ses scream. Le refrain accélère les choses à nouveau, surtout au niveau des instruments et le chant reste dans sa lignée. On nous dévoile une belle palette vocale malgré tout, se prenant au jeu. Le fait de combiner l’accélération à un chant violent donne quelque chose d’intéressant et d’efficace. Le groupe se surpasse totalement sur ce morceau !
Jamie’s Elsewhere nous propose un EP incroyable. Chaque titre représente ce que le groupe fait de mieux et nous fait vibrer, on est presque déçu de n’avoir que cinq morceaux !

Traveler begins with a few words spoken by a woman before moving on to a strong and dynamic instrumentality. The vocals are more soaring, calming things down and even stretching them out. Things quickly get heated until the clear vocals, which bring light and give us the feeling of being in a bubble. An alternation is quickly created between this soft chorus and the violence of the verses. The whole thing goes to a new level during the last part and this first track lives up to all its promises. Hyper-Reactive reveals a higher-pitched sound that guides us throughout our listening. The instrumentality gives all its power while the vocals remain quite calm and quickly enter the head. The atmosphere is quite different and I appreciate how the band built it from second to second. We discover a few short, more angry passages, which give a little something extra to the whole. The choirs are incredible and blend very well with the screams. In the last part, we come to take a little more of our time, before a vocal put forward, quite calm before evolving. The breakdown is incredible, combined with screams it is brutally effective. The beginning of Decay offers us several electro sounds, giving a somewhat disjointed and intriguing effect. This passage is quite short and the instruments arrive quickly, accompanied by the vocals. The whole seems more aggressive and the electro notes return at certain key moments. The two vocals alternate things perfectly, with a clear vocal that goes very high and which we immediately hook. I am totally satisfied by the chorus which is percussive and stays in the head, while making you want to sing it in chorus with the singer.

The introduction of Like Silver comes from afar and quickly approaches, mixing with electro sounds and vocals that take their time. It is captivating and the instrumentality is a little different, playing on higher tones. The chorus seems a little reserved and this track remains quite accessible, with a refrain that is the real strong point of the whole. A track that remains very dynamic, making you want to jump in all directions and which fades out very gently. Alchemical begins with a slightly messy but also more insistent ensemble. The instrumentality is really dynamic and gives a strong feeling of acceleration. The vocals appear accompanied by electro touches and calm things down, despite its screams. The chorus accelerates things again, especially at the instrumental level and the vocals remain in line. We are revealed a beautiful vocal palette despite everything, getting into the game. The fact of combining the acceleration with violent vocals gives something interesting and effective. The band totally outdoes itself on this track!
Jamie’s Elsewhere delivers an incredible EP. Each track represents what the band does best and thrills us; we’re almost disappointed to only have five songs!
