[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Le 24 janvier dernier, la tournée Motocultor Accross Europe posait ses bagages dans la belle salle du CCM John Lennon à Limoges avec un très beau line-up composé de Infected Rain, Semblant, les français de Elyose mais également Miruthan et Skin On Flesh. Retour sur cette belle soirée! Merci à Jessica de Hold Tight pour les accréditations.
Pour commencer la soirée , nous allons découvrir Skin On Flesh, groupe allemand de Punk-Rock mené par une chanteuse mexicaine, Laura. Le groupe va proposer une set-list hétéroclite composée à la fois de morceaux en anglais tels que U’re Cute, Let’s Hang (qui est également le titre de leur dernier EP en date sorti l’an dernier) mais aussi en espagnol comme Para Mi! On assiste à un show coloré à l’image de Laura et plein d’énergie, nous aurons même le droit à El Tiempo leur titre le plus connu extrait de la BO du jeu Cyberpunk 2077 qui suivra une courte présentation des musiciens de la formation. Bref une très belle découverte qui apporte un vent de fraîcheur sur la scène Punk-Rock avec quelques sonorités Pop également dans ses compositions!
Nous attendions avec impatience le set du groupe de Black Metal australien (et seul groupe de Metal Extrême sur cette affiche), Miruthan. Le contraste entre la scénographie du groupe précédent est saisisant mais Miruthan vont eux aussi conquérir le public avec leur univers très visuel et leurs compositions lorgnant du côté Blackened Death plus que purement Black Metal. Les refrains de chaque morceaux sont interprétés à la fois par la voix masculine mais aussi celle féminine de la prêtresse du groupe, c’est d’ailleurs celle-ci qui transportera le plus l’assemblée, la vocaliste semblant totalement possédée et livrant une prestation scénique vraiment intéressante! Le groupe étant relativement récent, ils ne proposeront que 5 titres dont les 4 compositions présentes sur leur premier EP Cult Of The Dead sorti l’an dernier. Le frontman et guitariste s’autorisera même un petit saut dans la fosse lors du dernier titre Into The Abyss. Là aussi une excellente découverte qu’on s’empressera de suivre de très près!
Arrive le seul groupe français de la soirée : Elyose! Mené par Justine au chant, quel plaisir de retrouver Anthony Chognard (ancien Smash Hit Combo et producteur de nombreux groupes) dans le line-up mais également Jordan Kiefer (Black Bomb A) derrière les fûts! Malheureusement seule la section instrumentale arrivera vraiment à nous convaincre, la voix de Justine semblant littéralement étouffée, nous ne profiterons pas pleinement de sa performance vocale et ne comprendront pas vraiment les paroles du groupe , ce qui est bien dommage, est-ce dû à l’accoustique de la salle ou à un énième problème de son? C’est probablement le cas, nous espérons donc revoir Elyose pour changer notre avis à l’occasion!
Semblant est déjà l’avant-dernier groupe de la soirée! Venu tout droit du Brésil , le groupe propose des sonorités orientées Melodic Death Metal, le groupe nous avait été particulièrement bien vendu avant ce soir et force est de constater qu’on ne nous avait pas menti. Les premiers vrais pogos de la soirée prendront d’ailleurs vie lors de leur set, et le public présent ne pourra que constater la complicité évidente entre les membres du groupe porté par le duo de vocalistes, Mizuho Lin et Sergio Mazul. Semblant vont par ailleurs rappeler qu’ils profitent de cette tournée pour fêter les 10 ans de leur album Lunar Manifesto dont 5 titres seront joués ce soir. Là aussi une chouette découverte avant de retrouver un de nos groupes chouchous de ces dernières années!
Le moment que tout le monde attendait ce soir est enfin arrivé : Infected Rain s’apprête à investir les planches! Avec une scénographie bien différentes des dernières fois où nous les avons vus, le groupe a ajouté des écrans diffusant des visuels inspirés de leurs titres, Infected Rain arrive déjà à convaincre visuellement avant de nous écraser avec des titres de leur dernier album en date comme le duo Pandemonium/Vivarium suivi directement par le banger Fighter, ce trio de morceaux laissera le public complètement pantois et nous avec tant l’énergie envoyée par le trio de tête, Lena (chant), Alice (basse) et Vidick (guitare) est communicative. La chanteuse prendra d’ailleurs le temps régulièrement de rappeler à quel point le public français est un de leur public préféré précisant à chaque fois notre accueil chaleureux au groupe moldave. Dying Light et Never To Return semblent sonner la fin du set mais c’est sans compter sur un rappel avec le classique Sweet, Sweet Lies mais également Because I Let You. On retrouvera quelques minutes après le set, Alice et Lena au merchandising du groupe pour échanger quelques mots mais aussi pour des dédicaces.
[ENGLISH VERSION] On 24 January, the Motocultor Accross Europe tour took to the CCM John Lennon in Limoges with a great line-up including Infected Rain, Semblant, French band Elyose, Miruthan and Skin On Flesh. Here’s a review of the evening! Thanks to Jessica from Hold Tight for the accreditation.
To kick off the evening, we’re going to discover Skin On Flesh, a German punk-rock band led by a Mexican singer, Laura. The band’s set list is a mixed bag, with songs in English such as U’re Cute, Let’s Hang (which is also the title of their latest EP, released last year) and in Spanish such as Para Mi! The show was as colourful and energetic as Laura herself, and even included El Tiempo, their best-known track from the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack, followed by a short presentation of the band’s musicians. In short, a wonderful discovery that brings a breath of fresh air to the punk-rock scene, with some pop sounds in its compositions too!
We were eagerly awaiting the set by Australian Black Metal band (and the only Extreme Metal band on this bill), Miruthan. The contrast with the previous band’s set was striking, but Miruthan also won over the audience with their highly visual universe and compositions that leaned more towards Blackened Death than pure Black Metal. The choruses of each track are sung by both the male voice and the female voice of the band’s priestess, and it’s the latter who will transport the audience the most, the vocalist seeming totally possessed and delivering a really interesting stage performance! As the band are relatively new, they will only be playing 5 tracks, including the 4 compositions on their debut EP Cult Of The Dead, released last year. The frontman and guitarist even allowed himself a little jump into the pit on the last track, Into The Abyss. It’s another excellent discovery that we’ll be keeping a close eye on!
Then came the only French band of the evening: Elyose! Led by Justine on vocals, what a pleasure to see Anthony Chognard (former Smash Hit Combo and producer of numerous bands) in the line-up, as well as Jordan Kiefer (Black Bomb A) behind the drums! Unfortunately, only the instrumental section really managed to convince us, as Justine‘s voice seemed literally muffled. We didn’t get the full benefit of her vocal performance and didn’t really understand the band’s lyrics, which was a real shame, but was this due to the venue’s acoustics or yet another sound problem? It’s probably the latter, so we hope to see Elyose again to change our minds!
Semblant is already the penultimate band of the evening! Hailing straight from Brazil, the band’s Melodic Death Metal sound had been particularly well sold to us prior to this evening, and it’s clear that we weren’t lied to. The first real pogos of the evening came to life during their set, and the audience couldn’t help but notice the obvious complicity between the band members, led by the duo of vocalists, Mizuho Lin and Sergio Mazul. They’ll also be reminding us that this tour is an opportunity to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their album Lunar Manifesto, 5 tracks from which will be played tonight. It’s another great discovery before we meet up with one of our favourite bands of recent years!
The moment everyone’s been waiting for tonight has finally arrived: Infected Rain are about to take to the stage! With a very different set-up to the last few times we’ve seen them – the band have added screens showing visuals inspired by their songs – Infected Rain are already visually convincing before crushing us with tracks from their latest album, such as the duet Pandemonium/Vivarium, followed directly by the banger Fighter. This trio of tracks will leave the audience completely stunned, and us too, so infectious is the energy sent out by the front trio, Lena (vocals), Alice (bass) and Vidick (guitar). In fact, the singer regularly takes the time to remind us that the French public is one of their favourite audiences, each time pointing out our warm welcome to the Moldavian band. Dying Light and Never To Return seemed to signal the end of the set, but that was without counting on an encore featuring the classic Sweet, Sweet Lies and Because I Let You. A few minutes after the set, Alice and Lena met up again at the band’s merchandising stand to exchange a few words and get some autographs.
